What is most valuable?
Veeam Data Platform is valuable for its stability and the ability to easily contact support for assistance. The support team provides answers whenever we need them. It is also one of the most scalable backup solutions I've worked with.
What needs improvement?
The improvement we would like to see is the option to scale Veeam Data up in smaller sections rather than large sections, which requires paying much more. The navigation of menus can be difficult to find what you're looking for sometimes.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Veeam Data Platform is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
In order to scale Veeam Data Platform, we have to pay a lot more money. I am not the heaviest user, but I've experienced that it is expensive to scale.
How are customer service and support?
Their customer service has been responsive every time we have asked for assistance.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We used Veritas before switching to Veeam Data Platform. The change was because Veeam handles our data storage better, especially with our numerous locations and the size of our distribution.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I am not directly involved with the pricing, setup cost, or licensing, as it is handled by another department. From what I know, it is expensive to add modules, with a scale rating of eight out of ten.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I've never used the Dell backup solution.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Veeam Data Platform a nine out of ten because they have been responsive to every request.

Excellent backup alternative compared to Windows 7 Backup Utility
What do you like best about the product?
Veeam fills the gap in backup and replication software that is not truly out of the box with Microsoft Windows and associated software suites.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very convenient to be able to manage all data backup/replication on a single platform and not have to remote into a bunch of different clients on older versions of Windows such as 7.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is our all in one backup, replication, and business continuity/data replication tool. Great interface, but compliance features (GxP) are not out of the box and are quite expensive. VeeamOne provides insights into application history and runtime metrics.
The best virtual and cloud environments for backup and replication is Veeam.

What captured our attention is the convenience of use of Veeam’s flexibility. It is compatible with almost any hardware so there are no limitations. The simplicity of the product setup and operation is outstanding. The fact that the premium platform's DR orchestration feature can be enabled was also especially noteworthy.

What do you dislike about the product?
We have not tried it long enough to say we don’t like anything because we’ve just bought it. Possibly the immutable backup needs the third-party device. But, you can escape this issue by creating your own Linux repository.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The need for VMware Site Recovery Manager is being replaced. With the built-in DR orchestration, we do not need to procure licenses for this any longer. What’s more, this issue we had with earlier immutable backups was also resolved.

While basic functions are straightforward, mastering some of the more advanced features can require significant time and effort. This learning curve might be a hurdle for less experienced IT staff.

Data loss due to hardware failure, human error, cyberattacks, or natural disasters can cripple an organization but, Veeam provides reliable and frequent backups, ensuring that data can be restored quickly in case of loss. This minimizes downtime and protects against data loss.
