Perfect for people who are not programmers
What do you like best about the product?
It has a good GUI interface which makes it easy to do statistics with programming. The options are very clear and grouped well. It is very easy to create graphs from the data. Also, you have the freedom to write up short scripts for analysing some data.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes up a lot of space and consumes a lot of memory. The patches aren't always stable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is easy to analyse large and small data sets obtained from research studies. It is convenient.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are using version 24, don't install the two patches.
Great statistical software
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to use the pull down menus, use syntax, and/or a combination of both. It is generally user friendly with a clean layout.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not yet able to easily handle much more complicated and sophisticated analysis without some additional proxy code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to analyze our data efficiently and effectively. It is also a great platform to clean, organize, and visual data before analyzing it in other software.
Best Statstics Software Outthere
What do you like best about the product?
All of the advanced features that are available within the software, makes the most complex statistics solvable in minutes
What do you dislike about the product?
The missing feature of data collection program
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Complex data interpretation
SPSS is a user-friendly data analytics software
What do you like best about the product?
I like that SPSS is user-friendly, you can show other users how to do basic data management and analysis using the dropdowns or with code. I find that users more easily understand SPSS than SAS at first.
What do you dislike about the product?
SPSS isn't as powerful as SAS for data management from my experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM SPSS Statistics is a great tool for users to be able to conduct basic statistical analyses without knowing significant amounts of programming/coding language like SAS. I find it aligns more with SAS enterprise guide because users can 'point-and-click' to conduct different tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a user-friendly data management and analyses tool, SPSS is one to consider. It allows users to utilize drop-down menus and produce reports/graphics with their data. SPSS allows the user to see their data and make corrections to it within the software. It is more user-friendly, but less powerful than SAS. If your employees are looking for something they can begin using right away without a significant amount of training, this is a great tool. The reports it produces are also more appealing than other data software currently available.

What do you like best about the product?
It’s pretty straightforward if you know what kind of test you want to run and if you are familiar with statistically language
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be hard to navigate if you’re not experienced in statistics
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is very beneficial in analyzing data
SPSS does its job
What do you like best about the product?
Very low barrier to entry -- with SPSS I'm able to start analyzing my data right away
What do you dislike about the product?
Often when I have large datasets, SPSS crashes without saving my syntax files.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SPSS is great for data analysis
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If your datasets are small, SPSS is great, but with large datasets, mine tends to crash. Much cheaper than Stata though!
Academic Researcher using SPSS
What do you like best about the product?
I like that SPSS is very user-friendly. I especially like that it has the option to "paste" syntax after using a point and click window so you can replicate the point and click option easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike SPSS's limited ability to structure the data in different ways. It would be nice to be able to have matrices of data within the rows and columns in SPSS's template. Additionally, it would be better if SPSS had more capacity for for- and if- loops than it currently does.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I do not use SPSS for business problems so I have not realized any benefits specifically related to business.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would use other statistical programs first -- people tend to be moving away from SPSS as a platform and toward STATA or R or Python.
Amazing computing power
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS is used by most biostatisticians to handle large datasets and produce statistical analyses of dat for healthcare studies
What do you dislike about the product?
Requires a decent amount of training to be able to use all capabilities
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data analysis, data processing, database generation
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It’s better than SAS and more user friendly
Great product
What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy the point and click system of analytics. It also allows me to recode when necessary.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are many limitations to the product, which include the graphing and depth of the statistics used.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We work strictly with university enrollment data to build predictive models for enrolling and retaining students. This software helps us do this portion of our job.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Better support via online portal and chat procedures.
Overall a really solid statistics package
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS has an easy point-and-click interface, making data analysis relatively straightforward. Another benefit is the huge community. If you ever have a problem, there are tons of resources available. SPSS doesn't require a ton of coding experience, like some other options such as R.
What do you dislike about the product?
SPSS doesn't have a ton of detailed description for all of the functions it offers. It can be easy to run a test that isn't the best option for your data source. There are, however, vast outside sources online that can be a huge help. Also, SPSS isn't quite as versatile as an open-source option like R.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work in a research-related field and we use SPSS to ensure that we are only reporting statistically significant figures.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the time to do solid up-front training. It will be much easier than trying to go back and retroactively learn as you go. Also, as with any statistical software, a mathematical understanding of statistics is key to really making the best of the product.
