Lightning-Fast Transfers, But Pricey for Small Teams

  • February 03, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use IBM Aspera on Cloud for high-speed file transfer and secure data synchronization across geographically dispersed teams and systems. I appreciate its speed and reliability when transferring very large files, which consistently deliver fast, reliable transfers that traditional FTP and HTTP simply can't match. IBM Aspera on Cloud combines performance, security, and ease of use, which is hard to find in other file transfer solutions. The FASP protocol it uses delivers speeds up to 100 times faster than FTP/HTTP over any distance, which is great for minimizing latency for massive datasets like media or backups that are critical for global teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the pricing model of IBM Aspera on Cloud. The usage-based pricing can be surprising, especially with spikes during heavy transfers. It becomes expensive for small teams compared to competitors.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM Aspera on Cloud for high-speed file transfer and secure data synchronization. It solves my issues with transferring large files across distributed teams and systems, offering reliability and performance that traditional methods can't match.

What do you like best about the product?
What I appreciate most about IBM Aspera on Cloud is that it solves a real pain poin, moving large files quickly and reliably. The transfer speeds are consistently fast no matter where you're sending files, which means I can actually trust the timelines when planning projects. The cloud setup keeps costs manageable since there's no hardware to buy, and the dashboard gives me the visibility I need to track what's happening and report back to stakeholders. I also like that it integrates with our existing workflows through APIs, so we're not constantly doing manual handoffs. Bottom line: it takes something that used to cause delays and frustration and makes it something I don't have to worry about anymore.
What do you dislike about the product?
Honestly, the learning curve at the start can be frustrating and it's not exactly plug-and-play, especially if your team isn't super technical. You'll spend some time figuring out the setup instead of just getting to work. The pricing can also catch you off guard if your transfer needs spike unexpectedly, so you need to keep an eye on usage. And the interface? It's functional but feels a bit clunky, sometimes you just want to send a file without clicking through a bunch of settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can commit to deadlines confidently, our teams collaborate without friction, and I'm not spending my day troubleshooting transfer issues. It's given me time back to focus on actual business analysis instead of babysitting file movements. What used to be a constant headache now runs quietly in the background, which is exactly what infrastructure should do.
