    Aviation & Aerospace

Experience Using Valispace

  • January 12, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the best things is that you can make changes and see how they affect the rest of the design, assuming Valispace is set up correctly, in real time. I also am a fan of the requirements history view, allowing us to see how requirements have changed over time and who changed them.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool itself feels very rigid and not super customizable. Some aspects, such as budgets, that the tool claims to be able to do are not as simple as they should be, for example there is no such thing as nested mode lists. Additionally, there are some basic systems engineering tools, such as reliability analysis, which would fit really well into the tool. The connections view, either between requirements or components, is also very difficult to use and does not provide nearly as much value as something like that could be. Finally, there is no great way to do functional diagrams that we have found in Valispace, which are super necessary for MBSE, which is one of the things we are trying to do with Valispace.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's main purpose for us is a requirements management tool. Before Valisapce we were tracking our requirements in Excel, which is generally a worse tool for viewing requirements history and tracking what is going on with the design

Using Valispace as prime MBSE software for a small company in the space sector

  • January 12, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Valispace offers tremendous "concurrent engineering" capacities, it allows several engineers from several technical domains to work on a common "system model" (both actual engineering model and the requirement aspects linked). It is lightweight and easy to use but still rather complete. It's also very easy to integrate with other tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
Valispace is a young company, and it looks the software hasn't been through a lot of usage with very large datasets or specific, custom, use cases.
Therefore bugs are often found. Some of these can seriously diminish the user experience and cause delays in specific taks (i.e, requirement reviews, some specific calculations...)
However, I'm confident they will manage to scale up their software. If you're a small-ish company or a startup and use Valispace in the exact way it is designed, these bugs won't alter your experience
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Valispace solves problems related to the dispersion of documentation : for instance using a lot of Excel files to store budgets, mode definitons, or a lot of pdf and word files to manage requirements. It allows Engineers to works relatively seamlessly, concurrently, on requirements and system data without requiring tedious install. You'll still need trainings and process but way less than alternative solutions.

Lightweight and Modern Requirements Management and Systems Modeling Tool

  • January 12, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Valispace has a nice REST API that allows us to store information using their web browser UI, but then enable our simulation software developers to automatically run analyses and keep aligned. We can also ensure our requirements are aligned automatically with vehicle parameters.
What do you dislike about the product?
Valispace's UI is sometimes clunky, but is constantly improving. There are some pains using a web browser based tool in general, but these are often outweighed by the benefits of allowing everyone to see relevant info.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Valispace helps us maintain a single source of truth for requirements and a high level model of our spacecraft. We are able to quickly transition from showing key requirements tracking to management and using the same defined parameters to run automated analyses.

    Aviation & Aerospace

Innovative features, good engagement, but lacking core features & we struggled with adoption.

  • January 12, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Your engagement with us. The valis. Simple and flexible interface. Quick to load, create content and make changes. Openness to integrating with other tools. It is helping us get started.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacks the governance control, configuration and change control features we need for formal development in a highly regulated industry. We would like to store other types of information in the tool and create different types of relationship/link between them, for example functional models, failure models and their related requirements - the MBSE-textual requirements link features are limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing us to quickly get started with requirements and key design parameters. Allowing us to iterate quickly. Creating a single source of truth, visible to all, outside of spreadsheets.

What do you dislike about the product?
The server license is sometimes disconnecting, and all unsaved work get lost
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick turnaround time in designing Electronics assembly with 360 degrees collaboration with the MCAD tools and Contract manufacturers and consultants ( reviewers)

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to use. Building component footprint is no brainer. It's much better than other CAD tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
None. Altium has done a s good job with the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Designing a board is quicker, and faster. Altium provides excellent tutorials.

    Oil & Energy

Easy to use with a lot of functionality

  • January 11, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Web based and easy to use. Able to view requirements in different contexts
What do you dislike about the product?
Still has some odd bugs here and there. Some inconsistence in user interface.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us manage and allocate requirements more efficiently. Being able to track the number of requirements and verification status is extremely useful.

    Mechanical or Industrial Engineering

Integrate MCAD and ECAD very well

  • January 11, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Integration of MCAD and ECAD, meaning that collbrative work between eletrical and mechanical deparments very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
Bit difficult to wrap head round the entire system at first and how it all integrates/works together collabratively.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better than PADS

    Railroad Manufacture

Lack of clarity, creating components is cumbersome

  • January 11, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The scope is nice, a lot of functionalities combined in one tool
What do you dislike about the product?
Valispace is very confusing and the familiarization with the tool is not intuitive. The available Youtube tutorials are good for marketing, but you don't learn how to actually use the tool.
The creation/editing of tools is so complicated that we decided not to use the tool for this part anymore.
The Valispace administration is really not clear. Just creating a new user takes a lot of time, because it is not intuitive at all.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Valispace to suWe collect all the requirements for our system in Valispace. From technical requirements to normative requirements for approval. However, no one at our company really knows how we then deal with these requirements. Here, too, there is a lack of clarity

    Aviation & Aerospace

One source of truth for your system

  • January 11, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. customer support is outstanding!
2.very easy to use!!
3. all the requirements and system specs are in one place.
4. ability to export the data into documents easily, for example creating a verification control document.
5. ability to manage V&V and verify from within the system.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. Not supporting teams working on multiple deployments and deployment types.
2. The verification assignment view should support populating the text field of each verification method per requirement.
4. The ability to tie a verification of a requirement to an event of the project, for example Req#114: verified by test at CDR.
5. Training tutorials should be updated ASAP to represent the new interface of Valispace.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having one place to store all product requirements guarantees configuration management and eliminates the need to work with spreadsheets, keep versions etc. The ability to mange tests and verify requirements directly from within the system ensures nothing is missed.
