The Best Way to Analyze Data
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciated how easy it is to input information from collected data into this software. Though usually a complicated process, IBM SPSS allows the researcher to chose from a multitude of statistical analysis in order to discover the significance of collected data. This software package also has every means of statistical analysis imaginable, for any type of data assessment.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much I can honestly say I dislike about this software. Though all of the options might seem overwhelming at first to the novice statistical analyzer, one will quickly become comfortable with using this software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am able to quickly and efficiently assess the data I have collected for an experiment and discover if my results have led to significant or not. This software is also an effective way to teach students in the field of psychology, who are interested in research, a number of different ways in which data can be assessed depending on the type of research design that is used.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think all new users should take the time to "play around" with the different types of statistical analyses that can be used. Although it may seem overwhelming at first, once the user practices for a little bit, they will soon realize they have everything they could have possibly imagined in regard to ways to analyze collected data.
Excellent for beginner level users
What do you like best about the product?
The sorting and isolating variables is very intuitive and easy to teach the students in our lab who have never used statistical software before.
What do you dislike about the product?
It lacks many regression analysis techniques which I had to use Microsoft Excel for. It can also be slow at times if you are not using the latest software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are analyzing our datasets from our completed studies and using these analyses to improve our new study. It has benefited us because it is has useful built-in functionalities for managing and visualizing data.
Great statistical package
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use, simple interface, like to menu bar.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing is way too high. Would prefer if it was less expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it for statistical analysis in research, I will not be able to comment about business problems.
Statistics made easy
What do you like best about the product?
I think the program is very intuitive and easy to use. You don't need to know programming to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some aspects of the drop down menu are awkwardly placed. I think that non-parametric test of variance should be included in test of variance as a separate drop down menu instead of it's own standing section.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Consumer science statistics, it helps determine relationships between variables
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very user friendly, use over other Statistics programs
Simple and user friendly
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you do not need to code your analyses. The data set chart and GUI are fairly simple to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Outside of running an analysis other technical changes like making or merging columns do require studying information to do them correctly. I usually just open up my originally excel file, make necessary changes (e.g. add a column, code a column, etc.) then open again in SPSS
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Research - If you have a well thought out question and understand your analysis actually running it in SPSS is the easy part
Non-intuitive user interface
What do you like best about the product?
Spss is a very versatile data analysis program
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface for data input and statistical analysis is not intuitive and is difficult for first-time users to manage.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used spss to perform ANOVA and other statistical modeling.
Academic quantitative research
What do you like best about the product?
The best statistical tool. Professional statistical package. User friendly. Easy to edit. Import and export data in a wide variety of data formats. Intuitive design.
What do you dislike about the product?
You need to add/purchase separately Structural Equation Modelling. Great for various forms of regression analysis, but a bit difficult to run diagnostics on more advanced procedures.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great tool to help you analyse and visualize data. The best tool to interpret data and help you conduct quantitative data analysis for academic and industry projects.
SPSS wonderful statistical analyses tool
What do you like best about the product?
Excellent customer service / helpful for troubleshooting.
What do you dislike about the product?
Navigation to specific statistical analyses is not always intuitive (e.g., chi square).
Would be nice if could export output more seamlessly and if had better tools to construct clearer and more dynamic visual data representations (e.g., charts, graphs)
Would be nice if could export output more seamlessly and if had better tools to construct clearer and more dynamic visual data representations (e.g., charts, graphs)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Completing analyses on large datasets upwards of 900 cases and 1000 variables longitudinally, working with neural, behavioral, and self-report data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
run statistical analyses in SPSS and then use excel or R to compile visual data.
Perfect tool for statistics
What do you like best about the product?
It is very useful and can help me process data effectively. Additionally, it is one of the best tools that can be learned in a very short time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Everything is great. If I have to find one disadvantage is that it is a large package that is hard to open and have to wait.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to analyze my collected data. Most of it is used for my reseasrch pupose.
SPSS User
What do you like best about the product?
I like how I can easily use syntax to clean data. The features that all you to rename and recode variables are excellent! It goes quickly and it's easy to see what I've already done in case I need to go back and make changes.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that there are some functions that SAS has that SPSS doesn't have. For example, SPSS does not allow you predict points on the regression line. I had to use SAS to perform this function.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
N/A I use this for research.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
SPSS is great for cleaning and organizing dad, but it seems like SAS and other platforms are better for analysis.
