Grammarly is a fantastic tool for improving clarity, tone, and structure in writing. Its real-time suggestions make emails, reports, and proposals far more polished. The tone detector and rewrite suggestions are especially helpful for professional communication. It’s great at catching subtle grammar issues, punctuation errors, and phrasing improvements that humans often overlook. The Chrome extension and app integrations make it effortless to use everywhere, from Outlook to LinkedIn.
What do you dislike about the product?
It’s not always context-aware. While it’s great at grammar, sometimes it over-simplifies or changes the intended meaning, especially in technical, legal, or marketing-heavy writing. It also occasionally flags stylistic choices that are actually deliberate. The premium version is fairly expensive for individual users, and the plagiarism checker isn’t as robust as a dedicated tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps maintain consistency and professionalism across all communication, especially when multiple team members write customer-facing content. It reduces proofreading time and helps non-native English writers sound more natural and confident. It also helps me improve my writing skills by explaining errors, boosting my confidence when typing important emails and work documents. Even the free version is pretty useful for basic writing needs. I find features like tone detection, clarity improvement, and writing style suggestions very helpful, though they are part of the premium version. The setup was easy and quick; I just created an account and added the browser extension. Grammarly makes me write with confidence and is generally a very helpful tool for students, freelancers, or any online worker. I primarily use Grammarly with tools like Gmail, Google Docs, and when writing emails or filling out online forms. I highly recommend it to others, giving it a 9 out of 10.

It even assists me in crafting WhatsApp messages with proper grammar. It also corrects my spelling and automatically suggests the appropriate writing tone.
What do you dislike about the product?
The really dislike the popups especially while I am using MS word. Also the big thick red underlines is an irritant sometimes. Otherwise I am happy with Grammarly.

My supervisor frequently provides updates on articles or suggests edits following review meetings, so I find Grammarly very helpful for paraphrasing, editing, and enhancing my writing. From time to time, I also use it to check the plagiarism of reports submitted by my coworkers or interns.

The pricing structure should be reconsidered, as the monthly subscription charges are much higher compared to the yearly subscription. If someone only needs the service for a short period, they end up spending more money than they would with a longer-term plan. It would also be beneficial if they could introduce some add-ons for Outlook to enable Grammarly checks.

It's the best tool to assist with cross-checking grammar, spelling & punctuation. And specially because it works in real time and across various browsers and apps therefore saving a lot of time.

Probably the only issue that I'd have is that it often times makes my writing sound more formal & rigid. It's unable to recognize the tone & intentionality in some instances and therefore ends up making the content seem a little unnatural.

Grammarly is standardized and seems like the most correct app available for teaching or correcting grammar. Also, the teachings and corrections are top-notch.

If I'm writing creatively, like fiction or conversational blog posts, I sometimes intentionally use a sentence fragment or start a sentence with a conjunction. Grammarly almost always flags this as an error and tries to push me toward a more 'correct,' but ultimately blander, style. I find myself clicking 'Dismiss' a lot.
