My Bachelor's Thesis
What do you like best about the product?
It is very good for the education system, it really helps a lot in pcb design
What do you dislike about the product?
Need more tutorials and try to make the menu more intuitive to select options when designing the schematic and pcb.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me to design the footprints, to improve the pcb design, to have a clear perspective before sending it to manufacture.
Engineer
What do you like best about the product?
The link between schematic and pcb layout
What do you dislike about the product?
The spice simulator is not so easy to undesrtand and use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The availability of components showing the life cycle and where to buy them
Recommended, but hard to use as only tool for system engineering
What do you like best about the product?
it is very user-friendly. Short learning curve.
What do you dislike about the product?
The flexibility in the analysis section is very limited. Exports as well from that section should be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving away from a document based approach.
The Best Online Schematic and PCB Tool
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to easily share designs with both colleagues and external businesses. The data management tools are great for controlling our design data in a way that's compliant with our quality system. The customer support team are usually excellent, often resolving issues within days of raising them. Our electronics design team use Altium 365 almost every day, and have never encountered any issues with their servers.
What do you dislike about the product?
The increased cost of the "enterprise" license for the feature upgrades that are included with this level are impossible to justify to the business. As our Altium 365 admin, I'd like to make use of some of the enterprise features, but the jump in cost from "Pro" to "Enterprise" is unjustifiable for a business of our size.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium 365 allows us to manage PCB design data with ease, mainly through their release and lifecycle management tools. The design tool itself is the most effective schematic/PCB design tool I've used (having been doing electronics design for over 10 years), and massively reduces the time it takes me to complete design activities. I have implemented the lifecycle management tools in our workspace and this is now a part of our official internal design process, which makes it much easier to comply with our quality system.
Ph.D Student Satisfaction
What do you like best about the product?
Unlike other design software, Altium Designer is more professional and gives you many tools that will be beneficial for your future work.
What do you dislike about the product?
I got a student license as a PhD student. Unfortunately this version is limited in that you can't make changes in all rules, differential pairs are not included and some other features that limited my experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium Designer gives me the ability to create my own solutions, providing me with the tools to create minimized PCBs and view the final product before it is manufactured.
Top Cad for electronic design
What do you like best about the product?
The most hepful is the library management and the link of the components with suppliers
What do you dislike about the product?
Some times the routing in the PCB editor is not trivial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The components management that with active BOM says if a component is active and you can find it.
Pleasantly surprised!
What do you like best about the product?
I have used other PCB design software in the past, but this was my first time trying to use Altium to make a full project from start to finish. I really enjoyed the interface and ease of use. Everything was fairly intuitive and easy to navigate through the commands. I also like the manufacturer part search that is built into the software. This is a big selling point for me on Altium because the most time consuming part of a project for me always comes down to footprints and 3D models. Altium has made this considerably easier. Once I actually made it to the PCB for routing and placing components, I saw where Altium was superior to other software packages that I've used.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not a big fan of the cloud saving. Maybe I am old fashioned, but I prefer the local saves. This is only a minor inconvenience and even though I don't necessarily like the cloud saving, I see why they want to do it and why it is beneficial for users. Also I am not a big fan of the change from the old design rules to the new constraint manager.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium is making my PCB design process much faster by having a lot of very helpful built-in features. It did not take a long time to pick up and learn, which is always a benefit. Also the project output functionality when you are finished with a project, but need to export the Gerber and Drill files is very easy to use and useful.
It just works, and doesn´t make any trouble!
What do you like best about the product?
Altium 365 stores data in the cloud, thus data exchnage with collegues or students is no problem any more. I like that a bridge between ECAD and MCAD is included. Yet I had no time to test it. Altium 365 is very good integrated in Altium Designer. You can even make local projects availabel in the cloud.
Altium generaly has a good customer supprt and very good help weppages, which are very detailed.

What do you dislike about the product?
Cloud storage is convinient as university. Regarding companys I see the a problem with data security.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium 365 makes data always availabel, better than company own network strage. Data can be shared with students and collegues, what makes working in a team easier.
Easy to share & use
What do you like best about the product?
Provide access to major tools of Altium without the need of the software background in the PC. Easy to share with stakeholders that need access and providing an extra cloud / security server.
What do you dislike about the product?
The idea to combine web-application and cloud repository is great, but could be more flexible, in our company we use the web-application benefits but the cloud and repository is still not plenty used. There is a big history in azure repositories and we do not want to lose it, so we are design in Azure and only in final releases we share in 365 plataform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A365 provide a web-client that is easy to use and help any non-skilled person of the PCB mainstream to use and access the data. In our company there are areas that can't share the same network access and before A365 we always have troubles with outside areas of the R&D find the updated information since we do not control how do they manage our files there. The webclient ambient with cloud service makes this easy to achieve.
PCB design software with every feature I need from start to finish
What do you like best about the product?
I have been a user of Altium Designer for some time now, where during some periods I used it for long sessions multiple times per day.
I found Altium to be very capable, with every tool for the job along the design process. The design rules served both as a check that everything was right, but also guided the designs and placements according to these rules. The latter, although it may seem basic, is not something I have found implemented in software I have used for other purposes/industries before, so this was a pleasant suprise.
The program was overwhelming at first due to the vastness of features and settings, but later on this vastness is something I appreciated as I didn't find myself limited by the program.
The online libary feature ("Manufacturer Part Search") is great and I have found that almost every commercially available component can be found here (that I have used), from many different suppliers. This helps a lot when searching for footprints, just select a component, instead of having to download files by searching on the web.
The walk-through tutorials both in video format and text have been of great use.

What do you dislike about the product?
Creating your own component libary from the online libary is a bit clunky unless you are an Altium 365 workspace user, where it seems to be pretty seamless.
I experienced soem minor bugs when updating the pcb from schematic, and when using the camtastic tool to export drill files. The teardrop fillet feature does also not consistently recognize all T-junctions so some had to be done manually.
The program is a bit slow sometimes on the systems I have tested it on, but this could possibly be attributed to not having access to high end hardware.

Altium makes us able to complete pcb-designs for manufacturing pcb's in our lab.
