Tableau is a great data viz platform for novices or experienced users.

At times, it can take some research or troubleshooting to figure out solutions when new to the platform. Could be more intuitive.

Learn a New Skill
What do you like best about the product?
I recently used this product to plot the hometowns of the Science and Math majors within our department. It was simple to use and allowed me to easily import data and edit the data.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve to the software. It took me a little time to understand how to use but the videos were very helpful and walked me through each step.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has helped us understand the demographics of students we serve and what areas are must successful for recruiting within our departments. It has taken a lot of legwork out of this data study for me and really pieced it together in an easily digestible format.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Spend some time watching the videos and researching how to use the product on the internet. It is important to have sound data and make sure there are no typos before uploading it to the software.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is user friendly and that you can access for different platforms (i.e. laptop, iPad and iPhone). It is also interactive with Outlook which allows us to add activities from out into SalesForce.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like the fact that not all of the information from a Sales opportunity will transfer between the different platforms when utilizing SalesForce.

Tableau let's you visualise you data in a matter of minutes
What do you like best about the product?
The data visualization power of tableau is still unmatched by any other vendor in the market. The ease of generating and publishing dashboards along with the ability to auto refresh data makes working on data simple and fun !

The nitty gritty when it comes to table wise calculations and conditional calculations can be a bit tedious

Beautiful, user-friendly, expensive
What do you like best about the product?
The Tableau interface is user-friendly (with helpful online training as well) and can make beautiful and flexible displays. Also valuable is its feature to build the shell of the dashboard and then update it month over month (for my use) with the new month's data/additional data as you collect it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau Desktop is a great tool, but very expensive, and the free Tableau reader option seemed to cause a lot of problems for clients using the dashboards made in Desktop. As I used it, it seemed like it would only be helpful if the dashboards were static or if the clients could open them in Tableau Desktop
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Monthly metric reporting -- this is much faster because the shell of the report is built and tweaked as necessary, but all I have to do is load in the new data and refresh. Saves the man hours of reproducing the report (tediously) in Excel, etc. every month.
Top Dashboarding Tool
What do you like best about the product?
There's a a reason why Tableau is the dashboarding indudstry standard. It's easy to use, powerful, and pretty customizable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau does get bogged down when trying to display a lot of data in a report table (but it can handle being linked to a table with >1 billion rows). The process to combining data sources into one dashboard could be improved - menus and tools are confusing.

Great option to have companywide sources of truth for data and analytics.
