Great Software for Visualization

  • January 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The seamless connectivity to many data sources like SQL, Excel etc. and wide variety of data visualization templates make it a very useful toll for data analysis and presentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's sometimes a little clunky, not as versatile as writing code directly in R or python using the packages there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visualization, Presentation, Data Exploration and Analysis

Fantastic way to visualize your data

  • January 21, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau is easy to use and provides fantastic insight into your data. I particularly enjoy the ability to join data from various data sources (blending) - this is really valuable when you don't have a central data warehouse to pull data from but want to have consolidated reporting.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product has a premium price tag which makes it difficult to sell internally.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reporting on multiple sources of information in a graphical format.
Being able to answer business problems effectively with evidence in the data - in a meaningful visual way

Best Data Visualization Tool

  • January 18, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Love the number of sources we can use to connect to Tableau. No prior development knowledge is needed to start and they also have an awesome community.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lags few times on my work laptop probably due to low RAM but works flawlessly on my personal laptop.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visualize digital marketing campaign performance data. We have setup automated weekly and quarterly dashboard to view overall marketing effort.

Tableau is like Excel on Steroids (without the negative side effects)

  • January 18, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I'm able to take huge amounts of data and quickly manipulate them to find trends and outliers/issues. In theory, you can do this in Excel with pivot tables and what not. But, it's so much more efficient in Tableau, and so much more robust.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau is most effective, in my opinion, if you have some coding background so you can create more complex calculations and use the advanced features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've identified the root cause of certain KPI shifts on our website by drilling into various dimensions and combinations of dimensions (using ad hoc groupings).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try the free 14-day trial. You can easily connect directly to an Excel spreadsheet to test Tableau. I'm a former programmer and data architect, which I think aids in my ability to use the tool. But, even without a strong technical background, I think the Tableau training videos can get anyone up and running pretty quickly.

Great tool!

  • January 18, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that all your data is right there for you to view. It shows you things like how much sales or productivity have dropped and why. There is a dashboard where you can explore data and assign tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has came a long way since it first came out for use. It still doesn't do everything that other crm's do, some people integrate it with other software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for customer information. Setup to a long time, but once ball was rolling it helps tremendously!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be patient, it can be overwhelming at first, especially if you do not deal with data.

What do you dislike about the product?

Data visualization

Big improvement from the last platform

  • January 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The user friendliness is awesome. Takes a lot of my previous responsibilities and busy work away.
What do you dislike about the product?
System bugs out about 3 times a week. Some features are only available on the desktop or mobile version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Production tracking, and improving sales results of trainees. So the biggest one I use is presentation to close analytics. When someone's production goes down, I point out the gaps in Salesforce that we can work on together.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make the app version as user friendly as the website

Critical for any analytically driven organization

  • January 17, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau not only allows analysts to build great visualizations, but also allows them to explore their data, find key insights, and answer critical business problems.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau has a steep learning curve between introduction to intermediate users. It takes using it on a consistent basis to achieve proficiency.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau is my first stop to answering any data-related questions. It has unlocked value across my organization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't let the price tag dissuade you. This is the premier analytics tool - no other software has the support, community, or functionality of Tableau.

Great BI tool, easy to use

  • January 16, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Connectivity into other data sources, availability of training materials, ease of use. Ability to quickly change type of visualizations with one click. Number of possible data sources that can be connected. New features are always being reviewed and added, and many are originated by requests from users. Support is very quick to respond and help.
What do you dislike about the product?
Price, challenges with SAP, mobile tools only work with server product. It would be great to have a standalone mobile app without a server license. There really isn’t a lot that I dislike about it, other than when companies choose other tools over Tableau. Also, when people think it’s just a more robust form of spreadsheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick analysis of data - easily find hot spots for opportunity or best practices. Interpreting large volumes of data simply and quickly. Telling stories visually with real data as opposed to relying on tribal knowledge or anecdotes. Turning massive spreadsheets into pictures that highlight where to focus.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take some of the free training to familiarize yourself. Be patient if migrating your audience from spreadsheets to visualizations as they may initially want to just replicate a spreadsheet look. If integrating with other software be sure to learn the types of connections and login access needed. Understand what problem you are trying to solve or what data you need to find clues to solving problems. Use the community and forums to ask questions and see how others are leveraging Tableau and sharing best practices.
