Great software
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to make the analysis and interpretations..
What do you dislike about the product?
User interface is confusing and hard to use
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Statistics in reasearch is a piece of cake with this software
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good software but need some time to get use to it
Unbeatable standard for statistical analysis
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use; availability of tutorials; it's pretty much the standard for quantitative research.
What do you dislike about the product?
I can't think of any thing I don't like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a researcher, this program is invaluable to the work I do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do it.
SPSS, a statistical lifesaver
What do you like best about the product?
Although SPSS requires time to learn, once you do learn it, the program is an absolute lifesaver. I never could have imagined hand coding and running all that SPSS can do. And, the outputs are very easy to understand and read.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does require someone to teach you the program. I learned SPSS several years ago, however, and still can navigate the program just fine. Only minor updates in the last several years.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SPSS makes running data so much faster. Each research study that I do is more efficient because of SPSS.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to find someone that is a pro at using SPSS, so that they can teach you how to use it!
We all have to use it, right?
What do you like best about the product?
SPSS is very easy to use and covers all your basic statistics needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well, throughout the years, there was little to no improvement in SPSS functions. Moreover, it is an expensive software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am in academia, so SPSS is great for teaching students how to do software-assisted research. But actual research requires a platform that has more functionality.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Graduate to a better platform
Analysis and research classes
What do you like best about the product?
They added new tools to help in dummy codes, this. Add it easier than doing it manually
What do you dislike about the product?
The graphics and tables are not APA style so you can't just copy them
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data analysis for research projects
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It needs some extensive training to understand all its abilities
Great for specific statistical analysis but not user friendly
What do you like best about the product?
Has more options for statical analysis of my data.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very difficult to navigate. Prism is much easier to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I needed to analyze research data with a specifically statistical test that SPSS provided.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For more experienced users
SPSS=Great Analytics tool!
What do you like best about the product?
it is comprehensive in that it offers a way to analyze data no matter the inferential or descriptive test I need to run
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like more embedded HELP with step by step instructions. I do not run but a few analytics routinely. When I have to delve into a new area, I have to stop and look up the how and where to run the test in SPSS.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use SPSS to analyze research data for educational studies and for determining the influences or potential relationship of factors on different problems that we are addressing. It provides a robust method of getting sophisticated answers without too much help.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
IBM SPSS is the software to use for novice or experienced researchers. It "grows with you," and allows completion of small projects as well as large initiatives. It can create sophisticated output that can be inserted or transformed to publications or presentation software. It also has accessible online support and reference materials for specialty projects or quick HOW TO information. I recommend it to novice researchers in graduate school or colleagues working on their doctorates. I also recommend it to experienced researchers--however, those recommendations are usually moot b/c most of my colleagues already USE SPSS. It is the number 1 "GO TO" in analytics for me.
A good tool for statistical analysis
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of creating surveys and publishing them.Drop down menu GUI is fairly easy to understand and use for a new user too, These features create a good experience
What do you dislike about the product?
Will help a lot if the coding perspective was straightforward to use and more quickly accessible. But it needs an update and GUI change. The others are catching too fast
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collecting data for research and universities
IBM SPSS
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to merge large files. Useful also as a learning tool. Good for data manipulations. You can generate graphs and multiple tables in order to create more understandable information. Able to perform both basic and advanced statistical tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface is very basic and easy to navigate, but it could be updated to have a more modern feel. It could be more intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've used SPSS to sort through some large data sets collected over multiple years, to try to analyze trends in the area of use of public space.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Recommended for groups attempting to analyze large and complex data sets.
Using SPSS Statistics
What do you like best about the product?
Decent data analysis package, pretty user friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is sometimes hard to interpret results. Also, modifying and pulling the generated graphics from the results is a bit hard and sometimes frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly research question. Trying to decide if various experimental results are statistically significant. This program is a relatively quick way to crunch a bunch of data and see if the results that were found in an experiment are going to be usable at all. It is also an easy package to teach beginner analysts off of.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a good product for conducting basic statistical analyses.
