Great unified directory solution for a business without AD

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Using Jumpcloud as a unified directory and syncing with other directories (Microsoft 365 or Google Suite e.g.) just works. We don't need to bother with an on-prem AD and we still get a great identity management solution. Provisioning of new users and deprovisioning of users is a breeze. With the advent of Cloud services and remote working, traditional ways of managing identities on-premise (e.g. with an LDAP Server) just didn't work anymore for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occassionally, we ran into issues with the systems agent on macOS, which is probably due to changes in macOS Security aspects (mainly regarding password changes and Filevault). The Jumpcloud support however was stellar and made sure these issues could be solved quickly.
Another aspect, that we had not previously realised, is that the implementation of SSO often depends on the service level/contract with the Service Provider. E.g. you won't be able to use SSO with an Adobe Team subscription. This is however not a limitation on Jumpcloud's side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We spend much less time managing users and credentials and users often can solve their Identity/Access related issues themselves. We're mostly using directory sync, the systems agent, as well as LDAP and RADIUS integration. So far, we're not using Jumpcloud for SSO and we're using a different provider for Mobile Device Management (MDM).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jumpcloud is in my opinion one of the best options for small businesses like us for Identity Management, especially if they do not yet have an Active Directory (e.g. for Mac-only places).

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Faced challenging issues while trying to do implement domain name changes.

Modern and flexible Identity authority service

  • February 19, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
The integration with core business platforms is great, fills in some gaps between ADDS and hybrid implementations. It’s also very quick to roll out for projects with tighter timelines.
What do you dislike about the product?
At this time there is no MDM, I hope to see that in the future. The options for Linux and Big Sur management is also limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to put customers into a complete cloud environment without having to add a domain controller for identity management, and we aren’t forced to use Azure’s Directory Services, they can keep Worskspace or whomever they are with at the time of deployment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jump cloud is a fantastic alternative to a traditional domain controller, it intergrates well and runs along side our SASE suite.

I like how JumpCloud has made it really easy to take care of user and device management. I don’t need to be a complete admin geek to accomplish most things.
What do you dislike about the product?
For those things a little harder, It would be great to be able to get live chat support. I’m not complaining though because I have had help, just not live.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely worth a try. I tried others and they were difficult to use and did not offer a free tier.

What do you like best about the product?
Central policies to manage all devices in single pane of glass. Central auth to allow users to sign in to multiple devices throughout or
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not a huge fan of the way MFA work. I would prefer it only require MFA on portal side and not local side.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are now able to centrally manage Mac policies as we would with a solution like Jamf. We get the added benefit of being able to enforce central auth for those Mac users.
