Easy to learn, great performance
What do you like best about the product?
The interface is very clear and I like the simplicity of each menu
What do you dislike about the product?
Maybe the import and export options are quite limited and some of them required many changes
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the most important benefit is that the schematics and the layout are perfectly synchronize and it provides many output options, such as topographics, BOM, etc.
Altium
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use for schematic capture and PCB startup.
What do you dislike about the product?
The amout of depth of training needed to become useful as layout tool on your own. Then the relearning of things when an update comes out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
power consumption and current trace capability.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get it. Use it. learn it. Enjoy it.
Integration of all PCBA and Mechanical Processes
What do you like best about the product?
Tie integration between schematic capture, PBC layout, and component list has accelerated the time from design to PCBA assembly. The close links to Solidworks provides 3D modeling allowing mechanical fit reducing the number of iterations required. The documentation features have simplified producing the documentation package for manufacturing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The simulation package is difficult to use and is not as current as stand alone electronic simulation packages. It is not intuitive and has a long learning curve. Updates to the Altium Designer package does not always integrate cleanly to prior versions. This creates the need for annual training to fully utilize the new version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used the package for embedded and high voltage design.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you goal is to integrate the package into a multi discipline development environment utilize third party experts to customize the package to your development process.
Effective too in designing neat diagrams and pcb layout
What do you like best about the product?
i like how easy it is to add custom components as well as modular approach on design per sheet. The tools are also easy to use. The 3d view of the PCB also helped greatly in visualizing the output and presenting to executives
What do you dislike about the product?
the only thing i could wish for more is faster startup time
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was able to design smart telemetry units with altium designer. The main benefit is that each design section can be easily separated by sheets for ease of reading them while also keeping them connected in a neat way
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly recommend to try it out, just the free trial version will be enough to persuade you into using it. The first time i tried it was just the viewer to review the design created by an overseas engineer using altium, it was right then that i realized that it is way better than what we were using at that time.
Really good professional tool
What do you like best about the product?
Multiple short cut keys and multiple options
Great User Interface
Great User Interface
What do you dislike about the product?
The software is a little expensive. It should be a little cheaper for at-least research purposes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
circuit and PCB layout designing
Circuit routing.
Circuit routing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Should define and learn all shortcut for different functionality to easily use the the software.
The best tools for diy project to large business development
What do you like best about the product?
It's like to be swiss knifee army on pcb and electronic designing and developing, much of community resource, proved industry level blueprinting. You'll be on higher degree than other similiar tools. It's becomes standart requirement to become electrical engineers
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not designed for beginner user, need sometimes to understand to know how powerful it is.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I realized that if you use altium, you can easily transfer to any kind needed to others, easy gerber generated, easy to analyze and become analyzing tools, internasional standar for blueprinting. Our design more accepted on multi degree industry and manufacture. It
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For you that want more degree and high level on electrical industry, i recommendated to use altium as a tools and framework.
Altium Designer
What do you like best about the product?
The Altium Designer is a very good tool for PCB designing. It's very easy to use and the best PCB design tool for beginners. The shortcuts are easy to learn and the auto-routing option is one of the best in this type of software, which optimizes the PCB area and gives proper routing which can further be manually corrected if required.
What do you dislike about the product?
The color combination uses for the tracks and layers should be provided optional, so that one can change the color combination as per his requirement. Sometimes the software fails to auto-route the tracks and thus hangs the software, which creates a lot of problems for the designer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I basically design PCB on this software, and mostly one-sided and two-sided PCB's. This is one of the easiest PCB design software available and beginners can have a hands-on experience on this software in a quick time, as I had.
Electrical Engineer
What do you like best about the product?
As an electrical Engineer, me, highly recommending the Altium Design for all Engineers ( Espacially Electrical & Electronics Engineers. ) It's quite easy to prepare all of the PCB designs.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit complicated to find the comments. Also changing the system takes time. Sometimes loading the projects takes time so. ,
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
PCB designs espacially. As and electrical engineer, me, designing the PCB and electrical equipments for our company for the Microincinerator devices also I'm working as an Electrical Engineer in a German Comapny. We are designing the systems for maximum power point tracking systems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Design should be a bit easier than now. I think the Main screen so complex.
All you could wish for in one tool.
What do you like best about the product?
Altium Designer allows me to perform the complete system design workflow within a single software solution. Starting with circuit analysis using builtin features and 3rd party plug-ins. Continuing with a 3-Dimensional preview of the final PCB, fitting the PCB in a 3D modeled case or adding daughter boards to the preview. Lets not forget all the features Altium Designer has built-in for high speed signaling. So said task can be as little of annoyance as designing a schematic symbol.
What do you dislike about the product?
Altium Designer is very feature rich, with many new features to come in every major release. That being said, sometimes this can be a bit of annoyance, especially when you need a new feature from a release to improve the workflow, but accounting does not recognize its value. Even-though it would decrease the time to market.
Sometimes I'd wish that Altium would provide a license that could be used with the current software release and the one from the year before.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
AD has allowed me to improve upon my RF and high speed mixed signal designs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Altium Designer may appear to have a steep learning curve at the beginning and because of its feature-richness it takes a while to get used to it. So just stick with it and keep learning.
The best available tool for PCB design.
What do you like best about the product?
I love the feature of making changes in schematics, footprints, PCB and update the other documents of the project. Also, change parameters like position (X,Y) using an excel type datasheet.
Saves time when you have several and similar parts. Signal1, Signal2.. output1,output2.. you could create a box in the schematic and PCB to create similar boxes keeping geometry and tracks and change automatically the inputs and outputs of each box.
The rules for routing are very useful.
The autorouter is definitely the best tool I like the most.

What do you dislike about the product?
The way of organizing a project directory. When a Gerber or other output file is generated, the destination path is not clearly showed.
I would like to change the shape of the PCB using parameters too. For example.. typing the X,Y coordinates and not only the option to draw with the mouse or cursor.
Sometimes the Altium Designer application crashed with no aparent reason. The changes was not written on disk.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saves a lot of time. There a lot of footprints, models available. Changes made in the schematic, PCB and footprints are updated efficiently through the entire project.
I can easily indicate the position of several components in the datasheet of parameters. So, I can export from other documents the exact position of them.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is the best tool available for PCB designer.
