A software made for social scientists
What do you like best about the product?
In my current position, IBM SPSS is an essential software to fulfill my labor tasks, since I use this software daily for the construction and analysis of databases of the different communities to which we provide services in the sociological area. IBM SPSS has countless statistical tools necessary to perform my analysis as a worker. I use a lot the crossing of variables, construction of hypothesis, percentiles, sampling, graphs, tables and reports necessary to present analysis that comes from sociological research. With these tools I can make probabilities, predictions of events and planning of activities that benefit the communities, fulfilling my objectives as a sociological analyst and the goals in my work.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I started using this software in my work, it was a little complicated to learn each of its tools and how to use them properly to get the results I expected, however, I instructed myself in the use of IBM SPSS reading tutorials, and to this day I handle it quite skillfully, getting the analytical results I want.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A software with an impressive amount of tools for data analysis from a social science perspective. A software that has added many attributes and skills to my job performance, since I can perform analysis of the information I collect, making quality reports to be presented to my bosses. Without a doubt, this software has enhanced my skills as a social worker and scientist.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This software must be present in all companies that need to analyze databases, as it has a considerable amount of tools needed to obtain the best analytical results for planning activities, formulating public policies, behavior patterns, and trends. Without a doubt, this software allows you to improve the functions that a company performs in its field of specialization.
We quantitatively analyze our management with IBM SPSS
What do you like best about the product?
One of my obligations as Project Manager Communications in my company, is to do all the analysis of people who come to our Health Center with different pathologies, this analysis requires the construction of databases for analysis; I can achieve this with IBM SPSS software, a powerful software that allows me to analyze databases of the people we serve and apply different types of statistical methods such as hypothesis contrasts, percentiles, probabilities and graph analysis, necessary to have conclusions that allow us to develop business policies to offer better health services to our visitors, or to count the number of people who visit us annually. I use IBM SPSS, because it allows me to make different combinations of variables in the graph and with this I can make hypotheses that serve me to make regulations, project designs, work proposals, always based on approaches that benefit our patients.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, the reports of results that I obtain when using the software, offers me unnecessary information or that I do not want, therefore, I must select in detail the information that I need to make my analyses and work proposals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This software has everything I need to carry out my management analysis in the best possible way, since it offers me a series of interesting data that I combine with different types of variables and hypotheses that I formulate to make the most complete management analysis of our Management. IBM SPSS combines many necessary tools to analyze databases, and therefore, our visitors, making our Health Management is strengthened and my management as Manager as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A software that I always recommend to all those who have to do management analysis based on the quantitative data they receive, since IBM SPSS has the most complete statistical tools of a data package software. With this software your technical analyses will be much more nutritious and with more content to analyze.
Excellent for both noobs and experts
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS Statistics saves a lot of time when you would like to see trends in your data. Before, I was using Excel to calculate mean, median, and mode. It worked fine, but it was rather tedious when I wanted to analyze different groups of data. With SPSS, it is much easier to just open the raw Excel file and run a bunch of tests.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has a little bit of a learning curve. I am still watching videos so I can learn how to do everything. I have no prior experience with this kind of data analysis program. It also looks "ugly" and intimidating. However, both of these things may be overlooked after investing some time into learning how to use it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using this software to determine key prospects. I need to know what characteristics to look out for. First I examined all the people who have already made themselves known. Then I am able to find their common characteristics and use that to find the unknown prospects that are waiting to be discovered.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend using this software no matter how long you have been into data mining or analysis. It may seem intimidating at first, but there's a lot you can do with it. Just look up some webinars on YouTube and things like that. It's free and easy to follow. Then you will realize that anyone can learn how to use SPSS.

What do you like best about the product?
My current job relies heavily on all the tools that IBM SPSS has, as it is the number one software in database analysis. I have been using this software since I was a student at the university and now I use it in my working day getting great benefits that only this software can give me. Thanks to IBM SPSS, I can establish database filters based on the health conditions that people suffer, or the State in which they live, the condition of their pathologies and the administrative status of their health cases, which allows me to track each of these cases and give quick responses to requests made by people who come to our company in search of solutions for their pathologies. As a researcher and social worker, IBM SPSS contributes a lot to my professional performance because it allows me to analyze each of the data I have in my databases and add hypotheses and variables to my analysis, taking full advantage of the benefits this software provides me and its analysis of variables through statistics. IBM SPSS has many necessary tools to do my job in the best way, taking into account that I use databases daily.
What do you dislike about the product?
A software that offers you so many tools and functions to make analysis of variables and databases, makes this software a little difficult to use, as it has tools quite complex to use as are the formulas, crossing variables, elaboration of graphs and probabilities, percentiles and other statistical tools that require an initial study and a lot of practice in the use of software to fully master it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This software has not only contributed to my growth as a worker but has perfected each of my professional and intellectual skills. I owe IBM SPSS a lot, as it has been my ally for many years in research work and has now made my job performance very complete. I am very grateful for all that I have learned from this software.

This software is mandatory for all of us who study social sciences and currently apply all our knowledge acquired at work. IBM SPSS is the pioneer software in data analysis, and I can corroborate this every day in my work because I get excellent results when I use it. Without a doubt it is a very competitive and high-end software that you must use in your workspace.
Incredibly powerful statistics software
What do you like best about the product?
There is a lot you can do with this tool. It is very powerful and useful. The best part is the ability and efficiency with running a multi-variable analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one drawback from this tool due to the complexity is the difficulty it is to learn. There is so much to it and a lot of it is foreign until you take the time to experiment with it and learn the ins and outs of it.

What do you like best about the product?
To quote Marshawn Lynch holding a soda gun at Appleby's- "So much power". SPSS has become the gold standard for managing statistical analysis. Can manage huge data sets with ease.

After being acquired by IBM, help/support services have really gone down and are disappointing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Manage analysis, tables, visualizations all in one place.

What do you like best about the product?
Simple and easy to use and learn, most of the functions are visual, simple operation of the mouse can complete some functions, do not need to write complex code statements, there are a complete variety of language reference books for learning.
What do you dislike about the product?
R language than flexible, low scalability, software is too large, easy to consume memory.

In social sciences, such as economic analysis, market research and other scenarios, SPSS is used for preliminary model analysis, data mining, quantitative analysis and prediction analysis.

What do you like best about the product?
Excellent Software have using it since my undergraduate, useful and robust for statistical analysis, It is good at descriptive analysis like Mean, Median,Mode,deviation and variance also a perfect software for ANOVA, chi square, I would recommend it to anyone either in the scientific field or academic

I find it too useful search that i couldn't see notice any negativity in it

I like the smart/calculator functions just like in excel. This is a great place to work through large amounts of data, has more advanced functions than excel

Huge program- doesn't work well on older or slower computers

I used this primarily for research in a graduate assistant role. This program allows users to process information unlike any other software

More in-program help functions. I only ever learned how to do anything in SPSS from friends or coworkers, whereas excel is easy to learn internally. SPSS users need help! Make help easily accessible.
