Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be thoughtful about the number of licenses required, given frequency or infrequency of use of the software (e.g., not all individuals require a license). Also be careful to consider Tableau in context of other data visualization tools that are less expensive but also less sophisticated in terms of the capabilities offered for end users - other tools may provide the required basic functionality for lower cost. Oftentimes, graphs and charts within Microsoft PowerPoint may suffice if advanced data analysis is not required.
Provide training sessions to front-line employees to be able to perform basic functionality for select use cases (e.g., including map-style visualizations by geography). Deliver user guides that walk through commonly performed tasks within the Tableau interface.

Lack of live dashboard like PowerBI, difficult to self-learn all features. Expensive licensing

Consider tableau if you have a large and complex dataset that need high customization of reporting.
The Application Is Very Good But The Constant Updates For Desktop Version Are Annoying
What do you like best about the product?
I knew this service from the academic field and then I was able to transfer it to the workplace. Excellent tool for data capture, processing and visualization. The application of statistical models on the data that is displayed is very useful and this is not complicated. What hooked me with this service was undoubtedly the combination of very pleasant and interactive graphical visualizations along with the application of advanced statistical models in some cases.
What do you dislike about the product?
As I mentioned before, the use of this service in the desktop version is annoying due to the constant updates that lead to reinstall the application. If they could give support with updates on the same downloaded version it would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tasks that may have involved days and even weeks I solved them in a very short period of time thanks to Tableau. Information that was housed in a database, which was to explore, order and apply statistical models for analysis, which could be complex to do involving different software, was easy to do using Tableau exclusively.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Please, do not make it necessary to update the monthly version of the desktop in order to publish the boards online. It is tedious and annoying. I understand that this is what your business is all about, but if they do it more bearable, it would be great.

Do not have enough information about Data extraction which is the step you need to do before you can publish your work on Tableau public.

Sleazy Sales & Poor Customer Service
What do you like best about the product?
Overall, the product itself has given us what we need but dealing with the support has been a nightmare.
Definitely test using their trial offer. We found the integration to be fairly straightforward and were able to get up and running after only a couple of hours of work.
The product has some UI issues but is robust and functions well for our needs. If you buy, just hope that you don't have to deal with customer service or a sales rep.

What do you dislike about the product?
Our sales associate, Yassine, couldn't have been any worse. He didn't have a ton of product knowledge, would say he was going to do something and not do it and came across as a sleazy, double charging us and not sending a refund.
In general, I have just spent way too much time chasing the support team and sales team to get a response. There is zero internal communication and depending who you talk to you will be told a different answer.
Example, after our purchase we received a broken URL for our authorization code which seemed like a very minor issue but took more than a week to resolve and led to more than a month of headaches and issues.
It has been super disappointing and I would not recommend this product to anyone. The headaches far out way any advantages this product might have over other providers.

Great for generating quick data visualizations
What do you like best about the product?
Drag and drop workflow makes it quick and easy to create meaningful data visualizations. Very simple to modify different things, like type of graph, type of data, etc. until you get what you need.
What do you dislike about the product?
For more complex actions, it is definitely less intuitive. Lots of training is needed to use this software effectively.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helps turn data into meaningful information through visualizations. Helps to discover different opportunities/problems.
Very user-friendly interface
What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Tableau server is that it helps the concerned person a lot to read and analyze the data in a very comprehensive manner. I have even heard that it facilitates MS Excel Add ins hence reducing manual efforts. Tableau is a tool that maintains the data in the backend and provides significant insights on the front end thus helping to take appropriate decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a bit of time to load. Apart from this, nothing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We keep our eye on organic and inorganic offtake of user, their behavior and consumption patterns and more things that are related to digital marketing. All-in-one-place benefit with insightful charts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just go for it. Do consider Tableau Add ins available for MS Excel. Your way of looking at data will significantly change.
Great Data Viewer
What do you like best about the product?
It's ability to make data crossing with a great amount of information. You can extract exactly what you need & in the way you need. It's really versatile.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's on the pricey side. In order to get an annual subscription you need to pay a lot more than other similar software
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Multidimensional tables that allowed me to cross data in order to check the monthly progress of Share of Market. I could analyze data throughout different filters and this allowed me to identify problems and areas that needed improvement. Therefore, it was a great tool to develop marketing and selling strategies.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you follow all the tutorials that the developer offers online since they are really useful and you will become a pro using the software.
Great software for reports and visualization
What do you like best about the product?
Tableau is very easy to use and connect to multiple data sources. I was able to connect it to various MSSQL databases and quickly build reports.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Tableau is powerful to use, it has many great features that aren't very intuitive and need to take a class or watch online tutorials to get the hang of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau replaces reports that we previously created in Excel. It's much more powerful and can create dashboards very easily.
Great way to scale your insights, some good and some bad

Ability to drag-and-drop to create visuals was great, ability to iterate/change a chart was very simple, drilldowns through "Actions" was very cool once you learned it
What do you dislike about the product?
Cant edit a query for a Published data-source which makes it less flexible than I needed it to be, tough to get formatting the way you want it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to scale the ability to get slicable healthcare data insights into the hands of our Customer Success org. As a result, we leaned on Tableau Desktop for the creation/curation of data and charts, then published our findings to Tableau Server (the online version) so that our end users could leverage what we built... Benefits realized are that we built a scalable, sliceable, auto-updating, dataset and visuals that end-users can leverage instead of our team having to manually curate for each ask then manually update each month/quarter
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Tableau has a great User Community so definitely leverage them and their resources as you get familiar with the product... PowerBI is stronger with the Microsoft suite obviously, so keep that in mind if Microsoft-integration its truly a necessary requirement with your BI software.
