Altium after 7 years
What do you like best about the product?
It's fun to use, and generally all needed features are available and easy to find. I'd recommend it for designs up to 3000-4000 components max.
What do you dislike about the product?
Having to pay for cloud services by keeping subscription current, and some common things that are needed to move components to cloud or back to local libraries are missing. They are possible but in a very convoluted way. After about 4K parts in a design things get really slow even on overclocked super fast computer. The pcb rules manager is not as comprehensive as one would like - it's very simplistic really, however, adequate for many things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's nice to be able to collaborate online through the portal when working with multiple engineers or projects that need to be examined by (especially) remote team members. Routing is fairly easy by hand in Altium. Autorouting is not useful and more of a sales gimmick as it will not work on complex boards.
Don't use anything else but please pay extra.
What do you like best about the product?
Altium 365 makes it really easy to collaborate and work on a design as a team. To be able to share a PCB design and interactively place comments is really a step forward in the workflow in the case where different people work on different parts of the circuit and for reviews.
The built in version control makes it easy to take a step back if an intended improvement did not turn out as planned.

What do you dislike about the product?
Altium promotes using Altium365 in almost all of its beginner level tutorials without showing up the many alternatives that do not require pushing your data to a cloud. This makes it really hard for someone to understand the way most people use Altium as 365 is not so widespread.
If one wants to benefit from a online library one has to pay extra even if a good library management is a very basic feature of a good EDA program.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We collaborate with other firms that review designs that we made and design subsystems for our product on their one. This makes it essential that data is easy to exchange between the two parties and everyone has the latest version at any time.
Altium, although having a steep learning curve, is super useful and efficient as a design software
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to link and update both the drawing, PCB, and the bill of materials at the same time.
What do you dislike about the product?
The somewhat unintuitive nature of some of the tools/options and where to find them

Creating PCBs for small devices, to decrease expenditure costs

What do you like best about the product?
The best thing about Altium designer is the possibility to work togruter as a team on design projects, and the ease it is to share designs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest issue I have had with Altium is the defult pin 1 placement in the bottom left corner instead of upper left corner.

Component management and revision control.

What do you like best about the product?
Altium 365 provides really useful tools for syncing components between engineers. Having managed access to all components through the company is great instead of having to share a library back and forth. Also putting projects on the server helps team collaboration for our formula student team.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside of altium 365 is its integration with MCAD co-designer. Projects must be uploaded to the workspace which can cause the workspace to get cluttered.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium 365 solves my biggest problem of having to pass a component library between the team. Its integration with codesigner helps although co designer can be clunky in some applications.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like version control, I think that it helps my company reviewing old versions of a layout and finding errors to correct. Moreover, working with mechanical cad has made it really easy with the MCad compatibility
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that a lot of errors shoud be considered warnings. I have been working with old libraries in my buissnes (they have been working on electronics since 1995) and I don't have the time to update everything, so a lot of errors pop up all the time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Version control, MCAD compativility was a big problem, active BOM has solver a lot of paperwork. Moreover, lately we have been using simulation lately and the results are looking good

For whatever goal you have, there is a simple way to accomplish it.

I haven't faced any serious downside maybe because I haven't work with other similar tools

Scripting langvage is not easy

In this tool the Ecad and Mcad collabration is good the 3D intergration is best compared to others

Few steps or options while using this tool looks complecated

In Altium the options what we are using is effectively good for our easy work to complete the projects

Colour grading for Silk, Multiple user should be allowed to work on same project like other tools

Mechanicle issue can be resolved easily with 3D View
