Reliable, Fast, and Secure File Transfers for Enterprise Needs

  • July 14, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
IBM Aspera on Cloud has made transferring large files seamless, secure, and incredibly fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ability to transfer extremely large files at high speed, regardless of distance or network conditions, is what sets Aspera apart. The platform is stable, secure, and easy to manage even in enterprise environments with complex needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM Aspera on Cloud is solving the challenge of transferring large files quickly, securely, and reliably across global teams. Traditional file-sharing services often fail with large data sets or suffer from bandwidth throttling and security concerns. Aspera’s high-speed transfer protocol (FASP) overcomes these limitations, enabling our team to move terabytes of data in minutes instead of hours or days. This has significantly improved collaboration, reduced delivery timelines, and enhanced our ability to work with remote clients and partners across different time zones.

Fast and Secure File Transfers for Large Datasets

  • June 24, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part of IBM Aspera is its speed and reliability. We deal with huge data files, and traditional transfer methods were slow or error-prone. Aspera makes transfers blazing fast, even over long distances. The encryption and security features also give us peace of mind when handling sensitive files. The interface is quite clean and easy to navigate even for new users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the UI can be a little unintuitive, especially while setting up new workspaces or permissions. Also, the learning curve for new users or non-tech folks can be a bit steep initially. But once you're familiar, it's smooth.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We regularly work with large files, including data-heavy documents and assets that need to be shared between teams located in different geographies. Traditional transfer tools were either too slow or unreliable. IBM Aspera on Cloud solved this by providing fast, secure, and reliable file transfers. It has significantly reduced our turnaround time and eliminated errors from failed transfers. This has improved team collaboration and helped us meet deadlines more consistently.

IBM Aspera Cloud is a robust solution for lightning-fast, secure transfer of large files.

  • June 21, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about IBM Aspera is its FASP technology. It enables blazing-fast, secure, and reliable transfer of massive files, regardless of distance or network conditions, vastly outperforming traditional methods.
What do you dislike about the product?
Users often find Aspera expensive, with complex pricing. The user interface can feel dated and less intuitive, leading to a steep learning curve for setup and troubleshooting. It's also not ideal for many small files or purely browser-based needs due to required client installations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM Aspera solves the critical problem of slow, insecure, and unreliable large file transfers over any distance. It uses patented FASP technology to move massive datasets at maximum speed, overcoming network limitations. This ensures fast, secure, and reliable data movement, accelerating global collaboration and cloud data workflows for businesses worldwide.

A review about IBM Aspera

  • June 20, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
well it has been most helpfull in sending large data sets without any restriction, rather it be its size or any type of network with maximum speed. It is also good for sending large data files globally within time frame.
What do you dislike about the product?
i think it is a bit costly I think there should be a less price compared to the price available right now, the deployment is complex for new users and the some times have some difficulties while using it, a less intuitive user interface, and limitations are there in in certain use cases like multi-directional transfers and real-time synchronization.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM Aspera solves the problem of transfering large data sets easily rather it be over long distance or slow network using multi cloud environment. Sometimes there is bad network and some data files are needed to be sent immediately and here comes the aspera's FASP which maximizes network bandwidth and overcomes the limitations of traditional transfer methods like FTP.

Good

  • June 19, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
IBM Aspera on Cloud stands out for its unmatched speed, security, and reliability in transferring large files across geographies. What I like best is its high-speed data transfer protocol (FASP) which consistently outperforms traditional FTP/SFTP solutions, even over high-latency or unreliable networks. It’s ideal for handling large datasets like media files, backups, or enterprise-level documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
While IBM Aspera on Cloud is highly efficient for large file transfers, one area of improvement could be the initial onboarding and setup process, which may feel complex for first-time users without prior technical exposure. The platform offers powerful features, but navigating advanced configurations or integrations (especially with on-prem systems) sometimes requires additional support or training.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM Aspera on Cloud solves the critical challenge of transferring large files quickly, securely, and reliably—especially over long distances or unstable networks. Traditional file transfer methods (like FTP or HTTP) are often slow and prone to failure when handling large datasets or high-volume transfers. Aspera’s FASP technology overcomes these limitations by utilizing the full available bandwidth without being affected by latency or packet loss.

This has benefited me by:

Drastically reducing file transfer times, enabling faster project execution and real-time collaboration.

Improving reliability, so large file transfers no longer fail midway or require manual retries.

Enhancing data security, with encryption during transit and at rest, which is critical for compliance-sensitive data.

Simplifying cross-platform access, allowing cloud-to-cloud and on-premise-to-cloud movement without complex setup.

Accelerated Data Delivery with IBM Aspera: A Practical Evaluation

  • June 17, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about IBM Aspera on Cloud is its unmatched file transfer speed and reliability over long distances and high-latency networks. Unlike traditional FTP or HTTP methods, Aspera uses its patented FASP protocol to fully utilize available bandwidth, which drastically reduces transfer times even for extremely large files. Additionally, its intuitive web-based interface and powerful APIs make it easy to integrate into enterprise workflows, while maintaining robust security and granular access control.
What do you dislike about the product?
While IBM Aspera on Cloud excels in performance, there are a few areas that could be improved. The user interface, though functional, can feel a bit outdated and unintuitive for first-time users. It also has a learning curve for administrators when configuring workspaces, access controls, and automation workflows. Pricing can be another concern—especially for smaller teams—as the cost can scale quickly depending on data volume and usage patterns. Lastly, occasional latency in the web UI or delays in file status updates can hinder real-time tracking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use IBM Aspera on Cloud primarily for high-speed, secure transfer of large datasets between global locations and cloud environments. It plays a critical role in our workflows involving data migration, real-time syncing of enterprise data, sharing large media files, and integrating external partners into our data pipelines. Its ability to handle terabyte-scale transfers with encryption and bandwidth optimization makes it ideal for time-sensitive and compliance-driven operations.
