A great tool for the statistical analysis of data for its simplicity and nice-looking outputs

What do you like best about the product?
It is an excellent software for handling big data. it allows in a simple way to import data and to analyze without great technical knowledge. It is easy to perform from simple statistical calculations, descriptive statistics, data validation to inferential or predictive statistics.
It is designed in a simple and user-friendly way since it is not necessary to use complex knowledge to encode data when using qualitative data.
The output are formatted nicely. This is an ideal software for research for non-technical people..
What do you dislike about the product?
Due to the large number of possibilities for the treatment and analysis of data, it can be quite overwhelming to pick an analysis, especially if the differences between each of the analysis possibilities it provides are not clear. This also means that it is necessary to dedicate a considerable time to explore each one of the possibilities that it offers and to see the tutorials offered for the use of the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used IBM SPSS to analyze data for some of my researches
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are not very familiar with statistics, this is a good software to use.

    Hospital & Health Care

What do you like best about the product?
the simple interface that you can easily use once you figure out the statistical method you want to use for your data plus the important syntax command utility
What do you dislike about the product?
sometimes I have a problem with merging different datasets especially from other applications like Excel
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
allows me to figure out if the data analysis i am doing is having a statistical significance or not

New SPSS

What do you like best about the product?
Like the new windows-based design- it is a huge improvement from the earlier versions of the software.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dislike the module-based system. The base software has very little in it- most of the important procedures come in additional modules.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For modeling, particularly demographic modeling. Decision-tree modeling..

    Research

A software for statistical analysis that needs training

  • June 26, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It can basically do any type of analysis that I required so far
What do you dislike about the product?
Some tools are not too obvious. Some playing around is required or training is necessary
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Statistical evaluation of bigger sample sizes

Experience with SPSS Statistics

What do you like best about the product?
I like how streamlined all of its features are-- it's only too easy to do a single task without being clouded by other potential activities.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is really nothing I don't like about SPSS Statistics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I run statistical analyses of data and numbers to identify trends, and to determine what information is important and what deserves to be done away with.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Trust the data-- if there's no significant information, it's not significant.

    Higher Education

comprehensive and versatile statistical analysis tool with a wide range of features and capabilities

  • June 17, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Although it takes some time to master SPSS, its super-fun. Recommended to graduate students or people in statistics classes. Quick and easy installation, awesome customer service.
What do you dislike about the product?
Expensive, few advanced modelling and statistical approaches cannot be done. Limited functionality for complex analysis and lacks many regression analysis techniques. Can be slow at times. R and Matlab could be better in few aspects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For researchers and businesses, IBM SPSS Statistics means increased productivity, better-informed decisions, and a competitive edge in their respective fields.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommended

Great but confusing

What do you like best about the product?
Gives me the most in depth and customizable analysis of any other statistical/analytical program I've used. Also good for keeping info confidential
What do you dislike about the product?
The program is incredibly difficult to pick up and be comfortable with.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing statistical analysis of research results

    Mental Health Care

great statistics program

What do you like best about the product?
It is very good at helping you get the answers and data you need.
What do you dislike about the product?
The design is very ugly and hard to navigate .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work in a research lab and we use SPSS to analyze our data constantly. It is the best program we can available to use and I would recommend it to anyone.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a program to analzye data, this is the one for you. If you need a program to present data nicely, then I would stick with Excel. The graphs and tables from SPSS are horrible and ugly. That being said, it is very easy to create graphs elsewhere.

Still *the* standard for statistical software for non-programmers after all these years

  • June 15, 2018

What do you like best about the product?
SPSS was one of the first programs I learned to execute statistics on (after I learned to do the stats by hand). Over the years it keeps improving, it has an incredibly friendly GUI and underneath that a language for creating (and replicating) syntax to get the full capabilities of the program and to assist with documentation and replication.
What do you dislike about the product?
SPSS can be incredibly expensive. Depending on your needs, you may need to invest in several modules. More problematic to me is that what used to be the standard offer has (following the airline model) been "unbundled" and made to cost more now, to get what I consider basic functionality. I also think some of the tools to help marketers make decisions, which has a strength of of not requiring knowledge of statistics also has a weakness of putting powerful tools in the hands of people who don't fully understand them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
If you need to run statistical analyses, this software will get you there. It is average or below for visualization, but can run most types of parametric and non-parametric statistics a business person would need.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would strongly recommend considering SPSS, SAS and R installations for anyone thinking of implementing inhouse statistical software. Each of these has different strengths and weaknesses, which I will not go through in depth. I will say at the highest level, SPSS is what I would install for a shop with people who have average to below average statistical skills, SAS stands out for high powered installations, and R requires the most programming know-how, but is open-source with a thriving community and the capability of handling just about any analytic problem you can imagine.
