Powerful design tool for professional use
What do you like best about the product?
Altium designer is a very powerful professional design tool that can be used to efficiently manage the entire design. The cloud based repository is very useful, and MCAD collaboration tools saves a lot of time during the design phase.
What do you dislike about the product?
The porgram sometimes crashes repeatedly, but the issues are usually sorted out quite quickly.
It is also a pricey tool and beginner users may struggle a bit finding their feet.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The collaboration feature between Altium and Solidworks is helpful. Version control is now integrated into the Altium Designer interface, making it easy to track changes
I had a great experience using altium to design a nice FM transmitter PCB for my class project.
What do you like best about the product?
Nice and easy user interface to navigate
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to think of but maybe the subscription cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaborative Design in a Global Environment,Version Control and Revision Management,Easy Access to Design Data,Secure Cloud-Based Storage,
Senior Hardware Developer
What do you like best about the product?
easy to use with all the features that I needs
What do you dislike about the product?
simulation for analog circuit wasn't good enough
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration between MCAD and ECAD
Strong PCB Design Software with Unique Features
What do you like best about the product?
Altium designer is cloud connected, has many strong tools, and is perfect for team-oriented PCB design with advanced component manufacturing and links to other softwares features. It can be taught and learnt in little time with practice and is easy to use once the workflow has been developed. Features are well documented and supproted.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve from other programs can be difficult for team members due to the massive amounts of features, as well as integrated Git and cloud service.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium Designer allows our multi-dozen Avionics team to work together and develop both our critical flight computation stack while also developing auxiliary boards and introduction learning boards.
The best industry standard ECAD tool
What do you like best about the product?
Their ease of use and highly customisable layout. The cloud based collaboration is also great
What do you dislike about the product?
Accessing examples and documntation with examples is not straight forward.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The co design feature for an easy of integration between MCAD and ECAD is great. This has simplified collaboration between electronics and mechanical design teams.
Versatile and functional software, excellent for PCB design
What do you like best about the product?
The software itself was very easy to use, with tools clear and well laid out. Great integration between schematic and PCB files, very helpful design constraint panel which can be customised to a given board house. I had trouble with my licence at first, but customer support quickly resolved that issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside was the lack of available footprints for some of the components that I used in my designs, which made it necessary to create custom schematic and footprint files.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used it in my PCB design, which meant that any changes made to a schematic would be carried through to its respective PCB. This was the main problem that I was looking to solve, and Altium saved me time which would be otherwise spent changing individual part files.
Precise and easy flow design with extremely well organized output production files.
What do you like best about the product?
Well, being a former OrCad user, Altium is much more "accessible" (I use it quite a lot every day):
- items properties can be seen and checked in a very easy way via "Properties" Tab.
- I think the rules settings are more complete and intuitive than other EDAs.
- One of the best features is the possibility to generate Draftsman Documents: they're amazing, extremely well organised and usefull. In addition to output files, creating production output files has never been so easy.
- Customer support is great: many courses to further improve skills are constantly suggested.
Moreover, a very good implementation is the possibility to import OrCAD design files: in this way, there is not the risk to loose files created in the past with the old tool.

What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to test and try the features regarding the integration of Mech CADs, but NX CAD is still missing (this is the CAD my company uses). Is it possible to think to implement it?
I cannot say nothing more by now, since in general my experience is very positive.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
the main benefit is of course being capable of using a company space where PCBs project can be stored and controlled: tracking of modifications is extremely well done, with the possibility to see and check the history of a project.
Of course, also the possibility to address task is very usefull, but maybe more usefull in very big organization (my company is indeed smaller, so we address changes by speaking).
But the deatil on which I want to stress the most is the order: order makes people work properly and make people confortable. Altium 365 best trait is order.

Altium Designer and Altium365 are the best things for collaboration.
What do you like best about the product?
The combination of Altium Designer and Altium 365 allows me and my team to work together a lot more effectivelty during the design stage and also when we are testing the prototypes. Altium365 id specially usefull because you dont need an additional license and the interface is excellent for tracking the traces and components in the circuit.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would be nice to be able to see multi board projects on Altium 365.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Design of complex boards with digital, analog and power circuits all in the same board.
Not usefull for a single user, but great for teamworking.
What do you like best about the product?
Share documentation and Co-designer for 3D integration
What do you dislike about the product?
When working with libraries, upload a DBLib for checking it is slow, and difficult to correct wrong pcomponents, and event impossible to download the corrected library... So it woulñd be fantastic to upload you library, correct it and download it fulfilled.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing documentation in easy way
Complete solution, just a one-stop software.
What do you like best about the product?
The software environment is quite friendly to use, to begin with, I'll suggest going through the PCB designing course from Altium Education. The cloud platform offers the opportunity to collaborate with teams. Hierarchical schematics is a very useful option if you have repeated circuits and I liked this feature. The more you use this software, the better you'll become. Implementation of various features are also very easy. You'll find all generic and company-made components in the library with detailed info, so you don't need to worry about whether you'll find the component in the market or not. The MCAD and ECAD can easily be integrated, very suitable for multi-board PCB design. The customer support helpdesk provides unwavering support to the clients, I remember a detailed solution was given with the reason for the problem and the step-by-step solution from the customer support within 1 day. They have a very detailed documentation support(TechDocs), almost for each and everything, and this also helped us. We use the software frequently to generate electrical system schematics for our ongoing project, making of a Formula Student electric vehicle, and all of our team members are connected in the cloud, satisfied with the software features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Altium serves our purpose and we haven't use all of the features of this software yet, so for now, can't comment on the least useful feature yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Altium Standard PCB designing software to create schematics and PCB for our Formula Student Electric vehicle, and it's working great for us.
