User Friendly Statistical Analysis Software

  • August 28, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
After learning SAS, STATA, and R, SPSS was a dream come true. User friendly functionality makes this data analysis program easy to use and easy to use. From descriptive statistics, complex surveys, and to regressions, SPSS can do it all.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is more difficult to use when one has a large data set.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A quick learn for new employees who are not trained in data analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Think about cost and functionality. SPSS can do as much as SAS or STATA.

What do you dislike about the product?
my one main complaint is most of the output functions are in percentages verses actual numbers..... now its not that big of deal (there is another function that you can utilize which will give you numbers over percentages, but that extra step can be frustrating when you cant to be done)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
various uses but largely used to input more advance statistical analysis in descriptive statistics and also in linear regression.
basically any way i can as a TA.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
do it. it is something that once you are taught; is so much easier than other programs available to you.

SPSS is as close as you can get to ideal

What do you like best about the product?
It has the ability to do so many different types of computations. The step by step process to each one is largely very simple to understand, so if you are trying to achieve something specific, you can usually figure out how to create it. I particularly like its ability to create both hierarchical and K-Means clusters with ease and the ability to do all of the different types of regressions. I also like how easy it is to re-code variables into the same or different variables for analysis.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest issue is its output, which leaves something to be desired visually. It would also be great to export frequencies and crosstabs as whole numbers instead of just percentages. But other than that, it's amazing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used SPSS largely to run more advance statistical analysis, including correlations, regressions, factor analysis, cluster analysis and GLM. Since I'm in market research, we haven't gotten a lot more technical than this, but it definitely meets our needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really understand what you are needing out of it. Ultimately, it can handle a lot, but in my case it's ok to only have one user license because everyone in the company can use the same one as long as it's done one at a time. But take the time to know what it can do and don't be afraid to experiment - it's pretty robust!

IBM SPSS - great for student education

  • August 07, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and comprehensive. It can ben used from beginners to experts.
What do you dislike about the product?
Frequent updates requiring recertification.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM SPSS for any quantitative data-based result analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It certainly is an easy to use statistical analysis software. If you are working on a large data base, this software may not be suitable to use. Additionally, if you like coding, this software takes away all that feature. Mostly ran by simple series of clicks. I use SPSS mainly to train my students to run a basic data analysis, and it works perfectly to serve this role.
