What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate IBM Instana because it is ideal for teams operating in dynamic, complex environments where conventional monitoring solutions struggle. Its speed, automation, and intelligent insights ensure that systems remain reliable and customers stay satisfied. I love that it provides real-time monitoring, automatically finds services, spots problems quickly, and scales easily across complex systems. This capability helps teams to work more efficiently, avoid downtime, and enhance the customer experience. I find it particularly useful because it makes monitoring easy by giving fast, automated insights to keep services operating smoothly. It is also highly recommended for its fast and reliable monitoring capabilities, which have earned it a 9 out of 10 in my recommendation.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found that pricing could be improved, suggesting that the cost structure may not be optimal for all users. The setup ease also has room for improvement, particularly for large organizations, which might require more extensive initial configurations. Additionally, the dashboard flexibility needs enhancement to better cater to varied user requirements.

What do you like best about the product?
I find IBM Instana's AI-based staging feature to be a standout element, allowing for easy installation on any platform, which is a very good feature. The simplicity of the setup is remarkable, with minimal effort required beyond providing credentials, and it quickly becomes operational. This ease of setup is complemented by its effective monitoring capabilities, as you can log in from various systems and view the monitoring dashboard effortlessly. It requires no additional configuration on virtual machines, which is particularly valuable. Overall, the installation process's ease and its quick readiness for use work exceptionally well for me.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that IBM Instana's AI agent sometimes gives false alarms. This can be disruptive and lead to unnecessary inspections or actions based on inaccurate alerts. Improvement in the accuracy of these alerts would be beneficial.

IBM Instana solves downtime issues by effectively monitoring our software applications and infrastructure. It offers AI-based staging, easy installation, and setup, making it operational across any platform, enhancing our monitoring efforts.
Comprehensive Monitoring, Needs Simplified UI
What do you like best about the product?
I love how IBM Instana allows for comprehensive tracking across front end, back end, databases, and cloud APIs, all combined in one place. This integration is incredibly valuable to me as it simplifies the process of monitoring and managing different components. I appreciate that Instana helps us in mapping our dashboard, detecting abnormal spikes which is crucial for us in the security field, and spotting unusual service communications. This has been essential in enhancing our ability to identify potential antivirus threats and streamline our processes both during development and in production. The tool has greatly contributed to making our operations smooth and secure by enabling faster identification of the root causes of issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that IBM Instana's architecture could be improved to be more user-friendly. The current interface can be somewhat complex, which makes it take more time for me to understand it. Simplifying the interface would greatly enhance my experience with the product.

I love how IBM Instana automatically discovers every service, container, dependency, database call, API, and infrastructure component without the need for manual configuration or guesswork. This real-time automatic service mapping provides instant clarity on what’s happening in my environment. I find this feature incredibly valuable to quickly understand the complete application landscape and stay informed with real-time updates. Additionally, the installation process is seamless, requiring just one lightweight agent per host or Kubernetes node, with no complex configuration, manual service definitions, code changes, or instrumentation dependencies needed. This allows Instana to start discovering services within minutes. These functionalities make IBM Instana stand out as an efficient and user-friendly tool for monitoring applications end-to-end.
What do you dislike about the product?
IBM Instana’s biggest limitation is its cost. It collects one-second metrics, full distributed traces, and high-cardinality data, leading to a high data ingestion volume. This can drive up licensing and storage costs, especially for large microservices environments, massive Kubernetes clusters, and enterprises with hundreds of nodes. A more flexible or usage-based pricing model would be beneficial.

I use IBM Instana to automatically discover the application landscape, draw a real-time dependency map, and provide instant clarity on infrastructure, eliminating manual configuration and guesswork for end-to-end application monitoring.
Empowering Transaction Insights with a Promising Observability Tool
What do you like best about the product?
We are leveraging this tool to build an observability project aimed at enhancing visibility into declined transactions. Our goal is to identify the underlying causes of these errors and refine the customer-facing messages to facilitate self-resolution and improve the overall user experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
We are currently exploring the tool from both a business and UX perspective, so at this stage, I can’t identify anything I particularly dislike.
