JumpCloud Makes it Simple and Easy to Manage Windows User Logins

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud syncs credentials with my PCs.
What do you dislike about the product?
May be difficult to setup if not IT admin
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There is no need to host a costly and inconvenient domain controller. JumpCloud enables me to manage credentials for Windows logins and provides SSO features just by installing the software onto each PC and syncs up over the internet. Everything can be managed using their online web portal and is much simpler versus using an on-site domain controller.

Great Solution, Actually the best

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Based off our prior solution, JumpCloud is always up and ready to work. We Rely on reliability being a healthcare institution and have had no reports of outages or delays from our staff and providers. It was so easy for us to implement and configure, and our deployment time was very minimal-- the interface is intuitive and very easy to use and navigate even for our new IT personnel.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to dislike, the only thing is that it was new and a learning curve to teach our "old dogs" new tricks. The support took a little long to respond to inquiries but once we got connected with our account rep we were golden.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Directory solutions, we are a major organization with multiple locations and sites - having a seamless identity management solution was critical to HIPAA compliance and employee ease of use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Always find an account rep that is there to listen to your individual needs

A great service, with tons of features

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JumpCloud offers many features for a system administrator who needs to integrate with other services and does not want to or can not run an on-prem domain controller. Their integration with other SSO providers is a great feature; Integrating directly with another SSO, like Google Workspace and Microsoft365, has made it easy for my customers to enable Identity Management across their organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
JumpCloud does not offer MDM of phones. As a result, I must use a competing product to manage those devices for my clients. Until just recently, there was no functionality to manage software on a macOS device, and their interface required a system administrator to write and execute scripts to deploy software. I hope they will soon support the management of iOS and Android devices.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zero Touch Deployment, MDM of Windows and macOS devices. Identity Management, LDAP Directory, Directory Insights, Compliance with NIST standards.

Solving: I do not need to run a Windows Domain Controller, and I can manage users across multiple operating systems without competing products (vice iOS/Android). As an MSP, I can also deploy JumpCloud in an existing environment where a customer is using an existing SSO provider (Google Workspace/Microsoft365). This has enabled me to standardize and secure an existing organization without massive changes to the customer's operating behavior.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you have identified and implemented your long-term authentication service. If you plan to use a third-party SSO provider, like Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, get that set up first. Additionally, make sure you have set up Apple VPP and DEP before massive roll-out, as this will enable you to get Zero Touch Deployment working ahead of time, which will save you an enormous amount of time when you ramp up.

Directory service in the cloud made easy

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Super easy to get started. Create users, install clients, and magic happens.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the menus can be hard to decifer. Adding user to machines it counter intutive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was looking for a cloud replacement for AD for my home. Easy to manage kids machine access and permissions

    Computer Software

Viable solution

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Integrated with most major OS platforms; MAC, Windows, and most flavors of Linux.
Cloud-based directory as a service solution (no managing hardware).
SSO offers a broad range of "JIT" provisioning.
What do you dislike about the product?
Support is not very good at all. We've had a few times where we had a major outage, and they took hours before they helped us with premium support. We've also submitted various other tickets where they take a day or more to reach out to us. I understand they have many customers they help, but I feel like when someone is having a major issue they should be able to prioritize that above other things. Their communication has got better, but it stunk for a while. We had to send a nasty email to them to give us updates on things.

Reporting is lacking. The System Insights needs to be overhauled because the only insight that gives you is a per-host basis; there's no graph detailing all this data in a single view (60 Windows machines, 50 MACs, 20 Linux, etc), along with patch levels on those devices.

The agents they deploy are prone to issues on MACs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed an authentication provider that's not AD. The benefits are they it fits our need for the wide range of devices we use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Not many options for cloud-based DaaS if you run multiple OS's.

Made lockdown a lot simpler

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
That all the passwords are kept in-sync and that I can deploy software software simply using its chocolatey intergration
What do you dislike about the product?
Adding your own commands is a little trial and error, extra tools to help with this would be useful, currently, Windows Package Manager is not currently supported and there are no plans to support Chromebooks. It would be useful to add our own information to the portal too, such as information we have gathered using the remote commands system
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As we currently all our users are remote, it has helped onboard new users, bring unification to the machines and ensured when we go to a server, the tools we need are already there and installed

Longtime user - great product

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to set up large numbers of users in a short amount of time. Also easy to revoke access from users who quit or are terminated
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like a better MDM featureset, eventually.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Biggest problem solved with JumpCloud is the centralized list of users, with quick and easy way to grant/deny access to multiple company systems in one place.

    Information Technology and Services

Excellent product

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to leverage Mac. Windows and Linux clients is great. The software management for Windows is excellent since they leverage the chocolatey package manager and the policy manager is a great tool to have to control your equipment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Changes are sometimes not reflected until after a restart which seems a bit slow in certain scenarios.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security is our number one concern and JumpCloud is a step in the right direction. The ability to push policies at an organizational level gives us the flexibility to focus more on work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Their implementation engineers are very helpful in geting you up and running. They also allow you to join their Slack community for sharing ideas and techniques with other JumpCloud users.

JumpCloud makes Directory Services a breeze

  • April 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The integrations between Google, MS365, and Active Directory.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were more integration for the Mac but its getting there! New features coming out all the time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Onboarding and offboarding has become so much easier. Helping clients regardless of if they use Google or Microsoft for their directory helps us deliver consistent service.
