good MDM with patch management

  • March 09, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jumpcloud works well with both Windows & Mac. The client installation is straightforward & rarely requires any troubleshooting.
It collects basic information about devices. The search is fast even with a few hundred of devices.
New features are added regularly, I had some interaction with the Product team that implemented and adjusted new features based on my feedback.

The patching policy is working pretty well, on average, we have less than 5% of devices that require manual check/intervention

Policy enforcement works perfectly (we use it to restrict USB mass storage and enforce disk encryption)
What do you dislike about the product?
The reporting is lacking, System Insight feels largely useless (and it stores only 90 days of logs). Supposedly you can use the API to collect more information (but should I really have to play with API to get logs...).

Pushing commands/script is usually working but "command results" are not great (doesn't always work properly)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
we use Jumpcloud as an MDM, making sure we can remotely wipe/lock lost devices. And we manage user's password.
We leverage patch management on +450 devices

Cloud-based AD

  • March 09, 2022
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud is a great cloud-based AD alternative with a flexible feature set and a clean, easy to use UI. We use this tool daily, it is very reliable and has a lot of options for carrying out administrative tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes we need to run PowerShell scripts on a user-level that is not currently possible with JumpCloud. If a script is deployed through JumpCloud, it is executed on the target machine with administrator privileges rather than on user-level.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our company is 99% cloud-based and JumpCloud provides our AD solution without us having to install AD servers on-prem. It makes all our assets accessible remotely.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
JumpCloud has a great documentation guide that can be followed step-by-step for all sorts of administrative tasks.

    Information Technology and Services

Intuitive, well designed and relatively inexpensive.

What do you like best about the product?
There are enough options for (likely) every admin. From LDAP, RADIUS, SSH, Samba, to Active Directory integrations and the ability to integrate 3rd party applications, you can do pretty much everything you want.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is a very solid product. Can't think of negative things to say.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm currently using JumpCloud to run tests. Specifically the MDM solutions.

A great cloud directory

  • March 09, 2022

What do you like best about the product?
Auto redirection with a single sign-in option is a wonderful way to get access to all the softwares from only one log-in.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. Changes to the domain name are not possible.
2. Switch between user and administrator mode.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud is utilised by everyone in the company. We needed a single sign-on solution that was both central and straightforward, with a good user experience and integration. After careful consideration, we chose JumpCloud above the other possibilities.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Instead of having a separate user directory for each location, JumpCloud allows us to have a single user directory that spans all on-premise and hosted systems (local, one per AWS Region, GCP, etc). Trying to keep track of all the user directories and users' credentials was more work than it was worth. Within the JumpCloud interface, groups of users can easily be provided access to only the systems they need to perform their jobs. With the enforcement of password strength/renewal criteria, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) to the JumpCloud Portal to manage all of the users, JumpCloud also helps us satisfy PCI Level 1 requirements.

pretty nice if you dont have any local server to connect everyone to domain.

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use for managing users and syncing there data across multiple platforms
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool sometimes requires you to use incognito mode to stop the pages cookies and autofill JS from grabbing the wrong data when adminintrating some users
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
From within the devops team we used it to help manage single sign on from all our cloud environments

    Education Management

Great Directory as a Service

  • March 09, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's the perfect substitution for on-premises AD for us. We use it as a single source of authority for PC/Mac logins, RADIUS for Wi-Fi, inventory etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
Billing is a bit hard to grasp, but once you get the hold of it it runs fluently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving authentication and authorization services to the cloud.

Easy to setup, easy to use, easy to make changes - so why not?

What do you like best about the product?
The biggest reason for our use is to activate Cloud Radius through our VPN connection from Azure AD. This also includes our Access Points in the office. This allowed us to get rid of all our tin, and the need for a Domain Controller on-site, where we could rely only on AAD.
What do you dislike about the product?
If the email address and the username are different, which is a security benefit, JumpCloud doesn't recognize that in the sync from AAD. This was the only issue I have experienced in the last year of use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The need for a Domain Controller is gone. The need to use LDAP/S or any other legacy authentication is gone, as Cloud Radius is very easy from JumpCloud. It's also very easy for end-users to use and update their details from within it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's easy to trial, so just try it out. Let the tool do the talking. If you don't like it, you can just de-link everything after. Give it a shot, I was very impressed.

    Leisure, Travel & Tourism

What do you like best about the product?
It creates a good overview of our devices. The SSO and connection to our LDAP and device management were good during the pandemic.
What do you dislike about the product?
It was hard to offload as an admin and uninstall it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SSO, Password management and LDAP.
