I conduct risk monitoring activity report reviews using this platform

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Most importantly, the graphics and visualization showing different data elements clearly help define our company's engagement activities and help our organizations make decisions as a result of what we see. They also help me and my team explain trends and statistics much more easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have noticed that when our data expands t include more than just names but multiple variables that connect with other page views, data freezes. Tableau Server stop working effectively. Filters may not work and then, visualization is skewed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
capture of risk of certain engagements and activities between company representatives and stakeholders.

Ease to Use and Share Graphically. Continously improving.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau is easy to set up and start using. Building charts and graphs are quite simple and help to spot trends on transaction data as long as it fits the format that tableau needs. The product has been continuously evolving and adding real core usability like union queries. Reasonably good to mash up data. It has a very large and active user community so if you are stuck you should be able to search and find a solution quickly or post in their forums and get a response in a few hours. Tableau Reader is a great companion app that lets you share findings with colleagues. Lot of tutorials on youtube on how to start off. Perfect for business users looking to do some analysis and charting without the clunky interface that excel forces. Also share data without exposing it and only share to relevant business users.
What do you dislike about the product?
It requires a lot of data cleansing and prep before it can be loaded into it for charting/analysis. This means you can end up going back to excel and get enticed to stay there. Discipline to go back to it and you are fine. Can be very slow when reading large data sets so not very scalable. A number of issues with formats and having to use too many complicated code in formulas for straight forward things like date formats. This can put you off or will be time consuming to set up. Colour palette is not best in class and often you cannot import you company's branding and colour palette into the tool to ensure that you don't fall foul of the brand police. Editing of fonts is time consuming and difficult to automatically apply styling to different charts once they are built.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easily show outliers and visual graphs that show differences and issues for various items in one dashboard that takes very little time to put together compared to standard spread sheets. Its also visually appealing and a welcome change from large rows and tables of numbers that a number of finance reports tend to be. Hence you can show absolute numbers and proportions to each other at the same time. This allows easy comparison of different cuts of the data in one dashboard and quickly focus on business decision making rather than spend hours creating and securing an excel file.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go ahead and buy it. You will see the benefits immediately, Get your team to adopt it and eventually you go go for the server version once you have critical mass. As long as your team has access to data they can quickly build compelling data charts to support ideas and collaborate with each other.

Great Reporting Tool

  • July 26, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the flexibility of the reporing views, tables and charts. Tableau turns out very professional looking reports that are useful and easy for the client to view.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not well versed in programming, so have difficulty sometime determining how to create certain fields that I need to show on my reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Giving clients a clear view of results from various programs including PPC, Organic search and Pay-Per-Call platforms. One huge benefit is being able to easily go back in history to pull and compare past performance. Highlight trends over time and across various media.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend that everyone using Tableau go through an in-person training session to be bale to fully understand everyting that Tableau can do with your data. It's only a good as the data that is inputting, so you need to make sure everything you might possibly need now of in the future is included in the data source.

Tableau shaved hours off manual reporting in Excel

  • July 26, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Tableau is very easy to pick up. The ability to export reports and create trend lines aided me in tracking key metrics for my team.
What do you dislike about the product?
As with all data crunching suites, the tool works best when the data is solid. For some of my reports, the data set was massive and the reports weren't as current as needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tableau helped me analyze data and trends swiftly. It shaved off hours of time previously spent creating manual reports in Excel. Being able to shift reports on the fly and the drag-and-drop interface was a huge gain for creating and tweaking reports.

Short-term user for 6 months

What do you like best about the product?
the visualization of the data; the ability to drill down into details; the user interface is fantastic
What do you dislike about the product?
while it does allow me to drill down into details - the details are not what I was used to - usually in our datasets, we can link on a cell and more details would open up on another tab - we lost that ability in Tableau
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
our data management team was overwhelmed with data requests - Tableau allowed us to provide real-time data to internal stakeholder on demand

Tableau makes pulling live data reports easy

  • July 15, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy Tableau because I like the ability to pull live reports very easily and quickly. It is nice to be able to have different templates/files that you can quickly pull specific fields.
What do you dislike about the product?
I mainly use Tableau to pull live reports and quick and easy ways to quality control our data. The extent to which I have used this application I have been happy with.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to quality control our data is HUGE in making sure our information is correct and accurate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a nice way to have different users and have the ability to access live and up to date data that allows you to quality control any bulk upload data or "data entry" information. It is also really easy to pull data from your system so that clients can easily view and quality check the information you have in their system.

Very intuitive and easy to hook up, excellent visuals.

  • July 02, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the simple connections with multiple data sources and the ability to create joins on seemingly disparate sources.
What do you dislike about the product?
A lot of the visuals take a lot of extra work to create visually, mostly due to a lack of direct script writing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We did not have any reporting or dashboards outside of Excel spreadsheets, this gave us the ability to have a better visual which automatically updated with our base SQL / Salesforce / Google Analytics data automatically.
