Complete Statistics Package Without Spending Hours on Coding
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS offer a robust set of analytics packages with a user-friendly drag and drop and approach. It performs everything other packages such as SAS and R without requiring the user to have extensive knowledge in programming.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be tough to find where to change defaults such as the alpha level from .05 to .1.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving issues with grouping observations into similar clusters. The two-stage clustering solution as well as the traditional hierarchical and non hierarchical provide strong insights.
There are better alternatives
What do you like best about the product?
There's not much that I like. It is good for people who want to rely on a basic GUI for stats and not have easy customization ability.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is expensive - not feasible unless you work for an organization that is able and willing to purchase it. It's clunky, data has to be in wide format, and it's difficult to customize visualizations efficiently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've used it for data analysis and visualization.
Great for number crunching but not for modeling
What do you like best about the product?
Quick output of results. Number crunching and available statistics is powerful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not very intuitive. The UI can definitely be improved and made more user friendly.

Working on statistical figures that would either be very hard to work out manually in Excel or just not be supported by Excel.
A complete statistics program for examining all your data
What do you like best about the product?
Many programmed tests for examining the data. It is also a well-arranged program.
What do you dislike about the product?
It may take a while to load the program. However, this can also be caused by my computer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When examining data for, for example, the thesis, it is a great program.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Buy a book with an explanation of the static tests and how to use them.

The simple interface. Easy-to-use toolbar.

The help and learning materials are not sufficient.

Decent program for statistics
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS is a powerful tool for any statistical operation. There are also a lot of tutorials, not only from IBM themselves but also from the community. The output from the several analyses look decent and can be customized to an extent.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool itself looks a bit outdated, but that does not influence its functions. It has a steep learning curve, which means that you could feel lost when first using the program (at least that's how I felt). But again there are some great documentations that show how to use the program.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I mostly use SPSS for analysing marketing related data for my study.

The most helpful thing about SPSS is that it is user friendly. The manual really helps when I do not know how to use a certain feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the syntax aspect of SPSS. It would be helpful if the guide was more detailed regarding the syntax portion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SPSS allows me to conduct research in my doctoral studies and has helped me work in my thesis. I will continue to use SPSS throughout my doctoral education.

Very graphic user interface, easy to use instructions, multiple statistical features, greasy IBM support, large community online for help

The licensing design, no full versions available, often struggles to open on older computers and run smoothly
