Well thought-out development tool
What do you like best about the product?
Valispace provides an integrated approach to the modelling of a product's components and architecture in relation to the requirements. This allows for a high degree of traceability, and therefore efficient product development.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although the concept is far ahead of the competition, the tool could be improved in terms of lifecycle and maturity management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Valispace bridges the gap between the abstract concept of requirements to the tangible product structure, and combines it with a well-structured testing approach. A fully integrated development tool!
User friendly and power systems engineering and architecting tool, but still in development
What do you like best about the product?
component view with alternative containers, trade study, tolerance on properties is extremely powerful and scalable for single products and product lines
reports tool produces consistent outputs and is always tied to single source of truth
user interface is incomparable with other systems engineering tools
analysis tool is theoretically very powerful when linked with sigle source of truth

What do you dislike about the product?
calculations get bogged down with complex component structures
the software is still young, which results in some inconsistent results or unknown validity
more direct support for product line variability control would be appreciated

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
valispace let's us track a technical baseline of our product line configurations, referring to a common core library of components
single source of truth ensures consistency across all variants / configurations
using alternative containers, we can readily create new configurations for bid/proposal responses, also tied to the product line components but with customer-specific needs

Lean requirements management with potential for leaner MBSE
What do you like best about the product?
Interface and user friendliness, intuitiveness. Flexibility in creating different treees as sought and adding all sorts of different attributes / types etc.
Easy addition of new members
Easy addition of new members
What do you dislike about the product?
You loose track of the parameters in your database and the link between them. Hard to verify just by graphical information. Same for verifications and validations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaborative single source of thruth for requirements. Easy extraction into documents for delivery and easy updates of documents. We are getting there in using it also for engineering parameters and engineering budgets.
Best part is the API
What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Valispace is the Open and well documented API!
We track all our Requirements with Valispace. The GUI is pretty good and improving everytime. However some things are a little difficult to do in a GUI at all (Like Batch processing many Requirements, Synchronizing Valispace with exel sheets or checking Requirements for coustom conditions: e.g. List all Requirements that still mis a children, or only have a spesific set of other requirements as children etc.) In such cases, the Open API and Python Library allow to write a custom Script to do whatever you like.
I also like that Valispace is "Alive" so you see constant progress and Featuer updates.

What do you dislike about the product?
Somtimes the GUI is a little bit slow, However ther is allways progress and the performance is increasing!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keep Track of all our requirements.
Very good
What do you like best about the product?
Very nice user interface; easy to use; very good support from the experts
What do you dislike about the product?
Admin console is trash; no app for ipads or phones; sometimes very slow
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Valispace grants us the experience for attribute management, so we don´t forget to implement somethings
Not much experience gained
What do you like best about the product?
Mass calculations component wise helps to keep track of total mass
What do you dislike about the product?
maybe interface can be made more user friendly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mass calculation and budget
Experience Using Valispace
What do you like best about the product?
One of the best things is that you can make changes and see how they affect the rest of the design, assuming Valispace is set up correctly, in real time. I also am a fan of the requirements history view, allowing us to see how requirements have changed over time and who changed them.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool itself feels very rigid and not super customizable. Some aspects, such as budgets, that the tool claims to be able to do are not as simple as they should be, for example there is no such thing as nested mode lists. Additionally, there are some basic systems engineering tools, such as reliability analysis, which would fit really well into the tool. The connections view, either between requirements or components, is also very difficult to use and does not provide nearly as much value as something like that could be. Finally, there is no great way to do functional diagrams that we have found in Valispace, which are super necessary for MBSE, which is one of the things we are trying to do with Valispace.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's main purpose for us is a requirements management tool. Before Valisapce we were tracking our requirements in Excel, which is generally a worse tool for viewing requirements history and tracking what is going on with the design
Using Valispace as prime MBSE software for a small company in the space sector
What do you like best about the product?
Valispace offers tremendous "concurrent engineering" capacities, it allows several engineers from several technical domains to work on a common "system model" (both actual engineering model and the requirement aspects linked). It is lightweight and easy to use but still rather complete. It's also very easy to integrate with other tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Valispace is a young company, and it looks the software hasn't been through a lot of usage with very large datasets or specific, custom, use cases.
Therefore bugs are often found. Some of these can seriously diminish the user experience and cause delays in specific taks (i.e, requirement reviews, some specific calculations...)
However, I'm confident they will manage to scale up their software. If you're a small-ish company or a startup and use Valispace in the exact way it is designed, these bugs won't alter your experience

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Valispace solves problems related to the dispersion of documentation : for instance using a lot of Excel files to store budgets, mode definitons, or a lot of pdf and word files to manage requirements. It allows Engineers to works relatively seamlessly, concurrently, on requirements and system data without requiring tedious install. You'll still need trainings and process but way less than alternative solutions.
Lightweight and Modern Requirements Management and Systems Modeling Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Valispace has a nice REST API that allows us to store information using their web browser UI, but then enable our simulation software developers to automatically run analyses and keep aligned. We can also ensure our requirements are aligned automatically with vehicle parameters.
What do you dislike about the product?
Valispace's UI is sometimes clunky, but is constantly improving. There are some pains using a web browser based tool in general, but these are often outweighed by the benefits of allowing everyone to see relevant info.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Valispace helps us maintain a single source of truth for requirements and a high level model of our spacecraft. We are able to quickly transition from showing key requirements tracking to management and using the same defined parameters to run automated analyses.
Innovative features, good engagement, but lacking core features & we struggled with adoption.
What do you like best about the product?
Your engagement with us. The valis. Simple and flexible interface. Quick to load, create content and make changes. Openness to integrating with other tools. It is helping us get started.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacks the governance control, configuration and change control features we need for formal development in a highly regulated industry. We would like to store other types of information in the tool and create different types of relationship/link between them, for example functional models, failure models and their related requirements - the MBSE-textual requirements link features are limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing us to quickly get started with requirements and key design parameters. Allowing us to iterate quickly. Creating a single source of truth, visible to all, outside of spreadsheets.
