Veeam Data Platform - Excellent Backup and Recovery Product
What do you like best about the product?
Veeam Data Platform offers comprehensive protection for all environments—whether physical, virtual, or cloud-based. It delivers secure and reliable data backup and recovery solutions, ensuring that our data is protected across the entire infrastructure. With its advanced capabilities, Veeam ensures minimal downtime and rapid recovery in the event of data loss or disaster. Additionally, Veeam has an excellent support system, providing timely assistance and guidance to ensure our backup and recovery processes run smoothly. Veeam RESTful APIs helped us develop unique custom solution for Storage Guardian's customers so that they can manage Veeam assets through our Veeam Self-Provisioning Portal, including storage quotas, licenses, billing, alarms, and alerts.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is room for improvement in its documentation. It would benefit from more comprehensive and detailed guides to help users like us better navigate its advanced functionalities. Additionally, expanding the range of Veeam’s RESTful APIs would be highly valuable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Previously, we relied on a cloud backup solution that struggled to keep up with evolving demands and ultimately became obsolete. The Veeam Data Platform, however, provided a robust and scalable solution that effectively addresses the modern requirements of data protection across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. It seamlessly integrates backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and security, ensuring both the availability and integrity of our enterprise data. As Veeam continues to innovate and expand integrations with emerging technologies, it has solidified its position as a leader in the data protection space.
We developed custom solution for Storage Guardian - Veeam Self Provisioning Portal using Veeam RESTful APIs.
Storage Guardian customers seamlessly manage their Veeam assets through Veeam Self-Provisioning Portal, including storage quotas, licenses, billing, alarms, and alerts. The portal provides a birds-eye view of all the accounts in one centralized place; allowing for ease of management while reducing overhead and engineering time.

All of our backup needs can be consolidated, and it is a reliable solution for data protection

While it is more costly than some of the options, I would prefer to invest in a backup solution I trust then cut corners for my backups.

Ability to perform full image backups on multiple different kinds of systems all from one place, with all the monitoring and alerting needed to keep tabs on it.

Veeam- The Industry Standard for Backup Solutions
What do you like best about the product?
I love how robust Veeam is for backing up a wide range of operating systems, and being able to manage them from a single location. Even utilizing cloud storage like Wasabi is seemless to setup in Veeam, which makes it easy for us to manage all backups.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't really have any negative things to say about Veeam. It is a superior backup software compared to other options, such as Acronis. I don't think I would ever decide to use a different solution other than Veeam after how positive my experience has been the past 5 years.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Veeam Data Platform is our solution to disaster recovery. With Veeam having a strong service of restoring servers, files, etc, we have a sense of safety knowing we have something to fall back on.

Veeam gives you great data recovery/backup with an easy to use interface.

Sometimes eats up the VM that it runs on. Requuires decent hardware to run.

Basically all things backup related this takes care of. Whether its SQL databases or VMs or Kubernetes. Your covered.

Veeam Data Platform comes in different editions, which means any individual or company can afford a model suited to them.
Foundation, Advanced and Premium.
The monitoring and analytics tool in the Advanced and Premium editions is the best on the market in my opinon.
As a consultant, Im yet to come across a customer who has not heard of Veeam, with the majority already using it in some capacity.

What do you dislike about the product?
Veeam Monitoring Tool - Veeam One, is not included in Veeam Data Foundation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Veeam Data Platform (VDP) is our go-to-market product for all things back up. One license bundle will allow you to choose between backing up physical workloads, private cloud, multi cloud and Azure and AWS. Only one Software is required for all backup and replication requirements across all workloads.

What is most valuable?
Veeam Data Platform is valuable for its stability and the ability to easily contact support for assistance. The support team provides answers whenever we need them. It is also one of the most scalable backup solutions I've worked with.
What needs improvement?
The improvement we would like to see is the option to scale Veeam Data up in smaller sections rather than large sections, which requires paying much more. The navigation of menus can be difficult to find what you're looking for sometimes.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Veeam Data Platform is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
In order to scale Veeam Data Platform, we have to pay a lot more money. I am not the heaviest user, but I've experienced that it is expensive to scale.

Their customer service has been responsive every time we have asked for assistance.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We used Veritas before switching to Veeam Data Platform. The change was because Veeam handles our data storage better, especially with our numerous locations and the size of our distribution.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I am not directly involved with the pricing, setup cost, or licensing, as it is handled by another department. From what I know, it is expensive to add modules, with a scale rating of eight out of ten.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
I've never used the Dell backup solution.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Veeam Data Platform a nine out of ten because they have been responsive to every request.
