What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mkt research
Great software
What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to run a lot of different calculations.
What do you dislike about the product?
The software is too heavy, so it slows most computers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are finding out which costumer segments are more profitable for a company.
Great analysis tool, once you get over the learning curve
What do you like best about the product?
It's proven itself to be a very effective analytical tool, once you get over the learning curve.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve is steep. The UI isn't great, and the UX leaves a lot to be desired. SPSS is a memory hog, and it doesn't do well with large data sets with multiple values.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We mainly used it for trend and statistical analysis. In terms of benefits realized, it's much cheaper to use than SQL or any Oracle-based system.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Learning to code in SPSS without input from the program is a bit of a learning curve. And although it may look attractive from a price point, you do get what you pay for. Be prepared to do some DIY online sleuthing if you run into any issues.
SPSS Okay, but Not Great
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to use - very much point and click
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a lot of room for error. Click the wrong statistical test or select the wrong model and you may be setting yourself up for very incorrect results.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used it in the past to analyze research data, but recently have not used it. It is primarily what is used by medical students and residents when they are trying to do the statistics themselves for a research project.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is definitely easy to use, but you really need to know the background of the statistical analyses you would like to do an what is appropriate before starting in with SPSS.
Easy use
What do you like best about the product?
When I first started data analytics, SPSS was the far easiest software to use! I still use it along with others.
What do you dislike about the product?
It may not be as efficient to work with data wig a large sample size like above million ns.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it mainly for cleaning up data, checking numbers, and whenever I want to do a quick analysis.
User friendly
What do you like best about the product?
It's fairly intuitive to find what I need
What do you dislike about the product?
The Help process- on those times when I couldn't find it, the help process was pretty useless
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I run statistical modeling and data analytics for my research
IBM SPSS
What do you like best about the product?
The best part about using IBM SPSS is that it is very much user-friendly and easy to learn for a beginner. It makes the data analysis a very easy and an enjoyable task in the research process.
What do you dislike about the product?
The aspect that I dislike about IBM SPSS is that it is very monochromic to look at which creates boredom and monotony after working on it for a long time as data analysis can get tedious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
it is quicker to perform data analysis on a large dataset
Powerful and Flexible Analytic Tool
What do you like best about the product?
The point and click user interface, with the ability to customize analyses/processes through syntax editing capabilities. The software is fairly easy to learn and very intuitive to use once it's been practiced a bit. I appreciate the ability to directly manipulate data in a spreadsheet in certain situations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Complex analyses are considerably slower than other, non GUI based programs (e.g., R). However, for small-moderate data sets, the user interface convenience outweighs any computational time concerns. Also, the data visualization/graphing tools are non-intuitive and somewhat difficult to manipulate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use IBM SPSS Statistics in a research context, but often find myself using it for tracking recruitment and retention concerns due its ability to quickly explore subsamples (e.g., the Crosstab function). For instance, we regularly have to report on how many individuals contact us by race, location, age, and other demographics. On some occasions, we use our data sets to explore what types of individuals are most likely to continue to work with us and adjust our advertising strategies accordingly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great for fairly standard analyses and some advanced processes, easy to learn and use but please pay attention to the analyses you're running! The user interface makes it easy to "point and click" even when you may not know exactly what you're clicking on!
SPSS review
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to user interface. Trouble shooting is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is sometimes difficult to find some of the lesser known functions
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's easier to use than free options.
The best stats package to get up and running
What do you like best about the product?
Very user friendly, and provides useful feedback on what your numbers mean, what types of tests you should run, and how to best interpret your data.
What do you dislike about the product?
The adjustments that can be made to graphs are sometimes limited. Furthermore, the user interface in adjusting graphs in order to get them to presentable quality is also challenging.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Research problems and assessing the reliability of our research findings
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very easy to get up and running with it
