Layered email defense has reduced phishing incidents and protects daily business communications

What is our primary use case?

Our main use case for Barracuda Email Protection is as a mid-size company running Microsoft 365, and we want one platform to handle phishing, business email compromise, malicious attachments, links, post-delivery cleanup, outbound data protection, and email resilience during an outage. Barracuda Email Protection is built exactly for this kind of layered email security workflow with gateway filtering, also providing our company with API-based inboxing defense, automation remediation, and many excellent features.

A specific example of how we use Barracuda Email Protection in our daily workflow is that we used it to stop most spam and phishing emails that arrived to the CFO. We have many domains working and sending us payments, and we experience phishing and spear-phishing attacks. We have many competitors, and we are targeted by these competitors. We have a lot of attacks, so we rely on Barracuda Email Protection to stop these attacks and protect our business continuity on email systems.

What is most valuable?

The best features Barracuda Email Protection offers include its ability to stop and identify impersonations and business email compromise protection. This is one of the features.

The second feature I find valuable is the advanced threat protection module, which includes attachment scanning and is very good on this product.

Regarding the features, we have a reporting module that is very good, and we also have an incident response and automatic remediation feature. This is powerful, and I think this is the most beneficial on Barracuda Email Protection.

Barracuda Email Protection has positively impacted our organization because we rely on it to stop spear-phishing and phishing overall, enabling us to conduct our business securely. We are safe from attackers on email systems, allowing us to conduct our business safely. I see that Barracuda Email Protection has great and capable features we can rely on.

We have seen specific outcomes since using Barracuda Email Protection, such as a reduction in phishing incidents by 20 percent. We are also maintaining our business, which enables us to receive normal emails without any delays while integrating well with our existing Microsoft Office 365. Additionally, Barracuda Email Protection supports many compliance options, helping us run and meet compliance requirements.

What needs improvement?

Barracuda Email Protection can be improved by providing more reporting features for incident management. This will be very beneficial for us.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Barracuda Email Protection's stability is good, with no lagging, no crashes, and no errors. It is very good in this regard.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have only run Barracuda Email Protection on mid-size mailboxes, and we have not tested its scalability yet.

How are customer service and support?

The support for Barracuda Email Protection is very good, and the integration is also very good. The customer support for Barracuda Email Protection is very professional.

What was our ROI?

We see a return on investment from using Barracuda Email Protection because we are stopping attacks and running our business smoothly.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding pricing, setup cost, and licensing, I have not seen any higher costs. I find that Barracuda Email Protection has a very good licensing model, providing capable features at a very good and affordable price.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Before choosing Barracuda Email Protection, I did not evaluate other options.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Barracuda Email Protection a 10 out of 10. I give it a 10 because I think it is the most suitable product for Office 365 and has capable features to stop phishing attacks and maintain business operations. My advice to others considering Barracuda Email Protection is that before you run it, you should first identify that you already have Microsoft 365 to protect and have mailboxes. Do not use an email gateway from Barracuda Email Protection because it has many modules. Barracuda Email Protection is a good fit with Office 365. I rate this product a 10 overall.

Barracuda Impersonation Protection Feels Like a Force Field for Our Organization

What do you like best about the product?
Barcuda's Impersonantion Protection is a like a force field surrounding your organization that protects it from bad actors. If you are an old Star Trek fan you know was a force field is!
What do you dislike about the product?
This probably catches 85% of the bad email. I wish thia was ahigher, but honestly I do not know if that is actually achieavable becuass of the complexity of the threats, including AI infusion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps IT focus on other things becuase Baracuda's Impersonation Protection does a great job blocking day-to-day threats.

What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Barracuda Impersonation for 6 months, and the at-a-glance visibility it gives us into the state of our user's accounts is invaluable. Already it has stopped several account take over attempts, by alerting us when an account was being accessed from outside the country or when rules were being created for an account. The easy to use step-by-step account review has helped us verify nothing malicious has gone out of our user's accounts, and clamp down immediately when an alert goes off.
We were able to set it up in 15 minutes and were up and running checking all our user's connectivity for the past month on the same day. Connecting it to M365 was a breeze, and it uses robust connection APIs. We use this every day.
Barracuda support has always been just a phone call away, and they always have answers to all our communication questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be fantastic if it played a larger role within the M365 ecosystem. Micorosft has a larger ID Threat Protection platform, but it's cumbersome and difficult to get going, and requires advanced licensing.
Barracuda gives us some of that functionality, but additional reporting like device compliance, or additional user Identity metrics would be extremely helpful.

Visibility into account take over, alerts on suspicious activity, protects against phishing attacks.

So far we have not had any downsides to it.

What do you like best about the product?
Best thing about Impersonation Protection is that we are notified immedately if there is even a hint of abnormal access. We know when junk is junk and it protects our users who may not always pay attention to details.
Support is wonderful if I have to call in and they helped with configuration making it a breeze to start.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have NO complaints about the product or services, top notch!

It assist us mainly with user error and protection.

What do you like best about the product?
It's a powerful tool for any team, there are a lot features that we were able to leverage. I love the integration of all the products, it provides peace of mind and insight. It's the best solution for large companies.
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be very help´ful if all reporting configuration was under a single interface, their admin system was a bit complicated to understand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows users to perform analysis and research, the product has a series of integrations with its entire platform. They offer easy-to-use tools to solve any threat, allowing us to take appropriate measures to mitigate risks.

What do you like best about the product?
The Spear phishing protection parts of this alone has reduced the amount of time spent tackling email by drastic amounts and I use this every day. Use and administration is easy and the ability to gain information to further investigate the email is great. Support calls to Barracuda are always quickly answered, and has been great. We used support services for integration and it was aq uick and easy implementation.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the account takeover parts had better information, however I understand that this is also at the mercy of Microsoft and 365 so it's still much better than what we had previously.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We previously spent countless hours chasing down messages and purging them manually. This just works and reduced that to a minute fraction of the time (if any) spent doing that work.

Basically stopped impersonation emails

What do you like best about the product?
As a school district we were receiving many impersonation emails a month. users could not tell the difference sometimes. After we signed up for barracuda Impersonation Protection it pretty much stopped. Once and a while an email gets through but it's not a very good impersonation and users can tell the difference.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not anything dislike about it. I really like barracuda products.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Stopping the phishing emails in which users were providing information like phone numbers, user names and passwords.
