  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau stands out for the ease of use and the vast community, being one of the earliest in the space. The Tableau public is also a great resource for ideas, and help you to level up to Desktop and then Server as needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Overall I have found it to be quite well-rounded, there are though some limitations with GIS data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Building interactive dashboards from multiple source. We've found it to be tremendously useful to give business focused stakeholders easy access where they can get hands on with the data themselves.

Unique visualisations

  • December 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that vizzes can be created with little instruction as Tableau can automatically select required viz. Tableau Desktop also offers the capability to tell a story with your viz or present the viz in such a way selected devices can view it without trouble. Best of all with a little more instruction, one can create very unique vizzes
What do you dislike about the product?
In my use of Tableau Desktop I am yet to find anything I dislike. I can only say a little instruction is needed in using some of the menus
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have been able to use Tableau to give analysis to huge dataset and presenting the information to be visually appealing to the audience.

Exploring data sources with Tableau, a complete solution for Dashboards

  • December 10, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The possibility to use multiple data sources and live data from server in a dashboard. The end result is neat, implementing changes on different sheets is easy and does not require to re-do things on multiple screens. Tableau is very smart in detecting errors.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it complex to use, especially different visualizations are not direct but designed in a complex way after combining different types of visuals. An example is donut chart, it is a very common type of chart but I had to overlay two pie charts to create a donut chart. Data source screen lacks ease of navigating from column to column, as one had to go left or right column by column.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am presenting tracking surveys results to clients, almost live with a daily update. Once designed perfectly, updating the dashboard takes negligible effort and time. The dashboards are extremely safe to use but most of the time, my clients are unable to pay for license and as per my organization's policy, we do not provide any free-ware solutions. Tableau viewer is a great way out for those who want to see the results without paying for license.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do look for tips and tricks out there on sites like YouTube. Tableau is used in such a variety of objectives that you'll find hard to reach to the desired trick, so do a wide range search of solutions.

Useful for creating automated reports for tracking key metrics

  • December 07, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful feature of tableau is report scheduling. We use it to update reports automatically on a daily basis (more than once per day every few hours). This way we are able to monitor our key metrics throughout the day without having too much dependency on analysts or someone from tech crunching up the numbers and devoting hours of their time on a repetitive tasks. This way we are able to save a lot of bandwidth of reporting and present the numbers in a much better way to the stakeholders in place of excel charts. Also, the easy integration with multiple sources helps us collate all our data in combined reports and give a holistic view of the performance of the organisation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau is an expensive tool but if you invest in it and use it to a good extent for reports and business intelligence then it pays for itself considering the costs you're saving from having someone work on the reports full time. Also, the reporting does require knowledge of advanced SQL operations which not everyone can do and hence can create dependency on a technical person but it would not be like this in every case as most of the visualisations can be created by drag and drop by even a non-technical user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use tableau to create reports that refresh automatically. Using these reports we are able to monitor all our customer metrics and we can track and detect issues before things go worse. We check the dashboards daily and use the insights to assist decision making and monitor metrics daily to check the performance of the various business verticals. The best benefit is the easy integration with multiple data sources as all of our data is scattered across multiple tools.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Worth the cost and very useful for helping decision making.
