Great technical SEO tool

What do you like best about the product?
Great for large websites. Pretty easy to use and allows you to sort and filter by anything you can think of. Good at pointing out large content/tech issues on your site but also finding smaller issues that you might not have known were there.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because of performance restrictions, it takes quite a bit of time to crawl our full site. Not really Botify's fault, but I wish we were able to run them quicker/more frequently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Preparing for a website migration, general site cleanup, monitoring mobile-first indexing. Benefits- having a track record of all issues found on your site (great for benchmarking during a migration); breaking up fixes into bite-sized pieces that can be sent to the appropriate team to fix; an easy way to monitor log files.

What do you like best about the product?
I haven't been working with Botify for a long time so I can't give an in-depth review, but from my experience so far, Botify strategists and account managers have been incredibly helpful. Always responding to emails in a timely manner and providing their expertise when needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Again, I haven't been working with Botify for a long time so I can't give an in-depth review, there hasn't been anything that I dislike so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm trying to find and fix technical errors on our site with Botify.

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to intuitively create custom reports with metrics that matter allows for easy insight. The ability to access the API is also beneficial for enterprise websites.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally, crawls take a long time. There is a bit of a learning curve in order to make the most out of the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Indexation success, faulty status code sources, and additional metrics that merge with traditional indicators.

What do you like best about the product?
I lover the user experience and ease of the tool. I think the Keywords Explorer is the most helpful portion in creating a good strategy for your SEO efforts.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think i need to be trained more on the platform to fully understand how to use it to the best ability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Finding the best keywords for each page, and also finding opportunities that we didn't think to research and implement throughout pages.

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to automatically ingest log files and Search Console data have been particularly helpful. Being able to define page type segments and create segments based on HTML snippets is another nice feature that has enabled more advanced analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few occasions where I'd like to drill down or filter a certain report/graph and it's not possible but other than that, no deficiencies I can think of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Botify to identify new SEO opportunities, ranging from site structure issues to on-page SEO issues to duplicate content concerns.

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to see the crawl data compared to the logfile data on our larger portals has been very helpful. The depth and filtering options really let us dig deep into the data to get actionable insights.
What do you dislike about the product?
For the number of pages and sites we have in our portfolio, the price tag is a bit high so I was hesitant at first, but for the value, we are happy with our decision to go with Botify.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
How often is Google visiting our content and at what frequency? What pages are considered to have thin content? How many levels deep do users have to navigate to get to our best content? No matter how cleaned up we think our sites are, Botify helps us keep the health of our site strong.

Botify - A Must-Have for Enterprise SEO

  • August 07, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When managing thousands of URLs, a tool like Botify is a necessity. Botify immediately helped to identify duplicate content, thin content, crawl issues and allowed me to see areas of my site that were not being crawled.

If you operate a large e-commerce site with multiple page types, Botify really is a must-have. Google Search Console can give you good data, but not enough to make actionable, data-driven decisions. Additionally, Botify has a very clean UI that I personally think is easier to navigate compared to other tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initially, the account support was not great. We signed a contract, set everything up to be crawled and then the support disappeared. I think they assume SEOs will just figure out the platform without any support. Our team began asking for dashboards and reports to help understand where we could find opportunities, then things eventually got better.

Now, I feel comfortable with the platform and support isn't really required. For new clients, I recommend they have at least a month of dedicated training to use the Botify platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We resolved duplicate content issues, we're working on thin content issues and I can now routinely see http response issues - 404 / 401 error pages, too many 301 redirects, etc.

I also discovered an issue with canonical tags I was not seeing through Google Search Console. It's a major technical issue we had on the site that was only discovered through the rendered HTML Botify was showing (not through the raw HTML).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a must-have tool for large websites, particularly e-commerce sites.

Awesome enterprise SEO tool!

What do you like best about the product?
At the scale we're operating at (12M+ pages), Botify is crucial to making sure we're maintaining SEO best practices, by simulating how a search engine crawler would view our site.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the interface can be a little clunky - Botify has a ton of features and data, but it's not super clear what a new user should pay attention to first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Botify to ensure that our site is crawlable, both in terms of depth and breadth, and also to alert us of any technical issues that we might have missed.

More than just a crawler/log file analysis tool

  • July 24, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to drill into any/all data and combine datasets. Botify is the most flexible tool I've ever used when it comes to digging deep into your website's data. They collect damn-near everything you'd ever need and a seasoned SEO can find answers to almost anything.

The cherry on top is the built-in reports/dashboards--it gives me the ability to get C-level buy-in and then measure highly technical SEO projects that are traditionally extremely difficult to get resources allocated for, and even harder to show what progress was made once the Development pieces are complete.
What do you dislike about the product?
Setting up custom reports on your own is a bit cumbersome and has a steeper than desired learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Duplicate content across product pages - Botify helps identify the biggest problem pages and then prioritize those pages based on metrics that typically had to be painstakingly paired with other data sources (think combining Copyscape data with Google Analytics data)

Crawl budget bleed - Our site has millions of pages, which eats through Google's allotted crawl budget fairly quickly. Worse still, the JS, APIs and third-party files on the site bog down Google's crawling and rendering to the point where some pages are not updated in Google's index for months on end. Botify shows us exactly what page types, pages, and files are eroding crawl budget and has allowed us to take action by either blocking via robots.txt, refactoring our JS, and moving away from client-side JS and APIs and to server-side rendering. We've seen a positive and immediate impact from these types of projects.

Site speed monitoring - We can measure our site speed improvements at the pagetype level over time.

Technical debugging - On multiple occasions, a web release has broken URL structure for crawlers. Without Botify reporting on log files, we would have been unaware of these issues and unable to pinpoint what caused a drop in rankings until many of the URLs make it into Google's index (and at that point you're already screwed)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use the log file analyzer and check the data weekly! It's 2019--a good log analyzer should be at the top of nearly every SEO's toolbox.
