Useful features, Some issues
What do you like best about the product?
Version control and shared projects in a single place work great for a collaborative environment, and having a controlled library is a must for anything beyond basic projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Importing Library components from Altium Content Library removes most parameters, and the tools that allow multiple people to work on the same file together can be vague about what changes are or aren't applied. Main editing personnel changes override local file edits if not accepted by them in a merge. Layers can't be edited separately, instead putting changes in specific blocks of design space.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest thing is that using Altium 365 has saved us the trouble of needing to create our own server, version control, and library, and maintain all of the hardware and software necessary to run that.
Easy Component Management and Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
Easy sharing of designs with coworkers. Intuitive user interface on components library.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a newer PCB designer, it would helpful to have more Altium learning resources for manufacturing related questions: PCB materials, stackup, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They're solving the issue of integrating a multi-functional team on an electrical design well. They're also solving the issue of providing an easily accessible online location for field representatives to access design information for customer support.
In the research phase but altium has shown great promise.
What do you like best about the product?
Altium is great at being the truth source for design.
What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot think of any dislikes with altium.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium is solving the problem of having multiple places where designs are stored.
Excellent Cloud Service
What do you like best about the product?
I can update and change multiple components at a time, my library health is up-to-date and shows me obsolescence warnings in active bom.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like that they do not send notifications when a library component has gone obsolete.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is solving organization and efficiency problems. Sharing projects, updating components, multiple users can view the same thing at once are all benefits.
Altium 365 makes much things easier like library, components, obsolescense and sharing projects.
What do you like best about the product?
library management and checking obsolescense.
What do you dislike about the product?
Everythings fine, nothing to worry about at the moment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I can have all projects in one place and check if there is a part obsolete and check in which projects it is used. This saves a lot of time for me.
Very streamlined experience, intuitive flow with well-structured collaboration features
What do you like best about the product?
Reviewing tools, centralized repository, web client with notes and comments, easy BOM management (good for simple projects, less for complicated deployments), guest user support
What do you dislike about the product?
BOM is not ActiveBOM 1:1 synced, missing vendor lookup from the web interface, missing multiple GIT remotes (this feature is a must for road workers with unstable connections), guests cannot clone projects
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Having multiple figures in our production pipeline (designers, DFM operators, MFG/CEM, procurement and even end users) allows quicker feedback up to the engineers in case of any issue. Even the normal workflow is much easier to be processed as artifacts are available in the resources and people can know when and by who any modification has been carried out.
Great for large teams
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to let everyone across the organization view designs and history without having to install Altium is fantastic. Works well for Technicians who just need to find components on the board or look at old versions without having to install anything or from lab machines. Also really useful for collaborating with procurement, who can browse the component library in a similar fashion. Version control and collaboration features (comments etc) work great with a large team.
What do you dislike about the product?
Currently no way to set share settings for an entire folder. If you want to give a group of users access to all the designs in a folder it has to be done manually. This is a bit of a pain when changing access rights for large projects - hopefully this is addressed in the future.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping us get greater consistency amongst designs, and collaborate and share date better with other teams outside of engineering, particularly over different board revisions. Very useful when supporting projects over a long lifetime.
Altium 365 experience
What do you like best about the product?
A365 allows our team to work collaboratively. We are very happy with the way we can view schematics and layouts in a structured manner, but the best for our team is most likely the online integrated library features. This allows us to build, review and manage parts together.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've been using Altium 365 since it was publicly available. It has grown a lot since then, but it's still a relatively new tool. While they continuously add new features, this also means we need to keep adapting to changes in the interface and experiencing new issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
With Altium 36 we were able to improve our workflow with other teams. It's very easy for our industrial designers or software engineers to see what the hardware engineer have built or what they need to take into account with their work.
PCB Design Tool-Simple to Use
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to Design PCB'S. Product Management
What do you dislike about the product?
Not For Very Complex Designs- Signal Integrity and Layer Stack up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Regular PCB Designs for various requirements, Product Data Management, Rapid Prototyping, Mech Designs
Great for collaboration and managing design information
What do you like best about the product?
Revision control, file/project history features are great and very useful. The ability to do design reviews and comment directly on schematics and pcb files is a great feature. No license required for read-only access to projects. Easy to share design files and manufacturing outputs with stakeholders and vendors.
What do you dislike about the product?
Every software system has bugs and Altium products are no different. We cant completely use A365 for design reviews because we cannot comment on files (pdf BOM, ODB++ files, pick & place files, etc) generated by Outjob files. The software has come a long way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing designs is easy. Collaboration with stakeholders has improved.
