great software, multitasking
What do you like best about the product?
it is user friendly. You can use it for several application in the research field. Help to categorize, sort and split samples.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the beginning it is hard to understand how to set the table to make everything work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
i am doing research in cancer, not apply it on business. It is the best software to do statistic and get a good publication of your data
SPSS IS GREAT FOR RESEARCH
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS is great for data input. Not everyone is fluent in statistical research and SPSS is great for qualitative and quantitative research. Even if you are not familiar with the database, IMB provides an extensive manual to help with the software which makes usage great!
What do you dislike about the product?
So far, there is nothing I dislike about SPSS other than it can take a while to download. However, I believe they have worked a fix for that becuase the last update did not take as long to download.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SPSS is great for ANOVA, MANOVA, multiple regression, linear regression, descriptive statistics and so much more. Ones you have your data aligned SPSS makes it easy to compare groups, variables, etc. Currently, I am using the software in my own research.

Wish tables options were better and z testing was clearer

It runs pretty quickly and I like how I can use an excel sheet for entering in data.

It is not designed intuitively, and the layout can be modernized a bit.

Clunky at times. Nothing else to say about it.

Definitely is a solution over standard excel work products.

Easy to convert and import files. Quick easy to read output.

Can use wrong tests for data, would like to see a feature like some other programs that tell you the test is inappropriate for your data

Comparing trends, can see if programming is working
When you finally understand you will be amazed

The large scale of operations the program is able to do and process within seconds. It is not easy to get into it, but when you learn how to do operations you need it's very quick and reliable
What do you dislike about the product?
The effort you have to put in working with the programme outside of it. Reading books how to manage every operation, shortcuts are not easily comprehensible, design is a bit odd and old fashoned. Also the number of windows that pop up every time you request operation to process.
I would appreciate to create at least design o the programme that would be more interactive and helpful in finding out what you really want to do, or an online support, and no need to download or upgrade the programme once in a while...

It has a hugey potential and role for academic and research works in any field. Finds relations, corelations and more between things you never realized could be. You can easily process any given information together that are hardly related. It gives a special value to questionnare answers.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Read carefully instruction books, be patient and double check - results will show up and amaze u.

The software is not very intuitive. You have to learn how to codify your variables, which tests you want to run, etc.

We used this for statistical research projects in a statistics class.
SPSS is powerful and user-friendly
What do you like best about the product?
The best feature of SPSS is the translational nature of the GUI (graphical user interface) to the more abstract syntax. Also the fact that statistical powerhouses like Andrew Hayes have made syntax/macro applications available to all.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I wish that it were easier to see multiple windows organized cleanly at once; for example, I would like to be able to press "paste" in the GUI and see the pasted syntax easily while still using the GUI.

I use SPSS to analyze complex data for grant-funded projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Taking a statistics course that uses IBM SPSS Statistics is a good way to improve your knowledge about the program. Also, I have found the Laerd Statistics online resources to be useful. The best way to get better using SPSS is to practice.
Good software for doing descriptive statistics
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use for small data sets that can be uploaded - great graphics and easy to use
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not have the flexibility like SAS for data manipulation and large databases.

I have used it as a stand alone product, not used for complex databases. Easy to do descriptive analysis and great graphical package
