Good tool for analyzing comparing multiple parameters

  • December 21, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The many options for analysis with in between and between studies. In addition it is easy to isolate one parameter and compare it again others.
What do you dislike about the product?
I like the product. The only problem is that sometimes SPSS slows down.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Trying to understand behavioral models and trends that develop from therapeutics.

Easy to learn and use

  • December 19, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are options for syntax writing and point and click so even the most intro person can use it and learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish syntax across programs was the same so that it was easier to know all the formulas
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us analyze large datasets.

Excellent and fast way to get up and running with advanced statistics

  • December 19, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to get up and running quickly and to make sense of large datasets with SPSS.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see more advanced modeling features in the basic version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have conducted research with SPSS to find unrealized relationships in large datasets.

IBM SPSS

  • December 17, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used IBM SPSS Statistics program since graduate school. Once you get familiar with it, it is relatively simple to run most analyses. The new update threw me a bit for a loop, but I'm getting in the groove with it now.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't love the interface. It's a bit wonky until you get used to where everything is located. I wish you could also pull variable titles in from Excel, but I haven't found a way to do that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am an academic researcher. I use IBM on a regular basis to complete my research. I don't know what I'd do without it!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it some time. It takes some getting use to!

Great software for analysis

  • December 16, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use for basic and advanced analysis. Because it is one of the industry standard software packages in analysis, it is easy to share models and properly cleaned/formatted data.
What do you dislike about the product?
It costs too much money for a statistical suite that has free and open source alternatives. It's not incredible expensive, but it offers no advantages over some packages that are free and open source.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used SPSS to develop projections for service need and potential delivery, and to create models regarding program application with changes in client populations. The ease of use was fantastic, and it was able to work with imperfect data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look into more affordable options if that's an issue at your organization. SPSS is a great piece of software, but if you're in the nonprofit industry, for example, it doesn't offer any benefits compared to FOSS alternatives.

SPSS is good for the basics and for beginners

  • December 15, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
SPSS is a good basic statistical software for all of your basic analytical needs. The point-and-click usability and menus are nice when you exploring what to do with your data, and the data editor is a nice feature to have to look over and through your data and variables quickly. The data editor is one of my favorite features of SPSS. The layout (syntax, output, data editor) is also user-friendly and straightforward. It's good for people just stepping into statistical software and for when you need to go back and forth among them or between SPSS and other programs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I was trained in STATA, SAS, and Mplus and am used to writing in syntax, which is oftentimes faster if you know what you're doing. SPSS's syntax is not, in my opinion, very user-friendly or easy to manipulate. There are a lot of options and specifications that need to be made underneath the main commands, but I find them hard to remember and a bit complex. Therefore, typing out my desired code is not very feasible, so I have to rely on the point-and-click menus. For running a high volume of short analyses quickly, this becomes a little frustrating. Also, if you are running complex, multilevel models, for example, SPSS is not powerful enough to do that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My work is in behavioral health research. SPSS is one of the standard tools for those in psychology, so it's been easy to share my work with colleagues using SPSS.

IBM SPSS Statistics

  • December 13, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
IBM SPSS Statistics is a very robust and user friendly statistics package. SPSS not only gives you the ability to "automate" analysis through syntax scripting, but it also offers a very easy to use "point and click" analysis interface. SPSS is suitable for people at all levels of use (from students to professionals).
What do you dislike about the product?
I really do not have any dislikes. I have been using SPSS for over 10 years and it has always met my needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IBM SPSS Statistics allows us to analyze our data at so many levels. We can quickly do descriptive statistics and also have the ability to dive deep into the data with very high level analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly recommend IBM SPSS Statistics to anyone who is looking for a statistics software. With over 10 years of experience with the software I haven't been happier with a program I use most days.

Powerful industry stats package

  • November 28, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are many powerful statistical tools that are available within this one package. Each has a plethora of options.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although I find it to be one of the most user-friendly stats packages, that's not saying much. Because of the many data parameters that must be specified, and the vast number of options, it is still easy to get confused. Thankfully, SPSS is so popular, there are many tutorials online.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I perform statistical analysis of my experiment results using SPSS and it has allowed me to visualize my data, analyze my data, and also share my data sets with other SPSS users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There is a trial version available, so try that if you are at all interested. There are also Python programming tools to help automate the gathering of data for analysis.

Great Statistics Tool

  • November 24, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can do everything with SPSS and there are almost no limits. You can work with huge data files ect.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you have Simple Tasks I still prefer the easiness of excel over SPSS. Because the GUI of SPSS is not perfect so for normal day to day routine I stick to that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
From basic statistics like histograms to huge chunks of data analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Only buy it if you really use a lot of statistic and more complicated statistics. For you day to day work other software works as well.

Powerful statistical software - not for the faint hearted

  • September 06, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can do a lot in it - and it has support for R and Python so really you can do everything in it. Extremely flexible software. An excellent statistical software package, but really needs some statistical background.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not particularly well suited to market research data. You can run all sorts of statistical analyses easily in SPSS, but producing a simple report of cross-tabulations for all your data is time consuming because SPSS doesn't easily allow you to apply different filters to different questions. Great statistical tool but poor for viewing and analysing market research data at an overall level. Also, while SPSS has python and R support, it's not easy to work out how to actually get these features to work. Very poor customer service - if you have a question about using the software you're much much better off looking on online forums than trying to contact SPSS directly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Market research applications - typical uses are for factor analysis, regression analysis, CHAID/CRT/QUEST analysis, ANOVA/MANOVA
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Requires quite a bit of learning to become familiar with the software, and is something you ideally need to use with some frequency to get the most out of it. However, many of the statistical functions have simple menus you can use to get to what you want. Ideally though you need to know at least a little bit about scripting. Only for those who have had some stats training.
