Easiest to use software for PCB development
What do you like best about the product?
All functions are easy to find and use. The interface is self-explanatory, and schematics are easy to navigate. This is the most complete and useful ECAD program I have used up to now. The program is used every day, either for reference or for design.
What do you dislike about the product?
Altium has limited support for drawing PCB outlines without the use of external formats like DXF.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Altium has enhanced the development of electronics at the company. The fluid work environment speeds up PCB design.
It performs great! I love the ability to import footprints. It is an industry standard software
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to import footprints for the parts that I use most. Also being able to check the part availability straight from Altium is a big plus. I have used this software for work and it has a great workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see even more footprints and possibly an easier way to make your own footprint symbols.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving problems of PCB design of switching regulator. I currently use the product for personal use on academic projects. But have used it in industry where it sped up time to market on board development.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I have tried many PCB design tools like Eagle, KiCad, DesignSpark PCB, Cadence... This seems to be the best one out there in terms of ease of use.
Great ECAD software
What do you like best about the product?
Very reliable software, I'm really impressed with how it has been updated year after year with great new features every time. Its live data capability for market parts and providers makes it easy to work on projects that require constant changes and updates due to the current shortage of electronic parts.
What do you dislike about the product?
For hobbyists and personal use is a very expensive solution. I would really love to have a monthly subscription to pay and use it only when I need to build or modify my projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation and project outputs are much more organized since using this software. Their version control features are reliable and easy to set up. We have improved our design times by a lot.
The only tool that for real solves actual data management problems with PCB design.
What do you like best about the product?
It is a total solution a the only tool worth mentioning that has solved other tools poor documentation, colaboration, project and library management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much. Only the occasional mainteneance that are during weekends which the Altium Designer isn't really gracefully handles.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project data manegment. Colaboration with customers and manufacturers. Library management and component creation. The later is now only minutes instead of hours.
Altium Designer - Best PCB Design Software
What do you like best about the product?
Altium has the most flexibility and customization possible, allowing the designer to build anything from a simple board to a highly complex design. The interface is easy to use and intuitive. The 3D modeling makes it extremely easy to work with mechanical engineers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the more advanced features can be buried in many submenus.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Interfacing with our mechanical team has been the biggest help.
it is easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
The sync function are good to chack schematic and PCB layout.
What do you dislike about the product?
Import Allegro PCB layout file and GERBER file is not wasy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
it is easier to show the 3D model
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a pretty convenient design tool compared with others tools
Bobs review
What do you like best about the product?
I like features and capabilities of software
What do you dislike about the product?
Very complex, not intuitive in most cases
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using currently in order to document and create cable wiring diagrams that would be difficult to create using other tools at my disposal
Above Perfect Software for our Design Team
What do you like best about the product?
I like the in-built predictions and simplicity of the software. Designing layouts and routing is as simple as it can get.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a lesrning curve at first, especially to understand schematics libraries, but it turns out to be really simple.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are designing a to z boards for our formula electric racing car. We are also teaching new members on how to use Altium and the basics of circuit analysis.
Easy to use, intuitive, and good for simple and complex designs.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the PCB routing tools: very easy to prepare layer stackup, how to setup the rules (controlled impedances, distances, ...) and the user interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
I prefer the sentence "compile PCB project XXX" that was shown in the previous version than the actual "validate PCB Project XXX".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I develop hardware designs for different clients (Spain, Andorra, France, Chile, ...), and I use Altium Designer to create schemes and PCB layouts. I like the 3D export tool that helps a lot when working with a mechanical team and allows to preview mechanical interferences. It's the tool for hardware design.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely, I made the right choice when 3 or 4 years ago, I decided to invest in the Altium Designer tool. It's a straightforward tool with potent tools or components (PDN Analyzer, Simulations, ...) that helps you deliver very professional projects.
There are many helping resources and courses on the net, and there's complete documentation and webinars at Altium's site.
It has a friendly interface, and I like the possibility of using the SVN to backup your designs.
