Great Quick Tool for Research Papers!
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to copy/paste data.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the non-intuitive function names
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping us to maintain consistent formatting within the papers we are working to publish. It's also making it easier to teach new workers how to use the software since we are sticking to just one now.
SPSS- a researcher’s friend in data analysis time :)
What do you like best about the product?
easy to comprehend and use. The variety of analysis is the best part to play with the data and get excellent analysis and evaluate your results based on it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dont dislike anything - if some more help with algo making part for creating new tools for analysis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Every business problem of this century-
I
I
I have used SPSS intensively during the past three decades in analysing crossional & tme series
What do you like best about the product?
It is really good for decripitive statistics and cross tabulation in particualr for cross sectional data and KAP surveys
What do you dislike about the product?
Do modeling with SPSS is not very convincing to me
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many from Rapid survey analysis through household surveys and KAP to regression modeling
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think they need to improve interfacing with sister software and introduce narrating and graphing the reports. Also, should be be internet driven software where practitioners get direct support from headquarter during using the SPSS. For example, SPSS could successfully enter the business of On Line data collection, processing, analysis and reporting, specially for non parametric analysis and GIS
Easy to analyze and manipulate data
What do you like best about the product?
It is an incredibly useful tool for analyzing statistical data, spss makes it easy to report out findings.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be difficult to adapt a dataset into spss in the correct format so it creates extra work
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to identify trends in our data and then export in a way that it can be used for drawing conclusions
Effective (only if utilized mistake free)
What do you like best about the product?
IBM's SPSS Statistics allows users to effectively and rather efficiently analyze data and create advanced computations. The software is relatively user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
This software has the tendency to crash frequently, meaning if data is not saved it is lost. The problem I have with this software is the fact that computations are not correct if you do not complete them in the exact way the program dictates. Additionally, SPSS is a more outdated form of Excel and needs to be revamped to keep up with its competitors aesthetically.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I utilize SPSS to analyze data gathered in Psychological research. The software allows me to compute correlations, BG/WG INOVAs, t-tests, and chi-squares with ease. The addition of having the option to create graphs within the product is beneficial as well.
Good for Basic Statistical Analysis
What do you like best about the product?
I like the product features of the software in which analysis tools are learned easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not good for advanced statistical analysis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Research studies and the benefits are the output is easily understandable.
SPSS is there for you when others aren't
What do you like best about the product?
The data visualization tools within SPSS are amazing, and overall have blown me away when I have needed to use SPSS. When instructing someone to do a task, it seems easier for me to teach someone how to do a task using SPSS than another data analysis tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
The windowed design of SPSS does not fit my workflow well, and given the option, I would make the entire program fit in a single window. Given that this is my largest complaint, SPSS is overall astounding.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've used SPSS for visualizing data patterns and summarizing datasets.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Understand the windowed format of the program. If you do, your workflow when using SPSS will improve dramatically.
Great for true statisticians
What do you like best about the product?
Fairly easy to use if you understand statistics. Has dropdown menus but can also actually program the syntax directly
What do you dislike about the product?
The output files are not designed for immediate distribution. Often have to copy and paste into Excel or Word to make them user friendly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Running statistical analysis on a variety of data sources at a University.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Need to understand the theory of statistics to get the most out of it.
More user friendly than other statistical software
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS allows users to utilize complex statistical methods in a simplified and user friendly interface. It combines both text and graphics in a style that is synonymous with IBM. There are multiple sources to gaining insight into operations that a new user or a seasoned one can access in order to fully use SPSS to its capacity.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downfall of SPSS is the amount of space that it takes to run on a hard drive. It can lead to slow start up times and heavy updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use SPSS to run complex algorithms in social science research. One of the benefits is that it is such a widely known system that it lends validity to my results.
Great for higher education
What do you like best about the product?
I like that the interface is so intuitive. Unlike R or STATA (also great programs) it is not necessary to understand coding in order to use SPSS. This makes SPSS a great teaching tool for students who are just learning statistics.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that SPSS is not ideal for all analyses. As far as my experience goes, I have not been able to use SPSS for more complex analyses such as statistical equation modeling or for analyzing large datasets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use SPSS as a grad student/teaching assistant in social sciences. SPSS is the best software for students because it is so easy to use. Even students who have not yet fully grasped core statistical concepts can navigate the program and effectively conduct analyses. SPSS has proven to be the ideal statistical software for classroom settings. In my research experience, SPSS has allowed me to conduct analyses without learning coding necessary for other programs such as R and STATA.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend SPSS as a teaching tool and for more simplistic analyses.
