Great, new interface is better than before

What do you like best about the product?
LDAP as a service is great for controlling ssh access in our infrastructure. We use it to centrally control logins to our environments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes LDAP is a little flaky and we get some weird connection errors on and off. We get around this with sssd cache but it is slightly annoying. Interface is also a bit confusing and GSuite sync can be a bit odd.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's been really the only service we found that provides SSO plus a good LDAP that can be used to control ssh

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to manage JumpCloud without jumping through a bunch of hoops
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like it to have some more functionality to manage end user PCs and for billing to be a bit better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use this to bind computers to a AD like system without having servers on site.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do a trial of this first to make sure that it fits your needs.

Facing the challenge of replacing aging servers moving to the age of cloud and a serverless environment. I was faced with the challenge of finding a cost-effective cloud-based AD solution. I searched and found JumpCloud started using the free product and the rest is history. They continue to provide a solid cloud based AD platform with alot of added features.

Going fully cloud with Jumpcloud

  • August 15, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Centralized management of our user-base as well as other services they rely on.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have had some random issues where systems would go into a tail spin and constantly lockout users requiring onsite administrator access. We do feel that this is just an early day issue that will eventually get resolved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Synchronization of privileges between different services without Active Directory. We are able to Access control almost all services we rely on without the On Premise Active Directory which was previously required.

Next Level Active Directory

What do you like best about the product?
I like the lightweight but powerful agent that allows you to monitor and control end user machines. I appreciate JumpCloud consistent improvements and innovations based on user feedback and their delivery. The ease and user friendly set up of the Admin console for JumpCloud is pretty easy to manage compared to other products. The simplicity does not downplay the quality of tools offered on the console page.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one issue I had was the agents losing connectivity after windows system updates. Yet, I am seeing improvements when system updates are pushing that the agents are still syncing. The explanation of error messages can improve for remote commands/scripts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to monitor our Bitlocker enabled machines. I can schedule windows updates with ease. The powerful command/script tool make automation easier. I am enable as soon as the agent is installed on end users computers, services and applications required by organization. One examples is in regards file and printer sharing without Administrator credentials. This enable control over certain administrative privileges without affecting their work productivity by having to wait for an Administrator to enable such services on their machine.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would advise trying the AD Bridge if your coming from the Microsoft line of products or even Linux server. The lightweight agent is definitely a plus and not a resource hog. The implementation of command via the admin console are fast and seamless.

More than Directory Services as-a-service! JumpCloud keeps delivering the goods.

What do you like best about the product?
It is excellent for small businesses that use a lot of SaaS software and may not standardize on one OS. It is effortless to enforce password security, 2FA (which also provides a great second layer of protection for SSH connections), makes software provisioning for things like Office 365, G Suite, and other SaaS apps a breeze.

UPDATE: Now that we've been using System Insights and Directory Insights, the depth of knowledge we can collect is staggering. System Insights provides everything from serial number and hardware configuration to installed software and version. Export this for use with your SIEM or patch management service. Likewise, Directory Insights provides a lot of information about logins, cloud authorizations, and so on. Similarly, we can also export and process this data. Also, user password changes are easy for Windows and Mac users via agent integration in the OS.

UPDATE 2: I've starting deploying Windows Software Management packages to my Windows users, and as soon as I can get my Apple Business Manager account sorted, I'll do the same for my MacBook users.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't particularly appreciate that so many other products hide their SAML connectors behind essentially a paywall. I want to integrate everything with JumpCloud, but sometimes the extra cost, usually in an "enterprise" tier plan, isn't justifiable. I ask at any opportunity to use System Insights for dynamic groups, e.g., any laptop with Chrome installed, Windows laptops without a particular update, etc. Another difference I guess is in philosophy. Their approach to retrieving and parsing the data they collect with System Insights differs from mine. For example, I can't sort laptops by an installed application using keywords. If I want to know which Windows laptops have Firefox installed, I need to go to each individual Windows laptop and export everything in System Insights to CSV, then use Excel to find the laptops with Firefox. I ask at each opportunity for a way to create dynamic groups that would automatically include laptops that meet certain requirements, e.g. "windows AND firefox".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
So many! I inherited a hot mess from the previous SysAdmin, and JumpCloud helped me plug so many security gaps in a relatively short amount of time. User passwords, user access provisioning, SSO links to many AWS organizations, group management, Windows and Macbook user and machine policy management. I also can create and deploy local policy items for Mac and Windows. With the new Software Management service, I can easily create application packages to help folks keep things like their browsers up to date automatically instead of trusting that they'll do the updates themselves.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't give up when setting up your first SAML integration, especially AWS which can be an utter pain. It's so easy now I don't even have to use the helpdesk guide. Also, JumpCloud is one of the few SaaS providers that have a roadmap that they stick to. Their service keeps getting better and better. If you use Terraform or similar code-to-infrastructure service, stop making manual changes to Cloud Provider SSO connector configs.

I love JumpCloud - I have implemented it at 3 companies and about to be a 4th

What do you like best about the product?
I do not need Active Directory. I love the SSH key features, I love the SSO/SAML and Radius features
What do you dislike about the product?
Many of the SaaS vendors require enterprise subscriptions which cost more to use SSO/SAML.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Authentication for Windows, Macs and Linux, eliminating Active Directory and all its clutteredness simplifies my IT support issues. The Mac Local Password change menu bar is very useful
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get to know JumpCloud whether you have AD already or not. If you are starting up, use JumpCloud and avoid AD clutter
