JumpCloud, best friendly alternative to Okta

What do you like best about the product?
It was a breeze to setup, handles most of my SSO software and easy for our team to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
The setup, although easy, not that easy for a non tech person. Other than that, it was quite easy and fast to integrate to other platforms we use the most.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I wanted a platform where all users could login from day one to all software needed to do their work and per profile. Designers should have access to all tools, researchers, and developers, JumpCloud made this easy, before, onboarding took SO long for each person.

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use and cost. The best upside is the cloud based platform that can be easily accessed by our systems globally.
What do you dislike about the product?
In our scenario, we have not found any downsides.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have traditionally been an Active Directory customer; however, how our platform is constructed has caused many headaches with support and architecture. Since we are usually 95% Linux based, the requirement for AD is removed by using JC.

What do you like best about the product?
I am so happy to to use JumpCloud 2FA on managed devices. This added security for logging into a computer, helps decrease attack surface and perfect for a lot of the users who are always on the go.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a MSP , I'd like all features available to us as a NFR, so we can test and bring added value to our clients. Most recently is the password manager. I don't like the new billing structure. T 10 users should remain free anything above should be billed for the difference.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing computers outside of an office with security policies. This is helping us move clients off on premise equipment with cloud directory.

LDAP without AD via JumpCloud

What do you like best about the product?
Jumpcloud allows you to manage business user accounts on Mac machines using Microsoft AD/Azure. It is stable and fast, essential when managing numerous user accounts. It allows for Single Sign On, across multiple applications, using Multi-Factor Authentication. It provides Administrators with the security to wipe machines remotely or lock an account. It also allows Administrators to push user accounts to multiple computers. It permits centralised policies, including Disk Vault encryption, and will enable you to run (configuration) scripts remotely.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jumpcloud can be complex to configure, and it's possible to wipe a user account unintentionally if not careful. Also, it can be confusing for end users when changing their passwords, as they may change their passwords in Office.com (formerly Office365), but it can take a few moments for Jumpcloud to update. You then have to enter the new password in the Jumpcloud menu-bar client, and sometimes this doesn't work as efficiently as ideal. You then have to log out of the user account and log back in using the new password. During this process, the computer must have access to the internet. Otherwise, you can get caught in a situation where you are locked out of the computer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jumpcloud allows businesses to work with Mac and Linux machines in scenarios where they need the centralized management of Microsoft AD/Azure. This is no small feat, as it permits many possibilities for working.

Easy to use for a non-technical IT person

What do you like best about the product?
I have used one other MDM provider and found it very complex and difficult to navigate. JumpCloud makes it fairly easy to find what I need and be able to focus on the features that are important to me.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some features that we will never use and it might be nice if we could have a portal that hides things we don't want. As a general admin person at a startup, IT is only part of my job and so I need to be able to pare down the technical stuff that doesn't apply to me or my use case.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our use case is managing a small number of Linux laptops that our other MDM provider will not supervise. JumpCloud allows us to simple deploy the MDM, and then when the employee is no longer with the company or if the laptop is lost, we can lock it down and wipe it to protect our data. That's all we need and JumpCloud does it well.

What do you like best about the product?
The solution is easy to use and the GUI is intuitive. They release a lot of features all year round and the support is responsive.
It's also easy to integrate JumpCloud with Microsoft Azure and synchronize the groups you want.
We were able to easily set up native encryption on our devices (Windows, macOS and Linux) with JumpCloud's pre-configured policies.
We also like the SSH user management which is really easy to set up. Interesting for Microsoft Active Directory users who want to use a centralized SSH management.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is really a lack of effort in the translation of the platform. I think at least the user console could be translated into several languages
Also, it's impossible to extract attributes from the Active Directory with the integration and it prevents us from using attributes within the platform.
It would also be possible to adjust their pricing for people who want to use most of their features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Their LDAPS and RADIUS services are really useful for our needs and to secure our connections with the MFA.
It is also easy to add SSO connectors with their 830 pre-configured connectors.
We are currently working on adding all of our tools to an SSO connection when possible and with the support of OIDC connectors, it will be even easier.

What do you like best about the product?
Admin portal is intuitive and easy to use, device reporting is very helpful. New features come out all the time
What do you dislike about the product?
Pricing isn't as transparent as I'd prefer, some features end up being more hassle than helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jumpcloud is lightweight and simple to implement, saving me time and money. It's flexibility allows me to move quickly for onboarding and offboarding employees and computers

Improving often

What do you like best about the product?
I like that there are many ways I can utilize the tool. For user management, I can add in all users regardless of it they're BYOD or not. Adding in devices is easy enough, especially once you get the hang of it.
More features are steadily being added. They have always been pretty responsive to feedback, and I feel like they are actually listening to what users/administrators want to see out of the product. I have also enjoyed using the JumpCloud Powershell module to gather data or perform bulk actions that I can't do from the admin portal.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some more minor changes can be made, like adding filters in sections that currently don't have any, that would improve the user experience. I also mentioned using the Powershell module to make bulk changes that I couldn't do from the admin portal. It would be nice to be able to do them from the admin portal instead. I just like that even though it's not available in the portal, I have a workaround to still get it done.
I have also encountered a few reporting bugs, in particular ones that report a failed policy implementation when it was, in fact, successfully applied. This is a small detail, but it impacts other reports that gather their information from JumpCloud. Those reports come up as failed/needs work even though that's not really the case. In these particular instances, I was told the reporting error bug would drop off after 90 days, but that has come and passed, but the error remains.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud is helping me keep my company's devices more secure. By monitoring the devices, I can see when I need to take action to get devices back into compliance. There are also more reporting features than I would have thought there'd be and those have good information that I can utilize to follow up on devices.
Keeping track of users and their permissions is easier to do with JumpCloud. All of my users are in JumpCloud. I can create as many user groups as I need to and link multiple applications to those groups to allow my users access to the tools that they need depending on their role.

What do you like best about the product?
An identity management system that works really well. Device management thats easy to use. Policy management that works.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing so far, I'm yet to use certain areas of the system
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
User logins to devices, policy management and secuity. Password management is also a nice bonus.
