Great schematic capture and PCB design software
What do you like best about the product?
Altium is a fantastic tool that has been around forever. The software is intuitive and supports any feature you can think of. Odds are if you want to be able to do something Altium can do, but you don't know how yet.
What do you dislike about the product?
Almost nothing. The learning curve is a little steep but not bad at all. Every once and a while, we will come across a bug, but there is always a way to work around the bug.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
At an electrical aerospace start-up, we need to design many custom PCBs. Altium helps us quickly perform schematic design, PCB layout, and route with convenient library tools.
Great tool for circuit design, analysis, and PCB design
What do you like best about the product?
It is a complete tool to design circuits, perform simulations and analysis, and design PCBs. You can create gerber files for PCB manufacturing. You can also simulate the actual PCB in a 3D model and export it as a CAD file.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing much other than the fact that you require a good machine with a large RAM and fast processor as the application is quite large in size and requires a lot of processing power.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Complete tool for everything starting from circuit design to PCB manufacturing in one go.
versatile and easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
version control, assembly assistant - although it is still a bit buggy and could use some improvements (when assembling ungrouped components, selection sometimes jumps to some random component, and when grouped it is impossible to easily iterrate thorough components in the group).
What do you dislike about the product?
The price for hobyists i.e. high entry price for noncomercial users that serves as a brarier that prevents people from learning and adapting to altium ecosystem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy version control, board asembly tools, easy way to share designs etc.
Altium 364 is great for collaboration!
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how interchangeable parts are. We often find ourselves having to replace a part with an industry alternative. From selecting a new part to implementing the new part into a design, it is incredibly useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
My least favorite thing about altium is that there are "left over" features that are less useful. As a new user I want to focus on only functions that I need to know, not all panels and parts from the previous desings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium allows me to quickly create custom PCB boards to replace bread boards I'm using for my projects. It is not required, it just makes everything so much easier.
Good Schematic/PCB tool
What do you like best about the product?
It is simple to make a schematic and layout in Altium.
In Altium 365, handling components on the server's library is easier. Usage of the same symbol for many RLC components gave needed uniformity.
Short Help videos are good.
Versioning and release comments in 365 improve development process.
Templates in 365 are convenient.

What do you dislike about the product?
If you touch a Variant in a project just to look at the schematic, then your project is "changed", and it is impossible to undo the non-existing change. It is quite disturbing.
Re-Use block functionality is not developed properly.
Making a mistake during the Import from the Schematic to PCB creates future problems. Getting rid of the "imaginary nets or connections" is a challenge.
Cross Probe or Zoom-In on potential changes during the Import to PCB does not normally work for the PCB side.
Strange focus on having the 1st pin of a component at the exact position still affects older projects - the shifts should be corrected manually (after implementing uniform symbols). Otherwise, a physical shift in the schematic as well as variants misalignment forces engineers to spend time on the fixes.
In general, Help is not always fruitful.
It is not obvious where to find a needed feature. Sometimes it is a quest.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creation of components, schematic, layout and output job files for Production cover most needs for radio board design.
Exhorbitant price structure and irritating sales techniques
What do you like best about the product?
I have used Altium Designer from various generations since 1990. It is certainly a fantastic system for designing excellent-looking schematics and PCBs. It is relatively easy to learn. In my opinion, the schematic editor produces schematic diagrams, and even drawings, which are far superior to any of the competition products.
What do you dislike about the product?
Altium is listed on the stock exchange as being an extremely wealthy company. As the product is purely software, the company does not need to invest in an expensive factory and purchase expensive machinery. Just office space and computers. Despite this, the already expensive price keeps going up and up. We have two licenses, and would simply like to purchase an additional license or two for new employees. Altium will not do this, but insist on selling us a complete additional new product for about double or more the price which we originally paid. Not only that, but we will be forced to purchase so-called "Subscriptions" or maintenance contracts for a minimum period of 2 years, although we already have good-functioning software, so we don't want or need this. We get regular phone-calls from an Altium salesman , who keeps bothering various members of our team, and is thoughtless enough to want to talk to our MD, who would be extremely irritated by such an action. We call this the Mafia-method way of doing business.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium Designer is an excellent product used for designing good-looking schematic diagrams and printed circuit boards. It comes with a comprehensive set of libraries, manufacturer's and purchasing links, and a wealth of other production-oriented features. However, the price-difference between Altium and competition products is eye-opening
Designing complex PCBs with endless possibilities
What do you like best about the product?
It gives the user the option to change and adapt every setting to your own user preference. This really shortens the time to develop and design a PCB. It offers the most options and give the most design possibilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some settings are hidden behind specific hotkeys. The beginning is a bit difficult when you only need to design a small project/PCB. I had problems finding the right option that fit me as there are too many different options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designing PCBs for different projects in the automotive field and ToF field. It offered options to filter for specific parts which I would have needed to search for a longer time otherwise.
Great software, especially for professional use
What do you like best about the product?
The Altium Designer comes with a lot of functions. You can view projects / pcbs in your Webbrowsers, which can be of great value if you are on the go and can not access a computer with the Altium designer software.
The close cloud integration makes it easy to work on a project with a group of people and the version control prevents from accidentally messing up a project.
The close cloud integration makes it easy to work on a project with a group of people and the version control prevents from accidentally messing up a project.
What do you dislike about the product?
You need a while to get started, since there are a lot of functions, that can be a bit overwhelming in the beginning.
For hobbyists it might be quite annoying that you have to add all the components you want to use manually.
There are some graphic bugs when using the software on two displays with different resolutions at the same time.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having the possibility to view and place components in the 3D view to check for clearance between components.
You have to create your own component library, which in my case only contains the components that are in stock in our company so I don't have to wait for components to be shipped.

Using Altium Designer for PCB Design and Multi PCB Design with Altium365 Cloud Version Control
What do you like best about the product?
The integration of all the steps needed for a PCB Design in one Software is very productive. The new Altium365 features with GIT Version control is really helpful and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some standard parameters are not so usefull and not so easy to find. Making Design Rules could be more intuitive. Some necessary key short cuts are not always present or easy to keep in mind.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designing PCBs and connecting them with other PCBs or Housings is really easy implemented in Alitum Designer. Checking that the whole Setup for our Accumulator is fitting well, is really beneficciall. Implementing a way to easiely add some wiring would be a great addition.
Altium is a great Software for PCB Design
What do you like best about the product?
The shortcuts and the easy way how easy it can be used. The PCB design is also very easy to realise.
Among other things, the easy handling of the programme also helps.
Among other things, the easy handling of the programme also helps.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is difficult to create components.when opening a PCB, the zoom is sometimes in the bottom left corner. I do not notice any other negative points, except for the ones mentioned above.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium is very good for small prototypes. For example, creating a utility is very easy. It saves a lot of time and therefore solves the problems of meeting deadlines.
