Centralized Monitoring with Ease and Depth

  • February 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I probably like the pure performance monitoring the most. It's great to have the ability to drill into long-running queries and the issues you've had. The ability to move back in time and replay what's going on, what was holding up something at any given point, is really useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have a lot of complaints, but the packaging of the suite of tools and the licensing models could potentially be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Redgate Monitor for centralized monitoring, performance tracking, and SQL Data Compare and anonymization. It helps me drill into long-running queries and move back in time to replay issues, enhancing oversight without relying on native tools.

Best-in-Class Help for SQL Server DBA Troubleshooting

  • February 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For a very small shop this is the best product to help the DBA troubleshoot issues. We work with a third party vendor and have been able to use the Redgate product to find issues that we reported back to the vendor. We even did it so often that the vendor changed their product to start using Redgate.
What do you dislike about the product?
We do not use Oracle, Postgres, or other database products, just Microsoft SQL Server which is why we bought the original SQL Monitor.
All the other added database products are just extra weight and the continued notices about other products is annoying.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used Redgate Monitor to track high CPU usage, long running queries, failed SQL Agent jobs. With each alert we have the information to go directly to the source of the issue and quickly resolve it. Many times we have been able to fix problem code before the users are even aware that there was a problem. For small shops with limited staff this was a HUGE benefit. It was also beneficial to our small developer staff when we can point them directly to the code that needs to be changed. The hours saved not having to track down problems and being forewarned about potential problems really justifies the cost which we have been able to prove to management.

Best SQL monitoring tool i've used

  • February 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When monitoring SQL it does a fantastic job of identifying issues in a way that's easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
No DB2 support... i understand it's a niche database engine by today's standards, but a DB2 option would have been awesome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When i started in my position, the team didn't have any visibility into SQL server performance. Apps would run slowly or lock up, and while traditional DB diagnostics scripts can help, it doesn't give you enough to address issues before they happen. RG Monitor gives me both historical metrics, and current statuses to address issues before users complain.

Facilitate Monitoring with Instant Visibility

  • February 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the ease of being able to see the status of the databases at a glance. I also find it excellent to have access to the heaviest queries performed on the databases easily and quickly, without having extensive knowledge in SQL database administration. Additionally, it is valuable to me because it allows me to easily know how our critical business databases are working, without needing to have extensive technical knowledge like DBAs. The configuration of the database monitoring itself was very simple and is very well documented on their platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to have a wallboard within the tool to project the status of the databases in a simple way on the team's monitoring screens. We have indeed had some issues when configuring Windows users for the tool and have missed some documentation in that regard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Redgate Monitor to monitor the status of our database clusters. It provides me with visibility into what is happening inside the databases and helps me anticipate and resolve performance issues easily, without having extensive technical knowledge.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ease of use of Redgate Monitor, and it meets my expectations regarding the main performance issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
It could improve the issue of not asking me for a SQL Server Enterprise database going forward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Redgate Monitor to monitor my SQL Server database, helping to identify performance issues and suggesting solutions such as creating indexes.

Simplified SQL Monitoring with Detailed Insights

  • February 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Redgate Monitor for its simplicity of the user interface and the detailed information it provides. It's great for isolating problematic areas with its easy-to-understand interface. I also appreciate the details around the information it collects, especially for SQL locking and bad SQL statements.
What do you dislike about the product?
The agent seems a little heavy, and I also find the custom reporting capabilities lacking. Additional alerting capabilities would be nice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Redgate Monitor helps isolate problematic queries and SQL Server configurations with an easy-to-understand interface and detailed information on SQL locking and bad SQL statements.

Streamlined Monitoring with Room for Improvement

  • February 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Redgate Monitor for monitoring all our disparate SQL Server environments in one dashboard, which is really convenient. The unified alerts and reporting/auditing capabilities are great for executive reporting for downtime. I think the UI is excellent because you don't need to be a SQL DBA to understand the state of the environment. It also provides drill-down capabilities, which help technical folks research issues without having to connect to SQL. I find the alerting system good, as it has replaced a ton of home-grown SQL alerts, and the custom alerting allows us to move self-developed SQL reporting and alerting to Redgate Monitor, making it easier to liberalize those alerts to other SQL instances.
What do you dislike about the product?
The onboarding of servers could be more verbose with errors. Having to download logs is annoying and cumbersome. It could be easier to display error messages on the configuration page. Working between domains means you have to deploy a base monitor to each domain, which is also cumbersome to manage, especially when upgrading.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Redgate Monitor for consolidating our disparate environments into a single dashboard, offering unified alerts, reporting, and auditing. It enables executive reporting for downtime and has replaced many homegrown SQL alerts, streamlining our operations.

Comprehensive Monitoring with User-Friendly Interface

  • February 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that the interface is easy to use and provides a lot of information about the current state of the SQL Server instance. The graphs are granular, which helps me easily focus on the time frame relevant to customer-reported issues. I also appreciate how it allows me to spot the queries that consume the most processing time over long periods, making it straightforward to prepare tickets for specific improvements for the engineering team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Notifications often feel redundant to be honest. I never used it or thought they were useful. Could be me not knowing how to use them well maybe. I would probably like it to be more customizable in the ways you can receive notifications. Like set up complicated filtering and the notifications working off those. 'if the stored procedure x takes more than y time on database z give me a notification' etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Redgate Monitor to identify bottlenecks in queries, monitor production server instances for performance issues, and spot queries that take most processing time, which helps prepare tickets for improvements.

Solid monitor tool with plenty of options

  • February 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
First the licensing model is excellent. It is more affordable than many of the competitors. We have begun to test the AI features which are showing some promise in helping evaluate queries and troubleshoot issues. The tools to identify problematic queries has helped us track down queries that have been impacting production activities. Using alerts for some administrative activities has allowed us to keep track of bloat related to excessive use of linkedservers. I like the dashboard for quickly finding problems and addressing them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Updates do not allow for using gMSA accounts to start the needed services. I would like if it could allow that from the GUI update tool. In the top queries tool it would be super helpful to be able to add login name and source host to the display. It takes time to correlate the query in the sql server to find further details on the query. Adding granular permissions for users has been a little clunky for us. But in general not too big a problem as we don't do it often.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reliability is the main focus. Additionally we use the top query to troubleshoot and improve performance of tools like Excel that people use to access the databases. Correlating issues that occur, slow downs in IO or other processing. It helps to have the graphs to share with other teams to track down the root cause.

Efficient and Intuitive SQL Monitoring

  • February 04, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the simplicity of Redgate Monitor and its very attractive interface. I find the analysis of queries and execution plans particularly useful, as it allows me to identify performance issues and possible improvements faster than the management studio.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reporting section in Redgate Monitor should be improved. The management of tiles in the reports needs enhancements, and it would be useful if, by leveraging some AI, the program could suggest the most suitable reports based on the workload. Additionally, in on-premise environments, there have been issues with permissions during configuration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Redgate Monitor offers me clear monitoring with query history and allows me to quickly identify performance issues. Compared to the management studio, it explains the queries by highlighting problems and improvements.
