SPSS For all your Analytical Needs
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the ease of use with SPSS. The ability to be able to paste syntax out of the menu options, the extensive help manual, and the ease of keeping and re-running syntax for multiple uses.
What do you dislike about the product?
For extensive data manipulation and/or cleaning needs and the use of macros, SPSS is less than stellar. There are other software products that are much better and easier to execute than SPSS for these tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly been working on finding insights on data collected through research endeavors. The results change but are fascinating none the less and SPSS is a powerful tool that has so many different ways of looking at the data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
User friendly and easy to navigate. Be cautious though as the results are best interpreted by those with a statistical background for each of the tests conducted.
Easy to use, great for beginners
What do you like best about the product?
Drop down menus to walk the user through
What do you dislike about the product?
Less ability to customize and do complex analyses
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Clinical research statistics, survey statistics
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use online forums for help
Still the king of the stats package
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about SPSS is its versatility. Whether it's simple frequency distributions or non-linear regression analysis, SPSS is powerful enough to handle it all.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've been using SPSS for 30 years so I've worked my way through any issues I might have had.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a market researcher, all of my quantitative research is run through SPSS. I've recently used it to build a customer satisfaction index for a mass transit authority to replace its ill fitting use of Net Promoter Score.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely worth the trial
Complicated, doesn’t work well on mac
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to run all my stats. The clean layout and visually appealing design. The organization of the output and the ability to save your syntax for later is amazing
What do you dislike about the product?
Poor use on Mac, very complicated to use. I’ve taken several courses on it and it’s still difficult
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Psychological problems. Such as looking at the predictors of sexual distress in hematological cancer patients. Allows for research
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take courses on how to use it
User friendly stat analysis
What do you like best about the product?
User friendly. Very easy to learn . Results are easy to understand
What do you dislike about the product?
Gives very detailed results which makes the results window very complex. No coding makes life easy
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Statistical data analysis. Quickly gain the results
Recommendations to others considering the product:
ideal for small data. if you are new to coding and need to do some analysis this is a nice option. beginners can learn fast. even with a basic statistics knowledge you can analyse a data set. Ideal for Categorical data analysis.
Good statistical software for other deciplines
What do you like best about the product?
Easy user interface. Easy to learn and has many functionalities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Less controllability than statistical programming languages like R
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Descriptive statistics and basic hypothesis testing
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Come features might be difficult to find within menus so be prepared to read the manual
IBM SPSS
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use interface, simple point, and click for statistical analyses.
What do you dislike about the product?
IBM continues to raise the price for SPSS and it lacks many post hoc analysis features found in other stats packages. In addition, the graphs produced by SPSS are rather basic and difficult to revise.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use SPSS in my research methods class and to analyze my own research data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
SPSS is the easiest stats package out there, however, it l lacks many features included in newer programs such as R. It is very cost-prohibitive, especially when compared to the open-source packages available. If one has the time and energy to learn to program in R, I recommend going that direction.
SPSS~ Practical Excellence
What do you like best about the product?
The program is straightforward and has many options for students, grads and scholars, particularly in the social sciences. Being able to add macros, such as PROCESS is also useful. The output sheets are easy to navigate and to export as a pdf if needed. Highly recommended. It's useful for analyses large numbers of cases and for exploring data to 'read' patterns and getting to know it, so that it is more than just numbers. It's a great package for newbies to data analysis to use given the wealth of support resources online and offline to help one to navigate or to learn tips and tricks.
What do you dislike about the product?
That the contrast and post-hoc tests are not as accurate as PSI (UNSW). It does take a little time to learn the layout and switching between data view and variable view, but within an hour you get the hang of that and navigating the numerous options on the tool bar. It is recommended that you use a reference book as you are learning. I continue to use one when I run a test as one can easily forget the numerous options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I support undergraduates and post-graduates with research reports, stats learning and thesis analysis. SPSS IBM helps students to rapidly and easily analyse their data and obtain a meaningful story from their data.
SPSS is the best software for psychological statistical analyses and research projects.
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility and ease of running analyses, adding new data and variables.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is often information missing about effect size on certain variables.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Completing my research projects. Ability to download data from other programs (i.e. Excel, Qualtrics).
