How and Why Lucidchart rocks!

  • March 10, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is control-oriented and NOT convenience-oriented.
I have been a designer since 1985 and I have seen a lot of bad design tools come and go.
I am grateful that Lucidchart focuses on allowing the user to have the right amount of control (the Adobe model).
Most of the bad design software try to make things easy on the user and take away design decisions (the Microsoft model).
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some limitations to the control like when I move a box that is joined to another the line connecting leaps to another part of the page.
I do not have the color control that I want
I would love keyboard control (up and down arrows with [shift] = x10) adjusting HSB colors
(There was a recent change in the default colors that I cannot get back. This is not a problem, but I have to juggle to use the pallet that I had created based on the old defaults.)
There may be more things that I dislike but mostly, I am self-taught and have not used any of the training so I assert that there are workarounds that I do not yet know.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am now a Business Process Improvement Analyst for a Solar company. We are defining our workflows to upgrade our growth. I use Lucidchart to bypass the granular and overcome the siloed nature of the companies departments.

A good clean flowchart provides clarity to teams. With clarity a shared vision becomes accessable.

Design anything

What do you like best about the product?
Lucidchart let's me get the critical components of my businesses designed quickly and effectively. Whether I'm building an app, a process, or trying to articulate an idea to others, I find the tool can accomplish any of these tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I would rather have the speed the speed of simply diagramming as code. However there are a couple ways to inject plantuml into Lucidchart to get around this limitation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an entrepreneur my use cases range from articulating a business process, to collaborating with my engineering team around our cloud hosting requirements, to putting together customer or investor facing documentation.

Great tool for diagramming, documenting, architecting solutions and specifications

What do you like best about the product?
The GUI is very intuitive, much more intuitive than Visio. The symbol sets and icon sets are always current and high resolution. The documents are easily accessible from the web. The template sets are rich and offer great assistance to all business professionals.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only nitpick I have is that the mouse handler is sensitive and sometimes it will draw an arrow to a shape that I didn't want it. It is rare and easily fixed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Lucichart for many aspects of my job. Development workflows are a breeze with Lucid. I create wireframes for Windows, iOS and Android with Lucid Chart.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It mat be difficult to leave Visio, or there may be other web-based tools out there, but Lucid Chart is fast, easy and powerful and worth the switch

Lucid Chart is flexible enough for all types of diagramming

  • March 10, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to use so many different shapes and templates that are customizable to your use case. It is really easy to use and share with others.
What do you dislike about the product?
I know there is a feature around dynamic lines that move with the shape but it is not turned on by default. I don't remember to do it while I am building a diagram and it frustrates me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to map DNA matches in my genealogy business. Being able to build a family tree that has only the people I want has helped me to solve issues for clients who are looking for their birth parents. It creates a simple visual where tools like Ancestry.com can't do the same thing. It makes it easier to explain the process and the results to clients when there is a complex amount of DNA matches. I also use it with my Tech clients to map new system processes simply.

Game Changer

What do you like best about the product?
I have used a number of different diagramming tools. Lucidchart is by far the best tool that I have used. Especially with the onset of so many digital meetings Lucidchart really help with communicating what is being discussed.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really don't have many dislikes of the tool. I would like there to potentially be more shapes, but that is a minor issue. Very minor issue is sometimes the placement of copy and paste is very strange.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lucidchart helps us communicate internally and with clients. Benefits include:
1) Easy to use tool
2) You can create elegant discussion diagrams
3) Easy to share with clients and internal stakeholders.

Good product for conveying workflows and process flows

  • March 10, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I've used Lucidchart for creating process flows and for creating wireframes. I find that it is particularly useful for thinking through new process flows. The usability is pretty straightforward in creating the flows as is the functionality to share those flows with colleagues so that they can review and comment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lucidchart has some limited wireframing functionality. I can usually get what I need with some compromising, but I would love to see more common UX images and shapes available. Balsamiq is an example of a wireframing product that has a robust set of icons, images, and shapes. It would be great to see Lucidchart get to that level so that I could use Lucidchart for both steps in the early product design process: diagram the user flow and create the wireframes for the user facing screens.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a product manager, I use Lucidchart to first think through the user flows, and the product is pretty good for that purpose. Since my company doesn't have a product for creating wireframes, I make Lucidchart work for me as best as possible to think through the structure of the user-facing screens of the user flow that I created in Lucidchart.

What do you dislike about the product?
To be honest, nothing. I have no issues with this at all. The tool is very well put geother and sovles all the problems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm a product manager so being able to layout everything is amazing
