Great Coding Assessment for Software Engineer Position at Quora

  • November 05, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I liked the clean interface while doing the coding challenge and nice UI for making custom tests was also a plus. Also really liked the end report at the end which showed how I did on the challenge.
What do you dislike about the product?
I disliked the part when I started the coding challenge and it showed me that my browser is compatible with screen proctoring and then it seemed like it got stuck. I later realized that there was a slight scroll to see the next button. I think that scroll is unnecessary and it confused me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used CodeSignal for doing my coding assessment for Quora. The great benefit of CodeSignal is that companies can do proctoring which can assure that students don't teach during their assessment.

What do you like best about the product?
I love that it is both a useful platform for hiring teams to interview and test candidates as well as a useful platform for job seekers to train their interview skills. Beyond that it is a simple to use, intuitive product.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't point to many downsides. We'd like to ability at some point to create custom tests but the team and CodeSignal does a nice job of working with us to create what we need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using CodeSignal to evaluate Engineering candidates and it has been a great tool to get objective skill based signals.

What do you like best about the product?
The software easily assess's the participants coding skills, but also ensures they are not skipping to another tab to look at answers to questions!
What do you dislike about the product?
Custom feedback questions would be nice so the interviewer can customize the feedback rubric. Sometimes there are connection issues as CodeSignal is using the P2P ports that are blocked by most businesses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are interviewing students for our Masters program and ensuring coding skills are at the right level. It will allow us to ensure a better quality intake.

Great technical assessment automation tool

  • September 20, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
CodeSignal has minimized the amount of time our team spends on assessing candidates' programming skills. It's easy to use and the candidates seem to enjoy it as well. The plagiarism detector and playback are great features that have proven to be quite useful. CodeSignal's extensive library of tests/questions has been great to use and when we want to implement custom questions, their team works on getting these implemented.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reporting features could be a bit more robust.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Minimized time spent in the recruiting/interview process.

What do you like best about the product?
There is a lot of technical questions that are generic and available for multiple languages.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of NodeJS specific question that could be used to know if a potential candidate is an expert in it or not.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better technically evaluate the potential candidates.

Great tool for interviewing

  • September 19, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The automated unit tests in a task and that the tests also have timeouts.
Also the automated tests we can send to candidates and that those tests have grade, time and reply.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes if candidate's connection is not that good, candidate and interviewer see different things.
That we need to talk to the team to add new File System tests
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With the automated tests we can pass/reject a candidate without an interview.
We can make remote interviews without problems.
With the File System tests we can use projects to do different tests.

What do you like best about the product?
The questions were right for the length of time.
What do you dislike about the product?
The output was a little slow. I’d prefer to also have a shell to run test code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Taking a technical screen.

Phenomenal assessment solution especially for university recruiting!

  • June 23, 2019
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to send out a standardized assessment and get certified results back has made our university recruiting process a joy. Before CodeSignal, we were forced to review thousands of student resumes, discard most of them for very subjective reasons and send the rest to be reviewed by our hiring managers.

Now we send everyone who applies or expresses interest in the company a CodeSignal Certification request and based on their Coding Score we move them to an onsite interview. How beautiful is that? Saves us a lot of engineering and recruiting time and finds for us hidden gems that we would have never been able to find purely based on resumes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish they had a better integration with Yello since that would make our process even faster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Streaming the process for engineers and recruiters
- Build a more diverse pipeline of candidates and eliminate resumes based biases
- Hire great new grad engineers in less time and while spending less money

Ideal for testing candidates

  • May 24, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
CodeSignal is very easy to use, super fast to get started with and has saved our recruiting team countless hours since we've implemented it.

What I like the most is the ability to put the assessments at the very top of the funnel and find candidates we wouldn't have considered otherwise. It's not only the right thing to do but has helped us scale our top of the funnel without spending a lot of time and money with expensive recruiting agencies. We just advetise our job posting on all platforms, get thousands of candidates and then ask them to complete a General Coding Assessment through CodeSignal.

This way we are not discriminating using Resumes and giving everyone a fair chance while hiring an awesome team of engineers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing major but I'd love to see Machine Learning certifications on CodeSignal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Saving recruiting time spent on unqualified candidates.
- Increasing our top of the funnel by tapping into candidate pools we weren't considering before.
- Increasing diversity in the team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are hiring for engineers at a scale you have to consider using CodeSignal. It makes life much easier.

What do you like best about the product?
The assessment platform is phenomenal. Generates a very accurate signal for skills especially with new grad candidates. I've also used it with more senior candidates and it can work well there too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Expanding to information security and system design would be a great addition.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automatically evaluating technical skills of engineering candidates.
