Altium Review
What do you like best about the product?
It's a very powerful tool and the online help section is detailed and well organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, features are too complicated to figure out how to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's simply a great PCB design tool.
Altium Designer is a great software for students, hardware engineers and makers.
What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Altium Designer is the integrated Manufacturer Component Search Engine because it allows you to choose components based on price and availability during schematic drawing.
What do you dislike about the product?
Altium is a very in-depth PCB design software, which makes it have a steep learning curve. This is already countered by Altium because they share many free training videos on their platforms. Also, Altium has become a very popular software, which makes the learning process easier, but Altium continues to be very hard to master.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was trying to route differential pairs with matched impedance/length. Altium has a tool that allows you to do that in a very customizable way, leaving no margin for error once you know what you are doing.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the libraries available and the flexibility of keeping my own custom footprints and symbols across different projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found it complicated at first and a little overwhelming, but I learned how it worked using their free courses online.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium is helping me with learning electronics because I can design and analyze more complex systems productively and efficiently.
A PCB design tool that can improve the communication stream between several HW designers.
What do you like best about the product?
So many features, and a good interface to communicate between other designers, external consultants, manufacturers, and component suppliers. Lots of available info on youtube.
What do you dislike about the product?
A plethora of features that either you do not need or you ignore. They provide training but it costs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It improves communication with my team.
Altium has been a great tool for PCB design
What do you like best about the product?
Integration with component libraries and being able to check availability while doing schematic capture has been incredibly useful. The routing utilities (both automatic and manual) are incredibly powerful as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it has issues loading large projects and needs restarts. It also has some clunky keybindings (which can be fixed, but is just an annoyance). The learning curve is pretty steep, but that's just part of using an enterprise tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium allows us to do PCB design for our solar-powered electric racing vehicle. Most of our boards have a lot of boilerplate components, and Altium allows us to re-use those blocks and save tons of time with new designs.
Most advanced designing and user friendly tool
What do you like best about the product?
The software is pretty user-friendly and very advanced.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price is pretty high and is not so popular in the electronics manufacturing business.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is easy to convert other designing software files to the Altium format, and the feature of Active BOM saves a lot of time.
Easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
Auto routing in altium needs very little modification and succeed to route most of the time
What do you dislike about the product?
In double layer auto route cannot be modified to prioritize bottom layer it treats the two layer as if they were the same

It's giving you user friendly interface to design your pcb schematic and footprint with high quality
Useful features, Some issues
What do you like best about the product?
Version control and shared projects in a single place work great for a collaborative environment, and having a controlled library is a must for anything beyond basic projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Importing Library components from Altium Content Library removes most parameters, and the tools that allow multiple people to work on the same file together can be vague about what changes are or aren't applied. Main editing personnel changes override local file edits if not accepted by them in a merge. Layers can't be edited separately, instead putting changes in specific blocks of design space.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest thing is that using Altium 365 has saved us the trouble of needing to create our own server, version control, and library, and maintain all of the hardware and software necessary to run that.
Easy Component Management and Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
Easy sharing of designs with coworkers. Intuitive user interface on components library.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a newer PCB designer, it would helpful to have more Altium learning resources for manufacturing related questions: PCB materials, stackup, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They're solving the issue of integrating a multi-functional team on an electrical design well. They're also solving the issue of providing an easily accessible online location for field representatives to access design information for customer support.
In the research phase but altium has shown great promise.
What do you like best about the product?
Altium is great at being the truth source for design.
What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot think of any dislikes with altium.

Altium is solving the problem of having multiple places where designs are stored.
