AD as SaaS - No need for a tedious local AD server

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is great to have everything online (it even works offline) and since it is a SaaS solution they continuously try to improve and add to the functionality. Also, you don't need to worry about updates, this is done automatically and it is easy to get started with the solution and you have a great overview of your systems(laptops etc) and users. Also works for a multi-OS environment (Windows, Mac and Linux)

They have support for lots of SSO connections and integrations with both GSuite and Office365, so you can even create users in Jumcloud which gets replicated into these environments. And you can easily add MFA to have the users being even more secure.

JumpCloud also has a great support team which is super friendly and helpful in solving any potential issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
The focus lately has been on enterprise functionality which is not relevant for us (we are a smaller company) and we have encountered lockout of users when you change the password on a laptop but the mobile has the old password.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
* Centralized overview of user/systems
* Centralized logs
* Centralized application updates
* Staying compliant with ISO27001
* SSO integration with apps
* Multiple OS management (Windows, Mac and Linux)
* LDAP and Radius services
* Possible to run PowerShell commands remotely
* Multifactor Authentication (MFA)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its the future way for AD, especially now during the pandemic where people are forced to work from home, this solution works on a global scale.

Good AD alternative for managing users for cloud servers

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy and straightforward to setup and has worked reliably for our use-case.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really has come up but we certainly have not used all the features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a fleet of Windows Servers in the cloud environment, along with some Linux and BDS ones, and the biggest problem before discovering JumpCloud was how to centrally manage user logins for the Windows ones without having to resort to installing Active Directory (which comes with its own MS licensing headaches in the hosted environment) or having duplicate local user accounts for each servers. JumpCloud nicely solved this problem by allowing us to create users centrally to their directory and then maintaining the local users accounts accordingly on each servers.

Active Directory No Longer Fits the Needs of a Modern IT Department

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Several years ago the typical worker would enter a building, go to a workstation, login and access everything they needed via servers physically located in their office building. But as digital strategy and cloud adoption increased, the way in which users accessed IT resources has changed. The perimeter around work, once bound to a physical location, has transformed. Now, a user’s device — irrespective of location — is the central point from which a user gets secure access to the right resources. At the same time, authentication and authorization needs have evolved.

It’s no surprise that business have increasingly turn to Zero Trust, a security model that meets the continually evolving needs of modern workplaces. Zero Trust is a set of cybersecurity protocols that move defenses from static, network-based perimeters to focus on users, assets and IT resources. Zero Trust security embodies the “trust nothing, verify everything” principle. JumpCloud helps you implement controls to ensure users work only on trusted devices and networks, require multi-factor authentication (MFA) where necessary, and more.

JumpCloud provides simple, secure access to corporate technology resources from any device or any location. The JumpCloud Directory Platform gives IT and security operations a single, cloud-based solution to control and manage employee identities, their devices and apply Zero Trust principles. JumpCloud has a global user base of more than 100,000 organizations.

JumpCloud offers:
* Replacement of Microsoft Active Directory connecting your users to IT resources with a single identity eliminating on-premise hardware.
* Microsoft Active Directory Integration feature to extend on-premise AD identities to non-domain resources like Mac, Linux, web apps, and more.
* Secured Access to Windows, Mac and Linux computers.
* Simplied onboarding and offboarding of employees.
* Compatability with LDAP, RADIUS, SAML, OAuth and Restful APIs.
* Single Sign-On - one identity for users to access their laptop, wifi and apps.
* Integrations with G Suite, Microsoft365, AWS, Salesforce and more.
* Advanced security from TLS encryption to password complexity settings and Multi Factor Authentication (MFA).
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike with JumpCloud.

Easy to setup, easy to maintain LDAP solution

  • February 22, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that there's an agent for every type of OS, and that it integrates seamlessly. It's easy to install and maintain. No bloody updates, no downtime.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface isn't the most intuitive if you're not tech. A "dumbed down" version or simple mode could perhaps assist non-tech people administer their instances better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
No problems, it just works. We've prevented computers being compromised multiple times due to the lockout automated process. Benefits, as per TCO are very high!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Test, read the documentation, deploy, administer. No more to it... :)
