We are concerned about security issues, information in cloud is sensible, important for us. The corporate security team is concerned about that. All is in cloud.

I've bought lots of expensive engineering software, and in most cases the sales folks do a much better job of handling requests, quotes, payments, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium designer is our primary PCB software and helps with our multi-board design.
Altium for Small Businesses - All your basics but Managed
What do you like best about the product?
- Component management system;
- Their interpretation of version control and revision control/comments is top notch;
- All the basics (schmatic, layout, adding traces) and automations on the final pcb polishes (stitching, shielding, board cutoms)
- good integration with solidworks and fusion360 and other mcads;
- templates in pro version are super handy
- technical bug support is quality!
- smooth install and setup; works on low-grade machines as well

- UI is clunky and slow even on decent computers however, you generally learn to deal with it the longer you play;
- not compatible with macos;

Power Features with Seamless Cloud Integration
What do you like best about the product?
Altium has all the features we need to create PCBs quickly to get products to market faster.
We recently started using Altium 365. The cloud integration is seamless and allows us to work even faster.

Altium can have a steep learning curve, but the documentation is really good.

Getting PCB designs finished faster and without limitations or workarounds.
Trustworthy and reliable evolving platform
What do you like best about the product?
The platform is stable, consistent and user friendly. It has a incredibly powerful tools for development, and each release expands on that tool kit. I use it every day, and have done so for many years. It integrates well with a number of MCAD platforms, making product design a streamlined process.
What do you dislike about the product?
Learning curve can be steep, which is to be expected with a program with as many features as Altium.

A streamlined and concise way to design electronics, intergate with MCAD, and release and maintan designs acorss the product lifecycle.
Excellent ECAD product meeting all requirements of complex ECAD designs!

Integrated simulator, active BOM, assisted DDR routing techniques

Licenses are pricy and it is not possible small organisations to afford Altium multiple licenses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium has a well built SPICE simulator which supports testing designs in advance. It also has multiple features supporting impedance controlled routing that asists designer in complex mixed signal boards. Newly added features for designing harnesses takes the product into the next level. The user no longer needs harness design software like Rapid Harness.
I've used it since the protel days, and will use it until the end of days
What do you like best about the product?
It seems more integrated (between SCH and PCB) than other tools I've used, but more importantly is more intuitive than other tools (PADS, Orcad). Its about as fast to implement my designs as my thoughts behind it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It does feel a bit overwhelming to remember and find all the features - not unexpected; but this is a challenge, to make everything accessible and understandable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are an EE house, SCH & PCBs are our bread and butter, and this is a neccassary tool to materialize that. Particularly in our RF realm where the artwork is nitche and complex.

The BOM tool can be frustrating to use.

Design of high speed PCBs. We are a company that manufacturers hardware, so PCBs are essential part of the product.

Altium Designed is the best tool in the industry
What do you like best about the product?
Altium provides all the tools needed to design complex PCBAs all in one package. I like how centralized all the features are and the interface. You can do part/library creation, schematic capture, and PCB layout all in one tool, which facilitates both design as well as other tasks, like board review or debugging a boad/bringup. I have used it for 10+ years and it is now my tool of choice.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the licensing options are very complicated to understand. For example, Altium Nexus licenses can be very complicated, so much so that even the reps sometimes get confused!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I design boards. Altium is a one-stop shop for all my needs - part/library creation, schematic capture, board layout, and generating files/documentation for manufacturing. It allows me to do all this on one tool that is very powerful.
