    Program Development

So far our experience with Jumpcloud has been great.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the zero-touch deployment. We can now deliver the new laptops directly to our new employees home (since we work from home) and everything will be configured on the first login. We love the MDM so far even though we haven't yet fully released it yet in our company.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is not necessarily the thing I dislike but you could have also some mobile app that could push MFA login. That would be awesome!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a huge issue with user access management. It wasn't centralised much so we had a lot of systems where we didn't remove users who have left the company. Now with SSO/SAML/LDAP we really don't need to worry about it because all the important services are working via SSO.

Also the sysadmin is very happy that he doesn't need to prepare the laptops manually.

Jumpcloud as an AD alternate

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Robust user access management with MFA and SSO, along with integrated cloud directory capabilities, and uses powershell for automation. With a simplified, friendlier UI that will allow you to give low-level admins tasks without fear.

The 365 integration is great, but it really is built for G-Suite.
What do you dislike about the product?
Current drawbacks are:

Microsoft Office 365 directory synchronization doesn't allow MFA to be enabled on the Office365 side.

No MFA for password resets, so if someone can't get to their email, they can't self-service password resets.

Group Policy needs some major work before it is a suitable replacement for AD Group policy.

It's a little pricy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an MSP we have many customers in the small business category. Malware, and file security is an ongoing concern, but using thousands of dollars for a Microsoft directory solution is not an option. This solution allows us to leverage modern security principles, centralized management and device security while making the customer extremely happy with the price and lack of intrusion on day-to-day work functionality.

Very useful tool for startups

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We were looking for an identity platform with an acceptable cost as we are a small company. We were looking mainly for centralized device management with the possibility to sync with Google Workspace that we already use to manage all users. We appreciated the possibility to manage devices, users and groups in a very simple way. What is very appealing is the pricing. It is free for the first 10 users, this is quite a common case for startups or little companies. It gives you the complete freedom to try the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing relevant or particular for the moment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our main need was to manage devices centrally: allow and remove access to servers in a secure way

Ease of setup. Jumpcloud makes it easier for first time users especially those new to the cloud an excellent experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
None so far.it's been over a year and I'm still yet to find anything I dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of use and overall user provisioning and device administration made easier.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely give it a try.

Fantastic platform for SMEs that want to build a robust platform!

What do you like best about the product?
It is pre-built. Adding integrations are sometimes complex, but that complexity would exist with any directory. The guides are comprehensive too; sometimes they can be hard to follow, but these are highly complex topics, so it is inevitable..
What do you dislike about the product?
Support is decent, but sometimes I have needed to supply the same information more than once and I've needed to repeat diagnostic steps on the instructions of the support team.. Again, this is not unique to JumpCloud, but ideally it would be great if support could review cases thoroughly..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using JumpCloud to support my own business and customers. For my own business, I am managing both Google Workspaces AND Microsoft 365 for Business; something JumpCloud does brilliantly! My customers are using a wide range of features, including: Single Sign-On, MFA, SAML connectors, and more.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Some of the integration steps are complex, so if you struggle, look for a partner that can help!

What do you like best about the product?
SSO, device management, policies, BitLocker/FileVault key storage
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be confusing for new users who aren't accustomed to cloud based management
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Device management, user management, SSO, software deployment
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider trying it. It's free to use for organizations under 10 users, so there's no risk to trying it.

The first and most crucial step on my ZeroTrust Networking and various compliance initiatives.

  • April 26, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the single source of truth in a cloud-native platform. For me, this feels a little like Git for Users/Devices in that I trust that this is where my users/devices live, not spread out across dozens of disparate systems. Also... dead simple ssh with mfa on Linux... MIND BLOWN!
What do you dislike about the product?
Currently, there is no support for device management on Chromebooks or Android.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been spinning my wheels in implementing ZeroTrust principles in my network, trying to set up the myriad of tools to extend an on-prem directory. I realize I was stuck in 2010, resulting in an unhealthy relationship with Microsoft Active Directory. Now I can tie in all the different services on the cloud to a directory that doesn't so much care about the underlying infrastructure, I can focus on the users and devices and let JumpCloud keep the lights on for me.

Also, I recently had a few gaps in my HIPAA security audit, and I was able to address them very simply with JumpCloud. This turned a fairly lengthy process of configuration management for predominantly mobile devices into a very simple and well-documented solution. The result is I passed my HIPAA verification.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look long and hard before you dig into AzureAD or extend an on-prem directory. Kick the tires with the JumpCloud free tier. You will probably find everything you need without perpetuating a headache with ActiveDirectory, you might need a little more peace of mind and reduced stress without AD replicas to keep track of. Read the Ebook "Breaking Up With Active Directory", it's funny but so true!

A great product not only for IDM

  • April 26, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A simple, effortless to implement and use solution that helps you to manage not only identities but also endpoint security in a multiplatform environment.
We started using Jumpcloud for IDM, and then we realize we can use it for other purposes and together with other teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
It lacks good reporting capabilities, so you need to export the information to be processed externally. Some features are not available for Linux.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're centralizing a lot of capabilities in one tool: Jumpcloud. These capabilities are Identity Management, Endpoint Security, Application Management, Local Admin Management, Security Monitoring, and Incident Response.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It would be best if you rethought your IDM and other processes when you start with Jumpcloud. If you do it in that way, you could have more reliable, automated, and straightforward processes.

A Modern Cloud-Based AD solution for any company that wants to streamline their device management

  • April 24, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As the Head of Engineering at an early-stage FinTech startup with no central office, I did not want to maintain any physical infrastructure for managing our entire IT infrastructure. JumpCloud's solution is cloud-native, easy to set up and a lot simpler to manage than the Active Directory.
What do you dislike about the product?
JumpCloud's product is still evolving to provide a lot of the functionality that you would get from a fully-featured Active Directory solution. So, we have run into some feature gaps for managing Mac and Linux devices.
Nevertheless, our Customer Support representatives have been very helpful in suggesting alternatives until the feature is added natively to JumpCloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted to have a cloud-native solution that could help us with the following:
1. Manage all our endpoints (Windows, macOS and Linux) and enforce security policies mandatory for companies in the Finance industry
2. Maintain a Registry of all Company Assets
3. Centralized Identity and Access Management to various services and tools
4. Remotely execute commands and push software to endpoints
5. Maintain a log of access to the devices
6. Remotely lock/wipe devices if they get lost
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you don't have as much endpoint management as I do, I would recommend taking out time to understand their overall system model. That investment will help you understand how to structure your user groups, device groups, device policies and access control.
