Suitable for every project
What do you like best about the product?
That it is easy to use and has a feature for every option I wanted to use. The interface is very user-friendly and has a lot of options and rules you want to set. Also with Altium 365's portability it is now a very good experience. The support is always available and very helpful. They solved my problem every time.
What do you dislike about the product?
That it is sometimes can be very laggy, and if you use it on a smaller resolution monitor you can't hide every window good enough to work easily. Altium 365 is a bit slow, and you always have to save manually. It really sets back your work if you are working on one computer and start working later on another one. Maybe it should support real-time or at least automatic cloud save for more portability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I designed a telemetry PCB for a Formula Racing car and it was really good to have a good 3D view so I can cut the PCB in a good way and place the holes for the screws on the best place for its container.
Altium Designer provides a very well built user interface for PCB design.
What do you like best about the product?
The best feature of Altium Designer is the Cross Probe function which helps manual assembly by highlighting specific parts.
What do you dislike about the product?
The snapping feature on PCB is sometimes a bit dodgy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I mostly design 2 layer boards with custom shapes that should fit in closed cases. The possibility of importing sketches for PCB geometry and 3D STEP import functions is a great advantage in these conditions.
The best software to design PCBs
What do you like best about the product?
The easy way to design, the tools that it has to make easier the factory of the PCB.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price it's a little bit higher, it cool be a lower price to start ups or students.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The beast way to put the componentes, the 3D view helps whit it.
I believe Altium is a very powerful tool for all aspects of the design process.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the capabilities of the PCB design.
What do you dislike about the product?
I still need to try to learn SPICE language in order to try to simulate circuits or PCB. I wish this could be made a bit more user friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are working on EMC and testing related issues with the PCB, Altium allows us to define rules with our lessons learned.
Best PCB Integration
What do you like best about the product?
Sharing projects between company members, comments, MCAD coDesign is also a very interesting tool. I also liked the possibility of generating files directly from the web such as schematics and 3d step files.
What do you dislike about the product?
Component library management still needs some improvements I believe. Changes to component batch parameters should be a possibility using Altium 365, to create some component parameter that can be updated through a web environment for example. But overall the tool is great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The group members are still getting used to it but the messaging system in the projects is speeding up the corrections that need to be made during schematic capture and PCB verification.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is an essential tool for anyone looking to integrate the development team.
Pauls review 20/5/2022
What do you like best about the product?
I can do almost anything I want. It is effective in designing PCBs. The interaction between Schematic and PCB is essential. Reasonable ability to render and do 3D work.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. We are using cloud based library. When internet goes down - Altium locks up to the extend that I can not even vary my licence to make it float.
2. Very tedious to edit components in a library. Imported footprints don't have a meaningfull name. cant see the footprint when choosing it. doesn't update immediately when clicking on things. very clunky and very time consuming and sometimes I don't even know how to change a thing. For example very difficult to get to the footprint parameters. Many things not working well in that library.
3. the stackup manager does not always match real world pp and core materials. It should be possible to create your own.
4. Generating rules is more difficult than it should be. especially when you want to define strange rules - like creepage in mid layers. can be done but tricky.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making PCBs. Ability to make PCBs. Ability to implement creepage and clearance rules independently. Ability to define variants. Ability to produce Gerber files that manufacturers understand.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It does the job. You can do most of what you want to do.
There is convenience to being able to access Altium from any PC by simply logging into one account.
What do you like best about the product?
global access from any PC, by simply being a ble to log in from anywhere.
What do you dislike about the product?
collaboration can sometimes not work.. when a collegue has a file open at the same time as me, conflicts arrise that arn't always easy to resolve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
it's helping me to be able to get my work done at home if required as well as help me use what ever PC is available to do my work. I like that.

Simply the best ecad software!
What do you like best about the product?
Everything you want, everything you need, you can find in Altium. The wizards, the spice, all the conigurations is too easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
After all, the software is a little expensive. Someone starting a new career as a freelancer can't afford.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using a student license, and my graduation projects have improved a lot
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I learned it by myself, only watching youtube tutorials and searching for my doubts in the Altium website. It's a complete software and it's easy.
UI/UX of Altium has no peers

Schematic and PCB Layout efficiency. Hot keys are excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Output file generation is cumbersome and buggy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time to go from concept to functional PCB in hand is king. Efficient editing features in Schematic and PCB layout are easy to use and intuitive.
