Always surprises
What do you like best about the product?
I love the way this product is evolving... I have been using NPM from more than 3 years now and from the time I started using and what it has reached now, is just commendable... the dashboards, widgets, different views, small small features like mute alerts, creating icons etc are few which I would like to call out here..
What do you dislike about the product?
not much in this section for now.. I would like to see how it catches up with drastic changes that are happening in the network area like new technology launches from different top network vendors like Cisco.. Also would like to see how SW-WAN will be accommodated in monitoring....
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
well, it gives different options.. right from low level to high level like using Netpath which enables the team to know exact pain point and not waste time.. if a customer is only initiated in basic monitoring then that's also available without much effort...
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would suggest to definitely go for this product.. you have option to evaluate and see of yourself..

When you need to know what the network is doing.
What do you like best about the product?
NetPath shows you what is happening from beginning to end and every point along the way.
What do you dislike about the product?
For Network Operations Centers that work 24/7 a dank theme would be nice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The software platform helps keep long term statistics and current data to determine network issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This software allows me to monitor every aspect of my networking environment.

The single view that can show everything thats going on in our network.

I dislike having to wait at least thirty minute to get a technical support agent during regular hours
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an ISP, we use network performance monitor to correlate information between our core devices and our customers. It allows anyone with access to view topology of a customer and escalate issues accordingly.
Powerful network monitoring, easy to set up, attractive dashboards
What do you like best about the product?
Network Insight for ASA, Netpath, Perfstack, Windows and Linux Agents, support for wireless controllers... there are so many features packed into NPM. We are able to quickly and efficiently diagnose network performance issues across our entire environment. The development cycle for NPM is also very active, they are constantly working on new features.
The Thwack community is also an amazing asset to owning a SolarWinds product, there are thousands of users there discussing ideas, issues, and IT topics in general.

What do you dislike about the product?
Some parts of the UI could use reworking and can be cumbersome for creating groups and dependencies for a large number of remote networks
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to scale our environment accurately by using baselines collected in NPM. Performance issues can be easily found and alerted on, reducing downtime and improving user experience.
Awesome Product
What do you like best about the product?
We can easily monitor entire network devices and performance in a clear view. We can easily track specific ports if any network issues. This is very handy and customizable interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very expensive ,can not easily afford, very hard to deal with management.

Used in a mid large size software company network, specially for stable network performance
NPM Rocks!
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and ability to adapt. Other packages are either difficult to administer and/or difficult for non-techie end-users to interface with. Solarwinds is easy to use, and easy to administer. It's also very quick to get up and running and at least somewhat productive. It is very extensible and customizable, which once you start working with this will make you even more productive. The other modules that are offered, such as NCM, NTA UDT and IPAM, are great too. And this is just on the networking side, they have extensive server/storage/database monitoring also.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of granular controls on administrative privileges. The inability to merge the data from an old device to a new one that replaces it, such as bandwidth statistics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solarwinds NPM makes it easy for Network Engineers to monitor many aspects of their network devices. This information is easily accessed by them in order to help diagnose issues, forecast capacity and many other things. More importantly the user-friendly UI makes it simple for managers and others to get in and check things out or create reports for metrics. The UI is easily customizable to facilitate different audiences using it, such as managers or NOCs. Its also very extensible to be able to draw out information important to your organization. I've used it at 4 different organizations and every one was pleased with its abilities and performance.

What do you like best about the product?
Great integration with all the other modules and lots of customization.
What do you dislike about the product?
Default views have too many wigets for my liking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
NPM has helped us many times diagnose a slow connection or node issues.

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to drill down from a summary page into a problem to find the device or interface that is in need of attention. Once the situation is found and fixed, you can use SolarWinds NPM to confirm the problem is resolved.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a bit of getting used to when you have never used it. The interfaces are a bit spartan but we don't use for its good looks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have baselined our entire network with SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor. Now we use it to establish trends and detect anomalies. We have plenty of history saved to be able to compare against when troubleshooting issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you have someone dedicated to the task, not just a part timer, with some serious SNMP experience for the greatest effect. If you don't have a good installer, the experience may be sub-optimal. Like any large scale, extensible product, you will need someone to care for and monitor it periodically.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to setup and use.The network discovery makes it quick, for adding devices.
What do you dislike about the product?
Runs on windows. I would like to see a linux version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I don't have to keep an eye the monitoring screen 24x7. I get notified if there is an issue in the network.
NPM makes it easy to be advanced.
What do you like best about the product?
NPM is extremely easy to use, providing very powerful tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not really found anything I dislike that SolarWinds has not fixed, and/or improved upon.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to know exactly what problem we are having, and where that problem is, within a very small amount of time. We have even been able to find some issues before they actually grew into a problem.
