No noise - just actionable data
What do you like best about the product?
What I like the most is that upon installation and configuration, we immediately got actionable data that gave us valuable insight into our SQL estate. This allowed us to immediately resolve issues that hadn't been seen before. We can see our entire estate health in a single pane instead of having to drill down on each machine to find out what is going on. Alerts are meaningful and allow us to make changes at a granular level, not just global settings, but down to the machine or database, which is critical for us so that we're not just getting a lot of meaningless noise. Query plans, execution plans, and deadlock events are rich with detail. Redgate has built a lot of custom metrics, but you can also build your own using SQL statements. Integration with REST and Powershell are also a big plus for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Love the integration with VMWare, which has been really helpful for us. Hope that Redgate will also consider adding integration with Microsoft Stack HCI and AVDs, as we are transitioning many machines to this technology.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is giving us actual, actionable data, based on our company's needs. When we get an alert, we know it is not a false alarm or some vague reference for which there is little to no documentation for us to investigate. We also get real-time resource metrics, SQL metrics (including top queries, waits and sprocs), blocking processes, robust AG metrics, failed jobs, backup history across the estate, and user permissions. All of these data points allow us to immediately and proactively resolve issues which, in turn, allow us to focus effort on other time-sensitive business projects.
DBA Work Buddy
What do you like best about the product?
RedGate Monitor helps a lot in troubleshooting job especially on SQL scripting. The most feature used is deadlock event monitoring. Through RedGate Monitor help, admin can get all the important information through one single webpage.
What do you dislike about the product?
RedGate Monitor lack of customization feature for graph reporting purposes. It also lacks of the user permission features on separating user to allow for viewing different group of servers.

With Redgate Monitor, we are able to analyze the problem with our scripting by configuring various of alert such as deadlock event, blocking and so on.

Simplifies Performance Monitoring with a Few Connectivity Hiccups
What do you like best about the product?
I like the simplicity of Redgate Monitor's GUI. I can just go in, click through, and configure notifications and alerts very simply. Everything is nice and clear in the dashboard when we connect to it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes we get connectivity issues to database servers when using Windows authentication. It sometimes causes problems, like an invalid connection or connection from an invalid domain showing up in the SQL server error logs. Also, I find that it's a little bit performance hungry sometimes, especially since we are monitoring quite a lot of servers now on a slightly underpowered VM.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Redgate Monitor to track database servers, alert on disk space and performance issues, and delve into identifying real performance problems.

Redgate SQL Monitor
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing I like about Redgate Monitor is it's ease of use and the great Technical Support.
What do you dislike about the product?
In the last monitoring software I had, there was a "fix it" button that is not present in Redgate Monitor. I also don't like the update process. I've had to two since I've had the product and not one has gone without problems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I haven't had any problems that Redgate Monitor has help me solve.
Useful Monitoring with Some Shortcomings
What do you like best about the product?
I find Redgate Monitor works pretty well in general, and I think the support is reasonable. The real-time alerting feature is the most useful aspect for me, as it promptly lets me know when issues arise or if there's concerning behavior.
What do you dislike about the product?
Portability of custom metrics does not exist. Sometimes there is not enough control over alerts and how they are triggered. The trigger condition/details are not provided in the notification so I have to run additional queries to actually get the desired information. It took several emails with support to get licensing squared. Unfortunately, this is an ongoing issue and every time Redgate makes changes to licenses, how they are reported or handled, our environment has a tendency to break.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Redgate Monitor helps alert me to issues like AG slowdowns, blocking/deadlocking, and failed tasks. The real-time alerting is especially useful for identifying concerning behavior promptly.
Detailed and useful monitoring system
What do you like best about the product?
The breadth of monitoring stats really helps track down issues and backtrack through events.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes you can get flooded with notifications, and lose information.
