Very intuitive and well integrated!
What do you like best about the product?
Very intuitive UI which is based on interacting with objects as opposed to commands. It's a joy making beautiful schematics and PCBs. The other top features are Draftsman and the project packager. You can generate ALL output files with a single click, and Draftsman finally allows ASM/FAB drawings to be designed outside of the PCB editor. The seamless workflow of Altium designer is truly one of its greatest assets.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't hit any issues. In fact, they take feature requests and bug reports and constantly roll out updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a consultant, the amount of time it saves in the design process allows me to deliver great, timely results to clients without much waste
Highly capable program for PCBA design, but with a substantial learning curve
What do you like best about the product?
All in one end to end functionality, including parts library database, schematic entry, detailed rule assignments, good support for hierarchial designs, built-in line impedance calculator and signal analysis, flexible PCB parameters.
What do you dislike about the product?
it can be very difficult to find certain functions, and I still have not found a clean way of doing batch/ global operations to for instance lock all entities on a PCB (I typically use the PCB tab and lock the items by category), reconcile all part instances in a design with the libararies, re-assigning component IDs on the fly (and updating the SCH accordingly), and the confusing operation of the Pad & Via Templates library (and the way vias are handled as a whole: no convenient way to update vias on the PCB with vias in the Pad & Via Templates library, no way to specifiy stacked microvias, etc.).
Also the on-line documentation is written from a top down perspective, which makes it exceedly difficult to resolve issues encountered while running the program. There needs to be a solid, well maintained help portal which aggregates solutions for the many issues users encounter.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need a fully integrated package for complex PCB design, and it serves this purpose.
The most complete PCB design tool
What do you like best about the product?
All the integrations it has developed with the years. I've been using Altium Designer for many years now, I love how easy to use it is, the design environment is easy to handle and customize. Every year they add new features and have been improving the existing ones to make it a powerful and complete design tool. Draftsman, their documents design and automation tool is a big hit for this software suite, now I can automatically build documentation for my designs. I use Altium Designer on all of my PCB designs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would not complain at all of the software suite, I do think it is an expensive tool, and would really love to be more affordable so that I can use it for personal purposes. An observation about the Draftsman tool, the scrolling needs to be improved, it is too difficult to scroll between pages, a 9 pages document is a real pain.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We design our products, Altium Designer has been of such a great help for circuit and PCB designs. This is the to-go tool for all of our designs.
EE in the Medical Device industry with 27 years of experience.
What do you like best about the product?
You can use the basic features without much training.
What do you dislike about the product?
Advanced features can be difficult to figure out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have multiple PCBAs in our medical device and I am the only EE doing these designs. Altium is the package of choice for official boards that go in our Quality System.
Altium Designer is an easy to learn, full feature electronics design package.
What do you like best about the product?
I find that Altium designer is easy and always has been easy to learn and use. We have been using Altium products since the PCAD days and have a appreciated every version since then. Outside of high performance signal integrity tools ; I don't know why you would consider using another product. We have 16 designers who use Altium designer every day; plus technicans who use the Altium designer to diagnose repair issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
The least helpful part about Altium is the support. Even as a paying customer on maintenance it is difficult to get timely support on issues, routine or otherwise. Thankfully the the number of times we have needed support is small.
One specific feature that I used to love about Altium designer is the FPGA component, which facilitated easy pin swapping and sync'ing to top level HDL and constraint files. I was very dissapointed when that feature was discontinued.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium designer is the easiest package to onboard new engineers into; and get them designing quickly.
You don't need to know all the features to be initially productive ; and over time can learn more complex features to increase your efficiency.

Very Happy Long Time User
What do you like best about the product?
I've used Altium since 1998 and have had very good experience with it. I like that it is constantly updating and growing as technology improves. I've done projects as simple as a two layer PCB, 8 layer PCB, 3-layer flex circuits and multi-layer rigid flex with good results.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the flex circuit or rigid flex stuff is still pretty new and needs work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Altium for all of our circuit board design work...including legacy conversions and import of PCAD designs.
Easy to learn, easy to use, and powerful EE CAD tool
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to learn and use. Well developed online user documentation and tutorials on the core features of the tool, as well as advanced features. Good amount of cross-platform integration with other organizonal tools such as PLM tools. Altium 365 has been a major feature improvment providing easy access to drive user adoption (espeically frequency of use for non-EE users) and significantly helped with implementation within the organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love to see additional capabilities built into Altium that helps with modeling optical, power, and thermal for running simulation in conjunction with other tools such as MCAD (Creo and Solidworks) and optical CAD (Zemax).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Deliver electrical schematic and PCB design. Package design output in consistant way. Verification of component cost and availability early in the development process.
Altium Designer User Review
What do you like best about the product?
In general, the user interface is very good, the tool set is extensive and updates are easy to install. The customer support is generally good.
I frequently use it for all of our companies hardware designs. Designs are easy to implement and the integration with mechanical cad is good.

What do you dislike about the product?
Altium is slow to fix bugs and the feedback about bug fixes is poor. I feel they should make the tools that they have implemented work before adding new features. The Active BOM tool is a great idea but it is not implemented in a fashion that covers all use cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows us to effiecently design circuits and pcb's.
Awesome but pricey
What do you like best about the product?
All the options available and easy of use
What do you dislike about the product?
Price, taking advantage of lack of competing products
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems that you would expect when doing PCB design
