Steep learning curve

  • October 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I hear the power of the tool is really great and to get started it seemed simple.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve was so steep that I wasn't able to even do things like create "simple" charts that I'm used to in Excel. It was unfortunate because I've heard so many good things from other people about it, but I feel like a course is necessary to get started.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was hoping to solve some problems parsing logs and CSV files, create repeatable charts based on a common format for analysis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have the means to get training and/or can watch videos to get started that's probably your best bet for learning this powerful, but complicated, tool. I unfortunately did not and just wanted to try to get something going quick, but got lost in its steep elarning curve.

Tableau for data analytics

  • October 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am in the intermediate level of learning Tableau and am enjoying figuring out different dashboards and reporting that I can produce with our level of information we use in the healthcare field. I am able to produce geographical reports for our field reps and also basic financial analytics for our operational teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a lot to learn, I do not dislike anything yet but there are a lot of different options to learn and Tableau is a little finnicky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving huge reporting dilemmas that we cannot solve for in Excel because we cannot open the million rows of data. We are able to publish to a centralized website for all of our employees to retrieve reporting for their various roles.

It works well, if you pay...

  • October 07, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use UI. Has a lot of functionality and very intuitive. Deeper you dive into the tool, the more you will be able to do and the better your analysis/viz will be. Just started taking more advantage of parameters combines with action filters for user Tableau interactivity and has opened a lot of doors
What do you dislike about the product?
Cost, seems to run extremely slow if you do not have an upgrade in support/resources. Somewhat trapped into upgrading
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data Analysis and insights for Customers.

Very easy to use Tableau Desktop

  • October 04, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau Desktop is smooth to work and has eased my organization to become more data-driven. It helps us in the complete analytics journey right from data preparation to analysis to intelligent insights that help us in making data-driven decisions. It is very easy to understand our data and recognize opportunities better and quicker.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau Desktop is fine software. I like it very much but it is pricy in my view. If the price of this software is decreased than it would be very beneficial for users like me. Besides this, I don’t find any other concerns with Table Desktop.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau Desktop is really useful software. I love that it is very easy to run. The dashboard's interface is very good, it is very useful to understand the statistic of the project. I am instantly able to make data-driven judgments and unseal new insights more often and with a higher level of confidence.

The gold standard of visual analytics

  • October 02, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau combines powerhouse features with tremendous ease of use. Tableau can connect to dozens of data sources including expected connections for SQL, Oracle, Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive, Google docs, web data connectors, and much more. Tableau smartly anticipates joining data tables and takes much of the guesswork out of the process. unlike other platforms, tableau also smartly anticipates level of detail operations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau could improve it’s array of data visualization options including donut charts, gauges, and Sankey charts.
While Tableau supports plug-ins for these visualizations, they often are not customizable and don’t take full advantage of tableau us abilities. Working with a Tableau API can be challenging but does help to get the most mileage out of the product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Google forms to gather extensive amounts of data about our business operations. We easily connect the data to tableau and within minutes are gaining deep insights about our practices and how we can improve our operations. Joining data to other aspects of our business, for example, through Google Analytics is a snap. Sharing our findings through Tableau Public or the Tableau Online platform only takes minutes. Using visual analytics in Tableau we have revised and enhanced many of our business operations.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider carefully what you want out of your visual analytics platform. If you have exceedingly high demands, Tableau desktop is the preferred solution

My Tableau Desktop Reveiw

  • September 30, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Love the interface. It's very smooth and easy to connect multiple numbers of data points
Provided a lot of self-learning tutorials which are easy to follow
You can display info in different ways (categorical versus numerical)
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes takes a while to refresh
A bit expensive
Pullind data, particularly if you are not familiar with SQL or other query languages, can be a bit challenging
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are transitioning all of the data from my department into Tableau so that it can be stored all in one place and visualized. I work for a university IT department that runs a helpline. Our organization collects data on the individuals that call for help. I am able to use Tableau to analyze the caller demographic data. In doing this I am able to get data-driven answers to questions like "what areas are most in need?", "are there certain populations that seem to be disproportionately impacted by our IT rollouts?", and "are there any trends in this caller data that would suggest we focus our resources on specific issues?".
