What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Before Finout, understanding where our cloud spend was going meant pulling billing exports from several providers and reconciling them by hand, and it was hard to tie costs back to specific teams or products.

What do you like best about the product?

I like the combination of flexibility and granularity in Finout. It's easy to create dashboards tailored to a team or system while still being able to drill down into the details behind the numbers. The visibility across AWS and Kubernetes costs makes it much easier to identify the biggest cost drivers and turn raw billing data into something engineers and managers can actually use.

What do you dislike about the product?

For API-based integration, rate limits and occasional slow or inconsistent query performance can be frustrating when many dashboards or queries run at once. Also, I would like to see better tools for budgeting and tracking spend. The Financial Planner could be improved with more automated features, like creating and maintaining monthly budgets and forecasts, first-class budgets with approval statuses, versioned forecasts, better budget vs actual reporting with variance explanation, an API for budgets, threshold alerts, and enhanced forecasting tools.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use Finout to get visibility into cloud and infrastructure costs. It allocates spending by team, system, or service, building cost dashboards, and tracking trends. This helps us understand spending and connect it to business activities, solving the problem of unknown infrastructure spend.

What do you like best about the product?

• MegaBill Consolidation: It aggregates billing data from multiple cloud providers (such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud), Kubernetes, and third-party SaaS and AI vendors (Snowflake, Datadog, OpenAI, and Anthropic) into a single, centralized cost-observability layer.
• Virtual Tagging: It decouples cost allocation from messy or incomplete infrastructure tags. Using rules based on resource names, namespaces, and metadata, it retroactively allocates 100% of cloud and shared costs to specific teams, features, or customers without forcing engineers to spend time fixing tags manually.
• Agentless and Low-Touch Setup: It connects safely via standard read-only IAM roles and provider APIs rather than running invasive proprietary software agents on your nodes or servers.

What do you dislike about the product?

• Focuses on Reporting, Not Automated Fixing: Finout is primarily an observability and allocation platform. It tells you where your money is going and highlights waste, but it doesn't automatically execute resource optimization. If you want a tool that autonomously resizes Kubernetes nodes, schedules environment shutdowns, or actively buys/sells RI commitments, specialized automation tools like CAST AI or ProsperOps are a better fit.
• Steep Learning Curve and Initial Complexity: Reviewers on G2 note that mastering the platform takes time. While the agentless ingestion is quick, constructing the logical rule-sets for Virtual Tagging across massive, messy data streams requires a solid grasp of your infrastructure metadata to get accurate results.
• Performance Lag on Large Datasets: Users managing highly complex environments have reported slow dashboard and report loading times. Processing billions of granular rows of multi-cloud data alongside Kubernetes telemetry can occasionally impact UI responsiveness.
• Limited Visualization Customization: While its "MegaBill" dashboard provides a unified view, some enterprise users find the native reporting layout a bit rigid. If your finance department requires highly customized visual reports, you may find yourself restricted by the platform's standard formatting.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Lyft integrated Finout to solve a major internal scaling crisis. Around 2020, Lyft built a DIY, custom in-house FinOps ETL pipeline to monitor cloud costs. By 2023, that system had broken down: it was fragile, required a dedicated team of engineers just to answer basic data questions, and couldn't scale with Lyft's massive, complex multi-cloud and Kubernetes footprint. I use Finout to control infrastructure costs. It sends timely alerts on cost abnormalities via Slack, allowing effective monitoring and action. The Slack integration is crucial, and I find Finout stable and reliable.

What do you like best about the product?

I really like Finout for enabling cost visibility and monitoring from all our cloud providers and AI platforms. The Virtual tags are a standout feature, allowing us to create logical tags across different providers without updating tags in the source platform. The MegaBilll view is fantastic for cross-cloud platform cost analysis, and I appreciate how custom dashboards are highly configurable for specific teams or individuals. Managing AI costs is much easier as we use several platforms like Anthropic and OpenAI, and Finout makes it simple to see costs per team or employee with virtual tags. The customer support is great—very responsive and always quick to assist. I also really like Billy, Finout's AI bot, for its ease in querying information, and I use it frequently. The initial setup was mostly smooth, and any issues were efficiently resolved with the help from Finout's support team.

Overall, we're very happy with Finout. Some of the more advanced features can take a bit of time to learn and configure, but once set up, they work very well

What do you dislike about the product?

I have encountered ongoing authentication issues when trying to use Quick.
In addition, the inability to connect to SCAD has created challenges and prevented us from integrating all the data sources we would like to use. Resolving these connectivity and authentication limitations would significantly improve the overall user experience and unlock even more value from the platform.

Finout helps us solve one of the biggest challenges in cloud cost management: understanding and allocating costs in a way that aligns with our business structure.

The platform allows us to easily create and manage virtual tags, giving us the flexibility to categorize and allocate costs beyond the limitations of native cloud tagging. This makes it much easier to analyze spending from different business perspectives.

A key benefit is the visibility it provides at the product/ customer/department level. Instead of looking at raw infrastructure costs, we can view expenses in a way that reflects how our organization operates. This business-oriented approach helps stakeholders better understand where resources are being consumed and make more informed decisions.

Overall, Finout translates complex cloud cost data into a common business language, making cost ownership, reporting, and decision-making significantly more efficient and actionable.

What do you like best about the product?

FinOut's interface is very intuitive. Within a few minutes of using the tool you will probably grasp a good understanding of how to use most of its features. It does the basics well: tagging, unit economic, cost visibility, anomaly investigation, financial planning, compliance and cost optimisations opportunities. Their native integrations have improved significantly in the past 12 months. FinOut is responsive, most visuals/reports run quickly. There are definitely some limitations, but the support team is always within reach and happy to help (although sometimes it may take a bit of time). As with many tools, it has an AI companion that helps expediting basic queries and requests. Overall, considering the features and support available, the pricing is reasonable compared to others in the market.

What do you dislike about the product?

While the tool has a lot of features to help FinOps practitioners do their jobs, I do wish the tool had a more holistic approach, where different features will work in unison (i.e: cost anomalies reflecting as variances in the financial plans, or megabill annotations being assigned to the right dimensions/taggs, etc). There is also still a big dependency on support team to enable custom telemetry, which not only adds to the time it takes to set it up but also delays any tweaks or changes you may need. Virtual tagging does struggle with multi-dimension relationships, which puts a damp on trustworthiness of the information.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

The main strength is the ability to pair spend with budget and forecast (so Financial Plans). And the unit economic feature, can be very powerful if the relationship is straightforward enough, lowering the implementation times significantly by having all information ready in one platform.

What do you like best about the product?

I like Finout for its dashboard customizations and virtual tags. We can easily customize the dashboard to meet specific customer needs, and the tags allow us to break down our costs in great detail. It was also quite easy to set up initially.

What do you dislike about the product?

I find the K8S visibility and recommendations could be better, as well as the hourly usage tracking.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Finout detects anomalies, keeps up with trends, and finds saving opportunities. It offers extensive cost breakdown with custom dashboards and virtual tags.

What do you like best about the product?

I really appreciate how Finout tracks the cost of different services across multiple cloud providers like AWS and GCP. It gives me a daily cost breakdown, which is super helpful in identifying cost savings I've achieved. The filtering experience is a big plus for me, and I find the new MCP makes it quick to get cost insights and apply filters. The initial setup was also pretty easy, which was a relief.

What do you dislike about the product?

The AI is not trustworthy sometimes. I had to modify my dashboards because the AI made them incorrectly. This is an area that could be worked on to improve the experience.
