Most comprehensive PCb design tool!
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use is the primary advatage of Alitum designer! The options and menus are very logically laid out and allow for seamless work flow . For me, manufacturers part search is such a time saver! A great online support platform really adds to the experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few times when the Altium designer is not able to correctly read the files and associate them under a project. This usually occurs when a software update is done.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Altium designer in almost all of our electronics projects for desiging custom PCBs for our clients. It is certaily one of the best PCB tools I have used.
Altium Designer for PCB Design
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use interface and great workflow tools with Altium 365. Very easy to collaborate on one or many parts.
What do you dislike about the product?
We're able to handle most tasks with the Standard version. Wanted to connect to some of our Enterprise tools to manage users, but that requries an update to Enterprise licensing for which we really dont get any value outside of the LDAP/AD integration. So manual user management becomes the default for this set of tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With a large set of tools from most CAD vendors, Altium Designer makes PCB design and PCB workflow manegement very easy.
The most progressive ECAD design tool out there! Altium is always making improvements.
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and has a feature for every option. Interface is very user-friendly and has a lot of options and rules. The support is always available and very helpful. They solved my problem every time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes way too many options, almost wish there was an Altium-Lite version
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium Designer provides advanced visualization tools, such as 3D visualization and clearance checking, that help designers identify and resolve potential mechanical conflicts and clearance issues.
Excellent engineeringtool
What do you like best about the product?
I've used PADS, DxDesigner, OrCAD, etc. But Altium is my go to ECAD tool. Its ease of use, easy design rule creation, OutJob files, MCAD integration, and quick 3D viewing tools make developing electromechanical systems super easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are on occasion small bugs that cause the program to crash.

Fast schematic capture and PCB design. Easy MCAD rule creation and collaboration.
Best PCB Design Software
What do you like best about the product?
It has all the features for complicated design, but also extemely fast for doing simple designs. You are able to add complexity as you go and it has great online documentation and support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Integration with the MCAD systems are almost there, but there are a few bugs to be worked out. I would like Altium to continue to develop in this direction, including wire harness and other assembly level MCAD integrations.

PCB and PCBA design. Checking designs to ensure they will work prior to sending them to board shops.

It has lots of good features and is an all in one program.

It is slow, clunky, and sometimes it doesn't even run.
Most of all it is buggy and the developers don't appear to want to fix them. The developers spend all of their time creating features for the pro users while taking away features from the standard users.

They have fixed minor bugs like the compnents refresh shortcut (F5).

It's expensive.
It's always CHANGING so you can't rely on your PREVIOUS experience using it.
That STUPID Integrated Component Library is not MANDATORY to use. I can't find any of the OLD library parts anymore!

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Their stupid Integrated Component Library makes the job 10x harder. I find it impossible to use at all. I'm going to QUIT my job to get away from this CRAPPY tool my company INSISTS on using; let THEM deal with Altium's crappy attitude. Altium must HATE its customers.
One of the most versatile software packages for hardware engineers
What do you like best about the product?
Altium is very intuitive and has a fast learning curve for new users. It helps with the integration of the electrical and mechanical designs and helps the engineers to communicate between different fields much easier. Transfer of schematics changes to PCB is as seamless as it can get and there are new features added to make life easier for hardware engineers with every update.
The team supporting us is very responsive and we have had a very good experience working with them. I was originally a hardware engineer using this product and as I moved into management, I have found that the team supporting the product, are even better than the software itself.

The process of co-terming the licenses we have for my team could have taken less time. it's just a quality of life improvement and did not have any impact on productivity...

Schematic designs, Layout (PCB) design, exports for manufacturing, checking the mechanical compatibility of the boards by importing the mechanical enclosures, ...
Excellent tool for electronics devices and hardware designing.
What do you like best about the product?
There are many features which are best compare to any other hardware designing tool but we are using nit all of them some of features we are using in our project and personally I likes are belows.
3d simulation of PCB design after final circuit assembly., multiple board assembly, FPGA designs, other tool integration. And main realistic visualisation of designs. Etc

What do you dislike about the product?
Not sure exactly and can't compare with other tool in this industry cause its one of the best tool for hardware designing. But 3d visualisation can be lool into feature. But not bad all good.

Benefiting me in our Projects for designing and developing electronics pcbs and hardware. With integration of MCAD and other designing tools.
Powerful tool extends beyond schematic and PCB design
What do you like best about the product?
Altium Design allows not only schematic and PCB design, with mechanical and harnesses integration in one suite, it allows for system level design.
What do you dislike about the product?
Altium license management can be difficult to understand and at time, seem conflict to the purchased license agreement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With multiboard project, electrical, mechanical and harnesses integration in a system is easier to manage and able to identify system integration issue earlier in the development, such as fitment, placement and other potential issue that may arise when developing a product. Save cost and time to identify system integration issue before proceeding with prototyping.
